|
|
As we continue to vote on what class of ship we want to pick for our new ship I think we should open discussion on what the name may be.
So far we have a few ideas from various crewmen. So we don't have to go bopping around I'll list them up here for everyone to read:
USS Archer
USS Star Blazer
USS Guardian
USS Cutlass
USS Avenger
USS Columbus
USS Savannah
Each of these names has a little something, I personally think that the USS Archer is a great name. I always like the idea of naming things after important people... then again the Hartington is named after someone, so we may want to go with a different angle on this one (but Archer is a damn fine name).
Discuss! _________________

Naturally, I will play whatever the ship. I vote for Guardian. I just like the image of a strong silent sentinel out there representing the federation. It has strength and yet implies defense, not agression. We keep watch over our interests, but we are not warriors. Besides, I would like to be part of a mythos we designed ourselves, and not picked completely from the menu.
((Besides that, it would be an honor and excitement to see an old girl come out of starfleet battles and into the life of this group of players)) |

I like Archer, Star Blazer, Guardian and Avenger are kind of tied for third. Cutlass? Only if she has the finest corinthian leather |

the pirate in me like USS Cutlass, but for our crew, I think USS Gaurdian is fitting. |

I kinda had an epiphany last nite. Why don't we have 2 ship names? Archer sounds very much military/marine-ish, yes?
So, Archer for one class, and another name for another class (trying to be diplomatic, since you all ready know my vote...lol)....I realize we will start with one ship first, but there is nothing saying that during recruiting we couldn't put out feelers to see which type of vessel would get best response.
See, if we have both in the wings, and offer both up, we make it clear that our recruiting is for the ship that gets the most of a particular type of player. Dunno if that will work, since I'm fairly new to this type of gaming, but it's a thought.

I like "USS Archer" but... (you knew there was gonna be a but)
For a Marine ship, I like the concept of naming it after an important person, specifically a Marine person. Three names I could come up with off the top of my head:
* USS Lejune - Named after John A. Lejune
* USS Hathcock - named after Carlos Hathcock
* USS Glenn - named after John Glenn
For a Science ship I like the USS Starblazer or USS Columbus (After Christopher Columbus) _________________

I couldnt sleep much last night so i was thinking we either need to name the new ship(s): Guardian for the Excelsior and Avenger for the Miranda/Marine vessel. Or go with names as Calodan pointed out. I could get behind Uss Lejune for the Marine ship. No real reason for these thoughts. Lord knows the Navy doesnt take ship names into account when they send out task forces. |

If there isn't already an USS Columbus, there should be! A wonderful idea, mr. Calodam! |
