McTavish saw the Captain enter and move to an empty table. Luckily, the table was with in reach, if McTavish hooked his foot in the table leg and tilted his chair waaaaaay back.
"Merry Christmas, Sir.", was said as Mctavish slid a glittering bright red package into the center of the Captains table. _________________

Still stretched out, McTavish watched the XO enter and begin handing out gifts. He contemplated reaching for her table but decided it was well beyond his reach. Reeling himself in, McTavish reached into the bag and pulled out another red package.
McTavish waited until the XO hand handed the CO his gift, before standing and walking to the XO's table and placing the package on the table. "XO? The hat is perfect, wish I had of thought of that. Merry Christmas!" McTavish headed back to his seat. _________________

Uvek nodded to Azmay at his explanation. He understood the lack of 'religiousity' as it were; the Romulan people were not especially 'religious' themselves. But they did practice faith and so he fully appreciated Azmay's analysis.
Quote: | "Uvek! Head's up!" She said, tossing the present toward him in a high arc. She hoped he would like the tea. She couldn't help but notice that he drank a lot of the stuff during poker games, and some non-replicated good-quality leaves might be a nice change for him. |
The romulan easily caught the light but colorful package. The surprise on his face was more related to the generosity and comeraderie he felt from this crew, than anything else. A far cry from the Mind Wars, murder and mayhem of the Tal Shiar!
He unwrapped the gift, and blushed green. Fresh tea leaves! How thoughtful. He felt terrible that he knew little of this custom. But as with all the learning experiences here, he would not be caught short again. That is assuming, of course, that they made it to the next Christmas.
He beamed at the commander, who's pregnancy was now progressing nicely which was a fascinating experience for Uvek to observe up close, and called out, "Thank you Commander, you are very gracious."
"Greetings, Captain," he said, turning his attention to the commanding officer. "I trust you have enjoyed these past few weeks. May they continue as uneventful, yet successful, as they have been." _________________

"Merry Christmas, Sir... Or is it, Happy Christmas? I never get them right"
Both work well to be honest. I'm not sure which one was said originally, but most people I know say 'Merry'."
He looks to the box she'd handed to him and then back to her warmly.
"You didn't have to do that you know... doesn't mean I won't open it of course."
David smiled as he opened his gift from the XO. She knew him too well it seemed. He looked back up to her.
"Thank you, thank you very much."
"I almost came in full Santa regalia... But I'm not quite fat enough for that yet. Maybe I'll go stuff my face or something... Speed things along."
He laughed at that last comment and nodded.
"By all means, eat away."
He looked to the other Officers that made their presence know, nodding to each.
"Merry Christmas to you all. As Mr. Uvek said, let us hope that the rest of our time together can prove interesting, if safe... but then again we wouldn't be exploring the depths of space to be safe, now would we?" _________________

Qech smiled, happy that both the Captain and Uvek liked their gifts, and greeted McTavish as he approached.
"XO? The hat is perfect, wish I had of thought of that. Merry Christmas!"
She brought a hand up to her hat, moving the fuzzy white pouf from one shoulder to the other. "I thought it would be festive" she said, grinning. After he placed his gift on the table, she hurriedly handed him a wrapped package (a new set of lures) before he could get away. "A little something for the Holosuite. Merry Christmas!" _________________

Uvek watched the scene unfold, certain that with companions such as these, the next leg of their journey must surely be successful. _________________

(OOC: Haven't seen much of Koester or Mr. Trimbo lately. I thought I'd give them a chance to join us and see what's been happening before closing this out, if that is ok>) _________________

"You are most kind, Ensign. This one will try to give you something in return, nevertheless. You just won't know when to expect it... If you do not mind, this one is going to look at your gift now..."
Azmay opened carefully es gift , the blue package McTavish had given to him, a glint of curiosity sparkling in es black eyes. |

(OOC as may have been surmised all my christmas gifts are Fishing Lures. Just picture a multi-colored (pick two) creature bristling with bared hooks. Fish, worm-like, crayfish, frogs, mice, etc..Oh and as gifts I dulled the hooks so no one can get hurt hehe. The only exception to this is the gift to the Captain)
McTavish Watched in anticipation as Azmay opened the package. _________________

Inside the package there was something small and creature-like. It looked like some kind of fish. Having heard the previous conversation on fishing, Azmay assumed it was some kind of bait or lure.
"It is quite... intriguing, Ensign. This one would like you to explain em what this 'fishing' means... This one understands it has something to do with fish, but... es culture tends to not use bait as all..." |

"Hmm Fishing. Well I could go through a very long and boring discussions about the earths fishing industry and such but for our purposes Im writing Holodeck program for recreation. From a relaxing day laying under a tree with a cane pole and cork bobber to a several hours long fight, deep sea fishing for Marlin.
At the moment, I only have information from earth programed in, with the exception of one Klingon type of Fishing, that I got from Korax. That I really need to find out if he is being honest or pulling my leg a bit.
Anyway id be very interested in learning your fishing customs and lore." _________________

What Ensign McTavish described as 'fishing' sounded more boring than relaxing, thought Azmay. But e was not one to shy away from new experiences. However, it was clear than things -at least concerning fishing- were done very differently in Lorab.
"Uhmmm... well, Ensign... this one guesses than es people mostly dive and chase the fish. Zethnyn tridents are fairly well crafted, balanced and easy to use, and this one's people's sight does not suffer underwater" |

"Earth had spear fishing as well. And I have several scenes that are exactly that. Does your world have any under water predators? On Earth there are Sharks. Sharks make spear fishing...interesting." _________________

Uvek had been listening to this discussion and stepped slightly closer, recalling his childhood hunting experiences.
"I don't mean to interrupt, however, on ch'Rihan we have a creature known as a jhimm. It is a serpent that can be found in streams and rivers, and has an extremely...difficult dispostion." he said with a smile. _________________

Calodan wandered into the lounge, just having come off a duty shift. He smiled, seeing the exchange of gifts going on and wandered over to the table to say hello and to hand out his gifts as well.
"Evening everyone. Happy Holidays." _________________
