Marek entered the turbolift noticing an Efrosian already on the lift. The Chief Engineer smiled warmly, causing his long facial hair to twitch.

"Captain Marek, good to finally meet you. I'm Dylan Roe, your Chief Engineer. You'll find the ship ready to depart on your orders sir."

Marek nodded. "Well met, Chief Roe. I am pleased to hear it." At that moment the turbolift doors opened. Marek stepped out onto the bridge.

"As you were," He said, before anyone could jump to attention. Chief Roe took the Engineering station behind Ops.

"Status report." Marek said as he took the command chair.

Talbert looked to his first officer, whose right it was to reveal the ship status. He had just moments before reported all green and was busy coordinating the engineering functions with the various department heads.

"All set here," he told Mr. Gaer.

OOC for the sake of getting the ship out of dock...

Gaer clears his throat.

"All systems are within normal parameters sir, we have a green light for launch."

Marek nods, the turns to the helmsman.

"Mr. Fontaine, take us out of dock, thrusters only."

On screen, the sides of the dry dock slowly disappear as the ship smoothly pulls out of port.

"Captain, we have cleared dock." Fontaine almost shouts.

"Helm, bring us to 1/4 impulse, heading on course for DS9" Marek feels a flutter of excitement as his first command officially begins. His Vulcan upbringing reasserts itself quickly, but the excitement in the room from almost all of the crew is noticable.

OOC hope I didn't step on the XO's toes, planned on this happening lastnight

(OOC: Not at all, I was at work most of the day, just got home a little bit ago so I couldn't post. I don't mind being circumvented from time to time, it's your boat after all!)

Commander Gaer sat to the right of the Captain, watching the bridge crew at their tasks. He looked over to the Communications Station and the human that occupied it.

"Mr. Daniels, please notify Deep Space Nine of our estimated time of arrival and relay a message to Captain Brennon aboard the Hartington of our intended rendezvous time."

It takes several almost 30 minutes of travel at impulse to clear the star system and a safe point to enter warp. Ensign Fontaine addresses the Captain.

"Sir, we've cleared the outer planets, ready to accelerate to warp." Marek checks the readout on his control panel briefly.

"Ensign, DS9, warp 6." There's a few moments pause, it takes a couple tries for the Ensign to get the course set, the computer buzzes at him, he curses under his breath, then,

"Course laid in Captain." Marek stifles the urge to smile,

"Engage."

The ship jumps smoothly to warp 6, enroute to DS9.

Stardate: 53779.5
Location: Bridge
Reporting as: Ensign Stephen Daniels

Daniels put his hand to his earpiece, putting slight pressure on it and pushing it deeper into his ear. The mumbling came through again.

"Affirmative, Hartington, thank you." He turned to the captain. "DS9 and Hartington confirm their preparations, sir."

********************

Talbert watched the helm's problems with the computer. He pulled his console closer, and tapped in commands. Everything seemed fine. He set his jaw and resolved to have words with the ensign. Shake-down or not, there was no reason for not knowing your job. He looked to the First Officer.

"Mr. Gaer, it appears systems are functioning normally, so far. A few minor spikes on the warp core indicators, but nothing otherwise noteworthy. All within acceptable parameters."

Marek ran throught some officer reports on his console, then decided the larger console in his readyroom would be much better. He stands, looking to his first officer.

"Mr. Gaer, you have the bridge." With a nod, he leaves the bridge for his readyroom.

The gruff Tellarite nodded and rose to his feet.

"Aye, Captain."

As the Captain left the bridge, Commander Gaer settled into the Command Chair and watched the stars zip by on the viewscreen.

LT Surok had all 4 science stations manned, ready and running at full capacity.
Sci 1 he manned himself, alone, overseeing all of the data the Guardians senors could pull in. Matching each bit of gathered data to that stored in the ships computer. He made notes of a few discrepancies but over all was pleased with how the new senors were working. A small area of the screen showed the Astronomy information being funneled down to the Astronomy Lab.
Sci 2 was manned by a LTJG Harper and Ensign Callow and was given over to Astrogation and Geology.
Sci 3 was manned by Ensign Hanson and Ensign T'Lin, who scanned Astronautics and Hydrology.
Sci 4 Was manned by LTJG S'lynn and Ensign Sanna and recorded Astrophysics and Meteorology

Talbert set his console on auto-record, and stepped forward, standing just behind the helmsman.

"Mr. Fonatine," he started. His voice said was taut. "Please explain your hesitation with the controls. My board indicates systems normal. Do you need a refresher from the academy training suite?"

Fontaine's ears turned bright red, and he slowly turned to the Ops officer, his voice was even, obviously he was upset.

"No sir, I was just a little excited. I haven't been at the helm of anything capable of warp in almost a year." Stupid admiral and his lessons

Fontaine let out a deep breath.

"It won't happen again sir."

OOC edit for continuity oops

Talbert placed a hand on Fontaine's shoulder. "Take it easy, Mr." he said with surprising gentleness, "We've a long way to go."

He returned to his seat and shot the first officer a knowing glance and a small wink. No sense being a prick all the time, he thought. Carrot and stick; carrot and stick.

(OOC: sorry for the late reply on this one, but just got character set up today)

Location: USS Gaurdian
Posting As: Aynslie VanQuax

After finally getting her things in order in her quarters, she took a deep breath, straighted her uniform again, a nervous habit she'd picked over the years, put on her game face and headed toward the turbolift.

"Bridge" she spoke a little shakier than she had intended.

As the lift engaged and brought her to her destination, she tried to put a pinch on her nerves. this isn't your first assignment. you'll do fine she tried to re-assure herself. It'd been two years since she last served on a ship though, and the anxiety was gnawing at her nerves. As the doors to the turbo lift opened, she took a quick look around the bridge and tried to commit to memory the faces she saw.

With no sight of the Captain, she headed to the doors of his ready room and pressed the chime. Taking a deep steadying breath, she waited his command to enter.

Location: Main Bridge, USS Gaurdian
Character: Commander Gaer

Gaer's beady eyes watched Talbert with Fontaine, almost ready to give in and intercede on the helmsman's behalf... almost. He sat back in his chair and brought a PADD up to read over as the Guardian soared into the night.
