Weak eyes, good ears Rolen thought to himself as he listened to the two Officers piloting their craft. If it wasn't such a dire situation this would be greatly amusing... He stepped forward and interjected.

"Both of your scenarios are dangerous and potentially very costly... however I can tell you from personal experience that there is no talking to the Tal'Harton. The best we can hope for is to alert your people and go willingly into their claws. We'll be placed into a 're-education center' and with any luck your crew will rescue us. I don't relish the idea of being taken by these creatures -- they hate the Vorta in particular -- but I dislike the idea of death a little bit more and the way of subterfuge and battle is a guarantee for a slow and painful death."

Qech's voice was quiet. "The distress signal has already been sent. We'll just have to be vigilant."

"With all due respect, Ambassador. We have a high ranking, Founder serving, Dominion prisoner. That gives us something in common with the Tal'harton. You may not be able to talk to them, but with you in our hands, so to speak, we have an edge. The Federation is completely unknown to them. Modulating a Graviton beam will not disrupt much on their ship, but sending that beam into their deflector dish will surely disrupt them enough to demonstrate the extensive power of our small ship." Uvek smiled, "At the very least that, coupled with our lack of fear at the Dominion will throw the unknown into their calculations."

He looked at the Commander. "Your orders are understood, ma'am."

Rolen looked aghast at Lieutenant Uvek, his mouth having dropped open as the Romulan had spoken.

"You meant to use me as... as some sort of bargaining chip? Lieutenant you don't know who you're dealing with here. These creatures are religious zelots. Just because you come bearing one of their enemies as a gift doesn't mean you'd be granted any lenience. You also don't know anything about their technology, how can you be sure your graviton beam would do anything to them? And even if it does disrupt their systems, we'll have been upgraded from potential converts to hostile aliens. We'll be destroyed..."

He stood back up to his full height -- not particularly imposing -- and looked down his nose at the Lieutenant.

"If that is your plan then I'd rather take my chances with them, thank you very much."

Qech's face echoed Rolen's surprise at Uvek's bold statement. "A Dominion prisoner, Lieutenant? We will do no such thing. I have to agree with the ambassador. This plan is far riskier than simply taking our chances with the Tal'Harton. I'm sorry Mr. Uvek, but it is simply not an option."

"It's called a BLUFF, Ambassador. Being in the diplomatic corps you must be familiar with that by now. We demonstrate that our small craft has more power to affect them than they think. We take Dominion prisoners. Not just that, but Vorta, personal servants to the Founders themselves. Just imagine what will happen if they tamper with our efforts."

He turned to the Commander. "We gamble that the graviton beam disrupts their subspace fields and sensors enough to shake them up. Then we insinuate that our starships are far larger. We could even have a doomsday weapon on board. How can they know?" He smiled at the Vorta. "For once I got under that pale white skin of yours, eh?"

Qech shook her head.

"I would never fold with a straight-flush in my hand, Lieutenant. Would you?"

The Vorta shook his head and looked Uvek in the eye.

"You once complained that I wasn't giving you the information you needed to be useful on the Hartington... well here I am, giving you important information about this potentially deadly enemy. They will neither believe your threats nor care about them. The moment you stop being potential converts you are eliminated. End of story. They will not bother talking after you fire off your beam. They will not stand down. They will not retreat. We. Will. Die. That vessel outguns the Pike, we wouldn't last long enough to get away and even if we did it would catch up to us and then blow us out of the stars. Getting under my skin? Yes, Lieutenant, people with death wishes often do, especially when they're helping to decide my fate!"

Uvek smiled. "Well, while his reaction was worth the suggestion, perhaps I have watched too many holographs with Dr. Bashir during my time on Deep Space 9. I have no fear of capture. Perhaps we can detonate the warp coils in their hold, while we wait for rescue." He laughed thinking about Rolen's white skin going paler.

"Dr. Newell, I think it may behoove you to give Mr. Rolen a tranquilizer now. I must repeat my original postion then, When faced with a bevy of impossible options, choose the one that allows you to live and fight another day."

The Ambassador rolled his eyes and sat back down into his chair. Meanwhile, outside the shuttle the Tal'Harton vessel overtakes them and the com lights up with an audio only message.

"Hu'lan vessel, your vessel is to be impounded and your crew remanded to the nearest re-education center. Stand by for docking procedures."

That brought Uvek back to himself. He spun around and manned his station, his thoughts were on the Commander's unborn baby. Rolen could take care of himself, and Doctor Newell would need supervision.

"Doctor," he called out. Whatever happens, do your best to stay with the Commander and Mr. Rolen. She will need your services."

"i agree Uvek, Mr Rolen, i kindly advise that you . . . . .stay silent, just in case you get us further in the kratomak"
I hope he doesn't speak Klingon, Oliver thought.

(OOC: Why do i need supervision?)

(OOC: Ha ha - Uvek just hasn't figured you out yet. You seem to him at times on the verge of a clark kent melt down.... Very Happy )

Curious, he thought to himself. I strive to learn the Federation's ways and blend in, yet it appears my Tal Shiar training will be more important than ever!

"Hu'lan vessel, your vessel is to be impounded and your crew remanded to the nearest re-education center. Stand by for docking procedures."

Qech took a deep breath as the words sank in. She didn't respond to the message. Some part of her didn't want to give them the satisfaction of her direct compliance. She did, however, power down the shuttle's weapons so they wouldn't get the wrong idea and attempt to fire on them.

All we can do now is wait.

She looked back to her crew, and spoke quietly. "Not a word to them about the Hartington. They can't know about their situation or they may take advantage of it. And if you have a god, or something like it to pray to... I suggest you do it now."

"I don't have a god, but i think i will pray anyway, better late than never don't you think?"

Oliver smiled weakly and looked around the cramped shuttle.

"Commander, Lieutenant, Ambassador, i bid you good luck."
