Koester tapped his commbadge after receiving the order from Uvek: "Cadet Mehvra-Kuplo, this is Petty Officer Koester, Master at Arms. I would like to speak to you briefly about some security protocol installations."

Location: just outside the mess, USS Hartington

*Comm-badge chirps* Absolutely, Petty Officer. I've just finished a meal and have a few minutes before by next training session. Where shall we meet?

Arriving a couple minutes early, Mehv walked towards the door of the security office. I think I'm finally starting to get used to the ship. No wrong turns, no stopping for directions.

Mehv steps into the office and hopes that the mission debriefing has concluded. "Petty Officer Koester? Ensign Mehvra here for our scheduled meeting..."

Turning to enter the command at the door controls, Mehv's interest was piqued. What could require so much secrecy?

He tapped his combadge twice to ensure there were no open lines.

Turning back, "Very well Petty Officer, what may I do for you?"

"I'll get right to the point, sir. I want you to trace, discretely, every computer access of our Vorta 'friend' since he came aboard. And monitor his every access. No one is to know, not even your deparment head."

Mehv started to say something, but then stopped. Thinking for a short time longer, he eventually said, "The obvious accesses is no problem. It would be the unauthorized accesses that may take some time. "

"I should be able set up a search to track his movements and cross reference any accesses occurring at the same time. There will be a lot of internal sensor data to compile and then analyze. A significant amount of processing time will be necessary. An amount that would not go unnoticed by Lieutenant Calodan. I can schedule the processing in small chunks spread over a long period at the cost of time. I will also implement security on the process and the data to limit access. Who do you want to have access to this operation?"

Mehv moved over to an access console and started entering some commands, setting up some of the basic framework and such. Then, he abruptly stopped... Looking up at PO Koester:

"While I understand the security risk, this type of intrusion on the Vorta Ambassador is, in general, usually frowned upon. Do we have approval from the Security Officer or other commanding officer?"

Cross check with LT Uvek if you wish, he authorized me to do this. But aside from him no one is to know of your activities. Only Uvek and myself. Is that clear?"

"Quite clear Mister Koester. I'll setup a security check on the program and data to allow access to only you and me. It'll also track anyone accessing or attempting to access the files. Please enter your security code now. Do you wish anyone else to have access to this?"

"Very well Mister Koester. I will start the program and update you when I have results."

Mehv closes his program access allowing the console to close its link to the program and erasing any local information. He stands and exits the security office, returning to his quarters. Once there, he sends a message to Lt, Uvek:

Sir, I have received a request from PO Koester to gather information about the Vorta Ambassador's computer accesses. In order to move forward, I've placed security measures on the program and the information it will gather. I would like to meet with you in order to have you enter your security code so that you can have access to it. Let me know when you'd like to meet. My quarters are an option for where, but I'm open to other options.

Uvek tapped a code into the computer: 1700 hrs in the security office.

After his shift was done, Uvek turned his attention to the security office. He settled in and updated some files while waiting for Mr. Kuplo.

Mehv found a good spot to stop in his programming efforts and looked over at the chronometer. He stood up and stretched. He had been working for quite a while, not realizing how much time had actually passed.

Grabbing a PADD, he headed down to the security office with a couple minutes to spare. Walking in he approached Lt. Uvek. "Good evening, sir." He handed the lieutenant the PADD which was all set to accept his security access code.

Mehv took a quick glace around, to make sure no one was in earshot. "It'll take a week or week and a half to compile and analyze all the data if we want to keep this from being noticed. You will automatically receive the data when it has been completed. I just received my notice of transfer to the Guardian, so I won't be around when that completes, but I can be contacted if there are any problems."
