I know the general consensus here is that the new trek is a bad move. I but I love it as it's own thing, and am very excited to see where they take it. _________________

In the official poll most of us voted we liked the movie... so I think the consensus is we likes it, as you say, for its own thing.
As for potential plot points for Star Trek XII... it could be anything. I personally want to see an original story and not a rehash of the old. What about you guys? _________________

As much as I would LOVE to see Khan (KHAAAANNNNNNNN) on the silver screen again, I want to see an original story as well. The content of that story bodes well for a new original story as the writers mention they are reading novels and fanfic.
I also like that they have mentioned wanting to do some TNG plots. Borg vs TOS(abramsified) ships? can you say nerdgasm! _________________

As I understand it, they have optioned the actors/actresses for 4 to 5 films, I think the borg would be cool, but maybe save that for 3 (or 4 if they do a two parter) and try a different tack/new story for the next one(or two). _________________

JJVerse Borg would be SOOOOOO pretty...
...I wonder if the Borg can adapt to the ever dangerous lens flare... _________________

I am not sure how a Borg cube would look coming from the Apple store?
Nevermind, just figured it out:

So we picked up the DVD today (actually it was a gift from our roommate, thank you Byll!) and just watched it. It was more beautiful than I remember! The music was particularly great, but Alaina and I couldn't help but marvel at the casting choices once again for Dr. McCoy and Mr. Scott. Karl Urban and Simon Pegg are perfect (even though Mr. Urban is from New Zealand... I mean freakin' Éomer plays Dr. McCoy!). All in all I say again my friends, I enjoyed the hell out of this film. _________________

All I can possibly imagine is tribbles. You know if they do enough movies, the little fluffballs will need at least a bit part. _________________

Here's the rub.....despite current feelings for TOS, this is, in fact TOS from a modern perspective (albeit, from my standpoint a rather distant and disturbing one....spock and uhura, really!) Anyway, that aside it is an intersting thought when one considers it, and I think it tends to explore the possibility that perception and perspective are everything when playing in this realm of science fiction.

speaking of borg;;;;; just watched First Contact again. I think of the TNG movies, it is my favorite. I like the scene where Worf says "Assimilate this!" haha
Of course Picard really rose up in that movie to me. Everything about it was good. Well, everything except the queen. Sorry, I still don't get it. Still, spraying that b...ch with coolant was too good for her! LOL
My favorite line.....Data says "1.8 seconds. For an android that is an eternity."
My favorite scene.....Deanna Troi and Riker discussing Cochran in the makeshift bar.....haha
Funniest scene to me....the EMH scene...."Borg implants are known to cause severe skin irritations...perhaps an analgesic creme?" LOL _________________

I just noticed this when I re-watched the movie (didn't see it the first time) but if you look closely, when they first introduce Scotty (when he's dosing with his feet on the table) you can see he has a pet tribble in a cage next to him. Tribbles got a cameo! _________________

Ah good, that out of the way we probably don't have to worry about any more tribbles in the future and can concentrate on a bit more serious plot. _________________

If you were a Klingon you wouldn't think they were anything less than serious plot. _________________
