Okay everyone, we've had a few issues in storylines and in personal backgrounds involving a few things. I want to resolve these issues right now once and for all. These issues are up for discussion, but you'll have to present your case if you'd like to bend the rules.

Creation of New Player Characters- Players may have any number of Characters on Task Force Gamma as they feel they can responsibly portray. Any character portrayed by the Commanding Officer of a Sim aboard that ship other than the CO character is automatically considered an NPC for that ship and doesn't receive a Signature Badge. Players may only portray one Lead Officer per ship (a Lead Officer is one of the following: Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Department Head). Players may portray as many Junior Officers and Enlisted Personnel as they feel they may responsibly portray. Players may only portray one Senior NCO per ship (a Senior NCO is a high ranking Non-Commissioned Officer [Senior Chief Petty Officer and above through Chief Warrant Officer First Class]).

Non-Player Characters- Firstly, let us define what a Non-Player Character (NPC) is. An NPC is a non-regular character portrayed by a Lead Officer . These characters are used to fill the gaps in the storylines as needed. For instance, the Chief Security Officer of USS Hartington needs a few additional Security Officers or Specialists for an away mission. These characters would need to approved by the CO before entering play. It would be wise for there to be a stock of typical NPCs to be used by the various Lead Officers. Junior Officers may not create NPCs for use, however they may use NPCs of their Department as needed with the approval of their Department Head, CO or XO.

Interaction With Canon and Novel Continuity- While we all would enjoy to see our characters alongside the greats of the Star Trek Universe we need to remember that this is our story. We should, first and formost, use our characters as various plot devices. Any interaction with characters from the Star Trek Canon or Continuity is only to be used at the behest of the Commanding Officer. Players may not make any changes to accepted canon or continuity without the express permission of the Command Council. The reason for this is that Task Force Gamma intends on following very closely the stories laid out by the novel continuity. Any changes to canon or continuity that have already been made may be used for the time being, pending review.

Portrayal of Multiple Characters- If you have more than one character aboard a ship, please remember to distinguish between who you are portraying at any given moment. Preface your post with the name of the character you're playing at that time. If you are portraying more than one character per post, differentiate between them using different color text, divide the post up between the two or even post separately for each character. This is to avoid any confusion with regard to who is speaking and acting at the moment.

Approved Species List- Here is the species lists, this is by no means a complete list and it may be added to or edited at any time. The Commanding Officer of a Sim may allow any Approved or Restricted species at any time. Unavailable species may only be permitted into the game as a Player Character at the discretion of the Command Council. Any species may be disallowed from an individual Sim for any reason.

Approved means that players have unrestricted access to these species.

Restricted means that a player must first have Commanding Officer approval before playing a character of these species.

Unavailable means that no player may have a character of these species.

Well said. Will comply. I would like a private list of "RED SHIRTS" to place on away missions from time-to-time, if possible, sir. That is a canon-requirement, I think, cannon-fodder as it were. We don't necessarily need them on the list of approved npc's per se, but I think each ship should have them.

Currently I play: Uvek - most missions required. System 921 - very specific character interaction (limited play). Daniels - Bridge officer - probably going to the Guardian. I have also created an officer for the Guardian, however, he can wait at your discretion. I have enough for now to be happy and active.

Thank you for your guidelines. Please pm me if you feel I have/am/or might overdo it.

Uvek

Not overdoing it at all. Send me a list via PM of the NPCs you want to use, names, ranks and races, for your Tactical and Security needs. As many "redshirts" as you want. I'll add them to the official manifest at usshartington.com

You fail to see, my dear... Artificial Life Forms are on the restricted list and I choose NOT to let you play a Transformer!

I like the finger, myself, but really you just have to hang your head sometimes. Besides, a transformer wouldn't really fit on the transporter pad (unless it turns into a radio, which, who would know how to handle it?)

Very Happy Laughing
