USS Willamette
Xavier Croft
Croft's smile returned a little when he heard the Hartington's transmission.
"Willamette to Hartington, Lieutenant Gahn we read you. It's good to hear your voice sir." _________________

OOC: I'm neither reading the other threads... I just think that if Thomas wanted us to know about the transmission, he would have posted about it in this thread. Don't take it as something personal, Person-playing-Croft (I don't know your name, sorry); acting on out-of-play knowledge just feels like cheating to me, so that's why I reacted the way I did. By the way, I thought that Lt. Ghan was working on the Willamette, not in the Hartington... LOL Oh! And sorry about calling 'Croft' Ensign, and acting so disrespectfully... I mistook you for someone else.
IC: Ensign Tanay bows er head to Lt. Croft, er Azernébi meditation not ruined, but interrupted beyond hope. E would have to do it again from the beginning... later.
"Let it be said that it a good plan, Liutenant. There is no sense in being affected by things one cannot control. It is being assured we will be ready as soon as possible, and then we will able to answer the Pike's call for aid. And please forgive er for er disrespect; it won't happen again." |

OOC Yeah your probably right, Thomas would have posted here, on the other hand, in Trek terms we aren't that far away, and being the shuttle wasn't damaged, it would be unrealistic to assume we wouldn't receive the transmission, even if we can't do anything about it. And my name is Colin for what it's worth, (I don't know your name either so don't feel bad.) _________________

OOC: You guys are fine, it is ok to assume that we would have picked up the distress call, but there is no way we can go and help them, we're too far out. Either way, I suggest we wrap this up and head back the the Hartington with some dilithium.
IC:
Calodan and Kalev had finally made it to the front of the line, where an alien similar to Captain Peor was waiting. "Please state the nature of your visit."
Calodan put on his best disarming smile. "Hello, I am Lieutenant Calodan of the Federation starship Hartington. We're here to trade for some refined dilithium crystals."
The man looked at him, obviously annoyed. "Really? You're the first one today. Specifications?" Calodan handed him a PADD with the specification on screen. "So few crystals. Surely a ship would need more then this? What if you have to replace them on your journeys, it is good to have spares for when they decrystallize."
"Oh, we recomposite the crystals inside our warp cores, " Kalev said, getting a stern look from Calodan.
"Well, that is a technology we are unfamiliar with. Perhaps you would like to speak with our engineering teams? No? Well, seeing as this is such a small amount of dilithium, we will forgo the bartering." He handed over an alien PADD with a list of supplies on it. "You may choose any two of the items on that list to trade. Transfer it to our warehouses here and transmit your confirmation code back to this office and we will transfer your dilithium within half a cycle." They were motioned to the side and the next in line stepped up to do business. Calodan examined the padd and noticed immediately several items they had onboard the runabout that they could spare for trade. He motioned for Kalev to follow and walked out into the sunlight. After getting his bearings, he lead the way back to the runabout. _________________

(OOC: I'm going to wrap this up and merge this back with the Hartington's main story.)
ACTION
As the crew of Runabout Willamette prepares for departure they receive a hail from the capital city on Panthanel. When answered, the crew sees the face of a well dressed Myosian official that introduces herself as Kia Tanal, Exterior Minister of Panthanel Prime.
"I'm very pleased to make your acquaintance. Word has reached my offices of your rescue of one of our freighters from nearby Nekrali raiders. I wanted to extend the most sincere thanks from our people. Should you desire we'd be very happy to host your primary vessel if you come back to this region and time soon."
With that invitation the Runabout is cleared for departure.
***
Some time later the team returns to the Hartington. While en route, contact had been reestablished and so the gaping hole in the Engineering section caused by the alien raiders, now known to have been Nekrali, was no surprise. Lieutenant Ghan's somber baritone called across the void to the Runabout crew.
"Runabout Willamette, you are cleared for docking. Welcome home."
