Stardate: 53772.5 Post meeting.

Sitting at her desk, reviewing files she picks up on rather strong emotions of anger and frustration. It's got a signature attached to it that she just can't place. It was then that the beeps of her door touchpad sounded.

"Enter" she said without looking away from her files. As the door opened to reveal Mr. Koester, she addressed him without looking up.

"Mr. Koester, I wasn't expecting you so soon... but please come in." she said before switching screens and blocking out the next hour of her time. As requested by Lt. Uvek, she opened the log recorder function on her console to keep record of this session with Mr. Koester. It would make it far easier to write her notes for the report later. She stood then and offered her hand to the man.

"We have yet to be formally introduced. Reahil'ea Zeara."

She shook the man's hand and was pleased to find that she didn't get a flood of information from him. Offering him a seat, she sat in her preferred chair across from the small sofa.

"Please, have a seat."

"Thank you counselor." Koester said. He offered his right hand. The one bearing the battle scar from Dantana IV.

"As for formal introductions I am Petty Officer Karl Koester. I've been dealing with a good amount of personal issues especially in light of our recent encounters with the Cardassians. A race I obviously detest as villains."

taking note of the scar on his hand she gave him a soft smile.

"I have had a chance to briefly review your file, but I'd like for you to express why you find your anger still so close to the surface of your life. Are there any prevailing factors that you encounter routinely?"

Knowing that she could well just read his mind and ease his situation through mental suggestion, she chose to try to have him work out his own issues... it would benefit him further in the long run.

"I remember a walk in the rain. It fell in sheets through San Francisco when I visited the Dominion War memorial." Koester replied. "I came upon a laser etched name in the granite. Andi Ryvers. My fiancee. Murdered in a prison camp by the Cardassians. I hate them for what they stole from me and believe that their evil race should have been obliterated by the Jem'Hadar to the last child!"

Not letting her face show any of the emotions she was warring with between her own and the ones Koester was seeping with, she took a moment to ponder how best to respond to this.

"Those are very strong words Mr. Koester. I can understand the reason for the anger, but what I want to know is what drove you to hate the race as a whole. There is more to what you're feeling than you're letting on."

She paused a moment and shifted in her seat trying to keep from letting his emotions overwhelm her ability to stay calm. A drawback of what Q had given her was the annoyance and frustration that amplfied around those with similar feelings. She'd learned to control that, but right now, with his anger fueling the emotions inside her, she had to work at that control.

"Loosing a loved one is not something one can get over easily, but I have not seen someone hold onto their anger this strongly since I was a child. Tell me more of what stirs these feelings of such contempt towards the Cardassians."

She paused and waited for the man's response. She always knew how frustrating the inital visits were... the questions that seemed to idiotic to some people, but were meant to make them beging to face the things that they tried so hard not to come to terms with.

a start... that's all it is, just a start she reminded herself.

"Andi was taken prisoner when the USS Aizawa was disabled in the Archanis sector. She and several other prisoners were put to work in building an artificial wormhole. It was in orbit of the planet I was stranded on when the Dominion overran us. I went into hiding and fought the Cardassians and Jem'Hadar in a one-man war." Koester replied.

"Andi died in a prison riot. A glinn conducted a brutal field interrogation of a female prisoner and the other female prisoners in the pod rioted. The Cardassians waded in with riot armor and clubs. The dead and dying and severely wounded were flushed out the nearest airlock. Andi was still alive when the Cardies flushed her into space. I hate them! They should be exterminated to the last child!" Koester said as tears appeared in his eyes.

Watching as the tears welled in his eyes, she knew where she had to begin with this process.

"Mr. Koester, I want you to tell me more about your fiancee. What was she like?"

She needed to find out how much of his memory was devoted to her, and how much had been overtaken by his obession with killing the Cardassians. This was going to be a long process, but those with his issues usually were. She had to make him regress back towards the happier points in his life so she could disect out the anger that had begun to consume him.

"Can you tell me what she looked like the first time you met her?"

"Andi was a wonderful woman in every sense of the word. She was everything I ever wanted or dreamed of in one. She was beautiful, intelligent and compassionate. All three are traits that are absolute musts for me." Koester replied with a sad smile: "She came from a small town in Massachusetts and her favorite season was the winter. Her favorite book was Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. We loved each other very much."

For Koester it hurt just to think of her. Just to remember Andi. Remembering the feel of her slender frame alongside his own. To watch her sleep and to believe he'd do anything to keep her safe.

"I used to watch her sleep as we lay together at night. She looked so peaceful and almost angelic. I remember swearing I'd do everything to keep her safe. And when the Cardies took her from me I swore I'd do everything to send as many of the vermin to burn in all the Hells that existed as I could!" Koester said. His Russo-German heritage was now really apparent. The habit of speech where whenever he was especially angry crept up.

Koester composed himself again before answering the counselor's next question:

Quote:

"Can you tell me what she looked like the first time you met her?"

"My friend, Ivy Hayes, who worked in our investigations section introduced us. I remember I met Andi a few times beforehand and made some smalltalk when she worked in the supply section of Aijilon Prime." Koester replied.

"I remember the first time we met. How she was studying advanced mathematics as she was taking care of my supply request and was able to do both efficiently." Koester said with a slight smile: "Normally a woman like that can be scatter brained or icily intellectual but she was so kind and warm."

"As for appearance I remember a slender young woman with her shiny chestnut hair pinned in a neat little twist behind her head with kind gray-blue eyes a touch more blue than gray. They were eyes that could melt your heart." Koester said. "I am never to look on those eyes again; The Cardassians took my love and they must all perish!"

With a calm expression she tried to find a way to make him begin to sort through his anger.

"I see your anger has consumed so much of you that you have a very difficult time distinguishing that anger from any other emotion. Most beings when trying to remember a pleasant thought will display signs of longing, of peace. I do not get that from you when you think back on the happier moments of your life." She paused to watch his eyes for a moment before continuing. "This is not an easy condition to handle, and it will require hard work on both our ends, and perhaps you to face situations you would prefer not to." She tried to give him a comforting smile, but it faltered. "For the time being, until our next session, I want you to start a log of memories with Andi, good or bad. The only condition to this is that they cannot contain any aspect of anything related to the Cardassians."

She knew it would be a difficult task for him, and seem rather childish, but she had to start singling out the triggers that really lead him to these angry outbursts. She knew that Andi was the primary, but she was sure that there was more to this than even he knew about... and it was her job to try to uncover what that was.

"I will set a meeting for a week from today, barring any duty that may interfere with that time, I would like you to have made two log entries by then. I also ask that you take your time with these entries and try to visualize them with as much detail as possible. Is that acceptable Mr. Koester?" she always asked her clients if an assignment was something they could handle at the time. Everyone was different, and she knew better than to just force someone into something, it only worsened the situation.

"I will comply." Koester said. "It'll be difficult. But I will comply. Every time I remember so much of what we had together I see the video feed I saw of the riot. The one I saw when I used my pirated signal to try and hack into the Cardassian computer network. I saw everything. I saw Andi die and was unable to do anything to save her. The very person I would have sacrificed my own life to protect died and I could do nothing to save her. From then on no Cardassian within 2.5 km of my TR-116 would be safe..."

She nodded as she heard what she had hoped to hear. "And it is for that reason I have assigned you this task. It is just the starting point, but with time, the changes will be seen." She nodded and stood with a smile feeling that at least this session went well.

"Remember, two entries by next week." She said and extended her hand to him. "If you have any questions or concerns before our next meeting, you know where my office is."
