Croft took an open seat, which put him between Uvek and McTavish. The dealer dealt him in. He ordered a scotch from the wattress, then checked his cards.

"So who's got the blinds, anyway?"

"You are not intruding at all. Everyone was invited and is welcome. This is a game for fun and to get to know each other better."
"I appreciate the gesture..." ... "Please forgive me, I'm unsure of how to address you."
"During poker night, I ask that you call me Jim. It is a nickname of sorts, and I feel setting myself on equal ground with everyone around me helps to build a sense of commonality."

Ensign balim Fastatén nodded to Liutenant Calodan... 'Jim', e told emself, and shook the man's hand firmly. Then, e took a seat, next to Lt. Uvek, and looked around the table.

"Outside the table, Mr. balim Fastatén is all right, until we are on a first-name basis. My people is not very keen on honorifics either, but as it seems you use your surnames with your honorifics, this one thinks it would be fine to honour es progenitor as well. During poker night, it is ok to call this one Ázmay. That is this one's name, after all"

After being dealt cards, Ázmay took a quick peek at them... uhmmm, e thought... "Two young males"

E looked at the community cards on the table...

Interesting, thought Uvek, as Azmay sat near him and Croft sat with him. He nodded to each and looked at his cards. A queen, similar to the one showing faced him, but little else.

He threw in a chip. "I'll raise(?) is it?" he asked.

"Well, that is a rotten tell. Best advice I can give you on that is to smile the whole time. It'll make it harder to catch."

Qech laughed. "Smile? The whole time? Well, that may solve my problem, but for the pain I'd have in my cheeks by the end of the night, I think I'd rather just lose." She graciously took the seat offered to her and settled in with her crew-mates. When the drinks came around, she came awfully close to ordering one, but then paused and waved the tray away.

"No thank you," She said to the waitress, a look of slight disappointment on her face. "I'll just have an orange juice if you don't mind. Not a screwdriver, an orange juice." The waitress gave her a well-whatever look and moved off to get her drink as Qech looked down at her cards.

Snowmen. Not bad.

She made her bet and looked around the table. "Full house tonight. Makes me wish I didn't have the bridge in the morning." She smiled at her colleagues, taking up her orange juice when the waitress returned.

Croft checked his cards, Might have a straight if the right card comes along

"Full house tonight. Makes me wish I didn't have the bridge in the morning."

Croft laughed.

"Come on, Davynn, one little drink won't hurt," Croft smiled and knocked back his scotch, waving to the waitress with his free hand.

Uvek looked at his neighbor and shook his head. Evidently, something changed with the Commander. Her choice in forsaking Raktajino, then alcohol, indicated she was protecting her body. Females often did so for various reasons, but since her visit to Sickbay...well.

Not being one to pry, Uvek simply ordered a tea. He raised it as a toast to Davynn (not that he would bring himself to call her that), and took a sip. A pair of queens would not pull the pot, as it were. But, it may push others out of the hand. He waited to see who else would bet.

"What to do... what to do...?", thought Azmay as es three minds raced around es brain.

Ázmay looked at the other players' faces; e hoped they were as inept at reading es face as e was at reading theirs.

Es mind was blocked from telepathy, in order to protect the Counselor... but e felt the point of the game semeed to be a little... shallow. It would be better not to mention that, as e knew that most cultures tend to be protective about their own games...

E tried to delve deeper in the game and to follow their fellow players' lead, so e asked for something to drink. E was sure there would be no sofóil milk in the casino's menu, so...

"It is decided not to drink alcohol, so please bring a pinneaple and orange juice", e told the waitress, paying no attention to the puzzled look on her face.

"It would be raised too, if that is the correct word", e said as e threw another chip, following Uvek's lead

McTavish looked around the table, noting the sense of ease as everyone took a place. "Do you think the Captain will have time to join us?" He asked of no one in particular.
When the serving girl got to him he ordered a small Warnog.
With a grin,"Xo, please, take no offense, I would never try and get involved in someones personal business. Im sure what ever your reasons are, they are good ones. But please, for the sake of the crew, dont try and go cold turkey off of Raktajino. I know first hand the effects from rapid withdrawl. I would also not recommend Quarktajino. Its not much help. Well maybe as a diuretic, but anyway, if you would like i can recommend a few things that can take the edge off when the with drawl effects get too bad."

Qech laughed and eyed her comrade with an amused grin. "Well, I think we know who we'll be dragging back to his quarters tonight... And I'll stick with my OJ, thanks."

"Oh, I hear you. Trust me, I've tried before. It didn't work. I'm just going to have to deal with the headaches for awhile. Caffeine doesn't actually speed you up once you've become addicted. It actually becomes required to run at the same speed as everyone else after awhile, contrary to popular belief. Another good reason to quit. Not to say caffeine is the worst thing you'll find in Klingon coffee..."

She looked around the table. "Oh, and I do have one request: Either Davynn or Qech is just fine, but go with Davynn if you're yelling at me from across a room. Otherwise I tend to think someone's about to throw something at me."

((OCC, have we seen the Flop yet?))

Croft smirked at Qech, then threw a handful of chips on the growing pile. He tipped the waitress as she brought his drink.

"You have to train to handle your alcohol, and I've been training with the best of them." He'd been watching Qech, and got a strange flash of her thoughts, an image of sickbay. Keep it tight Xavier He thought, putting his mental barriers back up. He took a swallow of his scotch, making a conscious effort to slow down, just in case they did have to drag him to his quarters.

Qech smirked at him over her cards. "I'll have to speak to Dr. Kiv about setting aside a kidney for you."

((OOC: Sure, we've seen the flop. Lets go with a Queen of Hearts, 6 of clubs, and a 3 of diamonds))

After watching his crewmates raise, Calodan looked at his hand and quietly folded.

"Well, I think we know who we'll be dragging back to his quarters tonight.

"No reason to worry about having to drag him back. We can always just rig up a site to site transport." He grinned at Croft, toasting him slightly with his drink. "As for Raktajino withdrawal, I suspect you'll find that the XO is up to the task. One joy of living multiple lives is switching bodies. My second host loved Raktajino and my third was allergic. That was some serious withdrawal."

"You have to train to handle your alcohol, and I've been training with the best of them."

"We'll just have to see about that one time, when we both don't have Bridge duty in the morning. Ever heard of an Earth drink called Tequilla?"

Calodan watched the turn card come up. The Ace of Spades.

"So, Davynn, do you think the Captain might show up? I made sure he knew he was welcome."

Croft watched the ace of spades flop, then threw his cards in. I think I'm going to like Calodan, my kinda guy

"Looks like my bad lucks already started."

Qech watched the ace pop up on the turn and quietly folded. While she was loathed to throw away an easy pair, there were just too many high cards on the table.

"So, Davynn, do you think the Captain might show up? I made sure he knew he was welcome."

She shook her head. "Good question. He looked a bit stretched at the debriefing, so I wouldn't be surprised if he turned in early tonight." She paused. "Scratch that. I would be surprised. It would mean he had to stop working."

Uvek was curious about Azmay and was spending more time looking at him than at the cards in his hand. He had only a queen in his hand, but so far others obviously had less.

"Raise." he said, tossing in another chip. Frankly, he had no idea what a raise was, nor if he was even playing properly.

"Mr. Azmay," he said, "I am curious, how do you find working in sickbay? It must be a fascinating study for you."
