OOC this is about 9 days before the Hartington accident

"Computer, begin Captain's log, current stardate." A chirp, the sound of a PADD sliding on a table.

"The Guardian is enroute to a star system several light-years from our current location. One of the Hartington's Class VII probes has detected a class M planet with faint energy signatures. As per our mission parameters, the Guardian has changed course to investigate. As the first class M planet we have encountered, I have high hopes this will be a likely candidate for colonization and/or a permanent Starfleet presence in the system. I am also interested to see how the crew performs for their first away mission." Sound of a teacup scraping a saucer. "The crew is adapting to their new duties well, my senior staff is quite capable, very efficient. I am still attempting to fill a few vacancies, but our latest readiness drills show the crew is at 92% efficiency, excellent for this point of a shake-down cruise." Another pause "Computer, end log."
