I just wanted to mention something I've been thinking about.

I was talking with a few of the players I know IRL and I noticed a trend. My wife and our Chief Science Officer both did something I think is cool. They were both involved in the recent Away Team mission. What I liked about their performance is that during the scene both of them told me that they were not reading what was going on in the other scene, about the Hartington in orbit. They went over their scene without any knowledge of what the other team was doing. I think that's cool.

I watched as my wife attempted to decode Lieutenant Calodan's scrambled message about the alien vessels in orbit, talked to Lieutenant Kantu today about the mystery of what was happening to the Hartington. It was fun to see and to talk about. I guess I have a hard time looking at it from that point of view because I'm the main story mover, I have to know both sides... though I did experience something else that was fun in this mission that I'll share with you:

I wasn't planning on having the aliens show up this early in the story! That was all one of the Bridge Officers... Calodan or McTavish I think. It kept me on my toes and I liked it! I just wanted to say well done to everyone.

I have to say that this was my first RPG online in this type environment. I did read the various posts, but I really began to study Romulan information throughout the web and a couple books (The Romulan Prize is my only paper novel here), so I could tailor it to that info. I am trying hard to be separate from the technology side so as to be "alien on-board". lol.

I hope I did ok, it was fast and furious, but very fun....THANKS MUCH!

I think you did very well Mark, I enjoyed every moment of your performance.

I feel that this was a VERY successful mission!

I've been reading along on those missions... cause well... that's about all i can do, but it's been fun to keep along with it all.

I must admit, I read both ongoing threads. This may have given me a bit of an unfair advantage, but it was fun.

In the future, I think I am going to play it like Qech and confine myself to only information that my character could know. I can see how my staticy transmission would have been puzzling and added to "the experience".

All in all it was a very good scene. Our alien visitors (I hope these are 'series' regulars) seem like they are going to be pretty formidable foes.

I agree, I think next time I'll try the same, see if it adds to the fun, I imagine it will!

I'm assuming these "alien visitors" were the ones jamming the signal? I had a hunch... It has been fun trying to figure out the riddle while cut off on the surface... It just seemed like it would be more fulfilling to NOT know everything and have that "edge of your seat" feeling. I have to say, it's much easier to do that on forums than in real life, around a table.

Ive been reading both posts as soon as they update. At times checking for updates several times an hour lol. One thing of note: I was feeling a bit guilty that the secondary story was doing ALOT more than the main mission lol Uvek, Calodan, and I seemed to be getting a pretty good chemistry going. As soon as one of us would stop the other would pick right up and keep it going. I did get nervous about the Pods. When I attached them to the ship I knew HOW they got there but i wasnt really sure WHAT they were. My thoughts were along the lines of mines to cripple certain areas of the ship, mini shuttles that held one or two aliens each, or something that would allow the aliens to transport into the ship. I thought we were going to have trouble when Calodan had them flare and then fall off lol, while I was having them transport people on board. Luckily it all seemed to fit seemless.
I kept wondering, Am i doing to much? Not enough? But everyone seemed to be going with it so i just kept writing down ideas lol

The three of us were a bit chatty for sure. I think now that we've learned a bit, we can revise and see how to go from here. We really hit a groove and moved the story on at a quick pace. I was so active because I wanted to see where it was going.

As for the pods..I was like "What the hell am I gonna do with those?" I spent like 45 minutes mulling over it and looking over deck plans for the Ambassador and going with the decks you gave me. I finally queued up my "random inspiration device" and let it work. It plays me random star trek clips from youtube and my collection and I mull. The coherent tetryon beam and the placement near relatively critical systems just clicked. The intruders...I honestly just winged it and it worked out luckily.

Well i just looked at the deck listing on the Hartington page. If I was going to explode or board a ship where would i go? Deck 7 is all Quarters to cause panic (or not make it and end up as a pile of goo lol), Deck 10 - Sick Bay, Deck 13 - Axillary Control Room, Deck 25 - Main Engineering. I figured as long as they were out side the ship you or I could figure them out. Once Inside I knew Uvek would take over. Thats why I never said how many had boarded lol I figure he would know lol

Oh and that beam saved my butt. I had no clue what was going on with the Willamette. Every move we made was countered as soon as we did it. I knew something was attacking us I just didnt have enough pieces until that beam popped in.

I fully agree with Mr. Calodan and Mr. McTavish....I felt the story went fast once we got into the groove. Honestly, I was reading the other threads like a tv show. I knew what was going on (thought you guys really reacted well and in character), but it didn't affect my decision making. For the intruders, I tried to think like a security chief (the anestazine gas, for instance), and for the ship I put Worf on...LOL.

The pods had me completely stumped, too. No clue and I am glad to have technos standing by to flesh things out. I honestly forgot about the cloak until the moment I mentioned it in the thread! A Romulan should know better. As far as the bridge crew went, we meshed really well...LOVED that part. I think we each hit our stride in the particular areas of our control.

Captain Brennon, really good job introducing Voss to us. I agree. I think that race and their backgrounds should be a staple enemy for us. A lot can be done. I intend to ask Dr. Kiv about medical info, and Rolen about their atmospherics. Their weapons were impressive, but I think the Hartington can kick their butts! LOL
