So tell me what you're thinking about the Hartington game, good bad and ugly. What can we change, what do you love and what else can you think of? I'd like to actually hear why you vote the way you did.

For my part this is the first RPG that I have taken part in for about.....10 years?! I have just gotten into research and development again. Uvek has a lot of potential to me, and in this environment, I see where our characters are beginning to mesh, flesh out and develop.

It's a lot of work, no doubt, and I am really impressed with the skills you all have displayed in putting this on. Especially the avatars.

One thing that might help to smooth play a bit, is to rotate the ships. Do Hartington until the mission is done, then do Guardian. That will allow us to focus on each character, and play them to the hilt. It may also help each Captain to take a break in directing all the action! I was kinda shocked to see Gaer kick the bucket! But, either way, it is a brain-test and I am loving it!

I'm kind of in the same boat... been a while since I've joined an RP and am getting into the groove of it again.

i really do enjoy the diversity of the characters, and really like watching them all develop and become a team!

The two ships does seem to tear people's focus around though... I must agree with the idea of perhaps working with one ship at a time.

other than that, I'm quite enjoying myself and seeing just what I can (and may) be able to do with my characters!

The rotating mission makes sense to me except... We are deliberately limiting what people can have for characters, ie, since one of my characters is command rank the others can't be, can't have a million different characters, etc. I'm gratefully for the thought of a break, but I prefer keeping things moving myself, I don't have tons of time everyday, but I like there being action myself, even if I have two or three characters on different ships busy. Holy run on sentence batman! Anyway, I would prefer both sims going at the same time myself.

With regards to focusing wholly upon one game at a time: I do not like this idea. It forces the players that only wanted one character to make a second one and forces one CO to stop his/her game in favor of another for an unspecified amount of time. What happens when we add more Sims to the Task Force? I'm currently in negotiations with an outside Simulation to bring them into TFG, we can't ask them to practically abandon their sim when it gets out of rotation.

If there are folks who are having a hard time focusing on more than one character and do not particularly want to do so, no one will be upset with them if they decide to stay aboard one ship or the other and drop the a character. You have the right to only play one character or as many as you can keep up with.

That all said, I'm glad those polled thus far are enjoying the game. I want to hear more comments and concerns though, lets keep voting folks!

Just threw that suggestion out there, I for one am having no problem focusing and I enjoy playing all the characters I created. They keep me on my toes. I hope you have luck bringing the other sim online. That should make things particularly interesting.

This may not be the forum to ask but;; WHAT HAPPENED TO GAER? Man, I expected McKlaggen, or some other red shirt, but that is quite a shock.

In all honesty I wasn't getting into the character and wanted to try something else... so I killed him.

So far I've found that my main frustration seems to be something I really can't help, and that's the timezones that people post from. I always feel a bit like I'm a step behind everyone... but like I said, that's nothing that can really be fixed!

Other than that, I'm happy with my character on the Hartington and am still just waiting for an oppertunity to get my character actually into the simm on the Gaurdian... seems I missed my chance when it started up and haven't found an opening since...

so yeah.... just my thoughts, like I said, not much can be done about the first, but wanted to speak up on it anyways.... I'm still tired so I don't know if it makes sense at all!

You just HAD to go and make the Brikar look bad. How do you think this is going to reflect on my service record. Sheesh.

So far the only major issue we've come across is keeping track of timeframes and what the status of crew/systems is and I have a possible way of mitigating some of this.

Thankfully, we run most missions/plots in their own threads. Perhaps the first (or second) post in the thread should be an updated OOC status/whosit/whatsit post managed by whomever is in command of that current thread. For example, I was in command of the Runabout Willamette - Dilithium Mining subplot. The first post was the Cap'n setting the stage, the second could have been from myself with a crew manifest, destination, stardate, status of the runabouts systems, etc. If this were 'reality' or even some form of game, it would be pretty easy to get a crew check and a status check of the ship, but here we only have our wits. This would be an easy way to keep things in sync. Then, when a change happens...for example when three of us left the runabout, that would be reflected in the status post.

This would allow someone who has taken a bit of a leave of absence to get a quick status update and help to prevent confusion.

I have also started a habit that was mentioned by someone after our last plot. I have not read the other threads, besides the ones my characters have been directly involved in. I have no clue what is going on with the Pike and the Columbia, besides what would be told to my character. This has really helped to prevent my character from being almost omniscient and aware of too much...I'm totally in the dark. As scary as that sounds, it actually has made this entire arc a lot more fun and 'realistic' for me.

I too have kept to that idea... mainly because it would take me far to long to read ALL the currently active threads... and I like only getting bits and pieces from the other active ones, it does a bit more of a thrill to it all, when one doesn't know what's going on anywhere other than where you are!

and I like the idea of a 'update' post with who's who and what's what in the thread... it's sound logic!

okay... back to my cleaning.

Well, on the point of not reading the other threads, I just have to read them, they are too much fun to miss. It's all about integrity. I realize we all have integrity, but I'm talking about character integrity. When I post something from Uvek, I do it only from the standpoint of my research into the Romulan people, and the various websites I have joined.

My effort is to take this as a Star Trek tv epsiode. You know what is happening with everyone, but everyone still responds and the unknown is always present. In the current situation, I never predicted it would go this way. I truly thought we would all be brain washed, rescued, and have to deal with that. Then, when everyone was returned to normal, Uvek's memories would be restored and Hartington would learn something valuable for the future. Well, we'll see. I just like watching and reading everyone's predicament, and the responses are unique, original and fun.....so, long story short, or short story long.....I am going to keep reading them, and waiting for the commercials...LOL

Making quick post, really sick for the last little bit. I decided like many it seems not to read any of the other posts. Well that is until I had a chance to interact with Pike and her crew. Once you have read both story lines, you can see my call to the Pike arrived just perfectly with no one being home. To me this worked better and more Star Trek-ish than having the crew respond. All the better because as I was writing the call to the Pike i was reading what had happened up to that point. And once I sent the transmission I stopped reading (after the ooc stuff). To me this motivates McTavish to charge after his friends and crewmates, with no idea what is happening to them.
I definitely want to apologize to everyone but mostly to the two captains. The quality of my work has drastically fallen off with me getting sick. Im doing my best to keep up with McTavish but Im having a really rough time with Surok. Im doing my best to get better so i can do my best on here. I am having a great deal of fun though and thank you all for the efforts you are all putting into this.

(So much for short)
