Yup, I'm a frenchie, also on my father's side. French/Blackfoot Indian. From my mom's side I got Noyes and Sullivan. English/Irish. So one side of my family is all dark-haired, dark-skinned, brown-eyed (which is everything I inherited) and the other side is blue/green eyes, blond hair and 'hand me the SPF50' skin (which is what everyone else inherited lol). I really look like I don't fit in on my mom's side (and, personality-wise, I don't). _________________

haha......well, I'm french/english...my family was the first family to settle Mapelton, Maine. Our little group has a colorful, if not a little sickening, history. We can trace our family line back to the original Neddeau/Thomas line first entering the country. I only inherited my father's need to travel and nothing else.
Great to get to know members of the team a little better. An d 2 frenchies anywhere can always spell trouble...LOL _________________

Excellent! Another Dane! Technically I mostly have German heritage, but I identify mostly with Danish as it is the source of my Surname. _________________

I'll trade you a croissant for some Frikadeller meatballs!
And if anyone has any question of my heritage, all they have to do is look at my hair. The overall impression is kind of a milk chocolate-brown, but if you look close there are streaks of blond and red. The Indian, English and Irish genes are having a mud-brawl on my head.
...And what about those meatballs? _________________

cool. I always thought my name was changed from the traditional french Nadeau, but no, it is Neddeau from the original thread. Thomas is the other side of the family, and I understand that the mix occurred here in the states during the early 1800s...kinda cool. _________________

That's cool. A lot of names get morphed through the generations, so it's nice to see one that didn't. I know Pouliot has changed, the pronunciation did at least. I have no idea what it used to be. My paternal Grandmother though, her maiden name, 'BeauPre', didn't change (until she married my Papa, Ovilla Pouliot... Yeah. Superfrench). So she became Mona Anita BeauPre Pouliot lol. Her mother was 100% Blackfoot Indian, and I really wish I knew what her maiden name was. I'll bet it was cool. I wish I had asked my father before he died, but with so many things, I didn't think to. _________________

Speaking of names that change..
My lastname is Herrington (pronounced as its spelled, a ton of fish). it is also spelled Harrington (pronounced the same). The split happened ages ago, 1/2 the family was horse thieves in jolly old Wales so the other half took off to poland and changed the a to an e or so the story goes. Tracking that geneology back, most of my family is Polish and Eastern European. Pass me the pierogi, Goulash, bigos, and pizza with ketchup (thats right, look it up!). Claim to fame of the modern day Herringtons - Charles Lindbergh is my Great Grandmother's second cousin! Woot!
Interestingly enough, Im adopted so tracking my actual family name puts me deep in Cherokee Indian territory. The Gillihan's greatest claim to fame is my Great Grandpa who was a famous Fiddler and that we are (distantly) related to Old Abe Lincoln. If you're ever in Northern Arkansas, you'll bump into SOMEONE I'm related to. The Family tree comes over from England to there and never leaves.
Wanna talk about strange reunions? I show up at a Herrington reunion (typically northern folks) and my southern accent sticks out like a sore thumb. At a Gillihan reunion, I get mocked for being a "damn yankee".
And as a fun twist of genetics, I look just like my Great Uncle Al, on the Herrington side. He's my grandmother's twin brother and the last time he was in the area, we did double-takes. His highschool yearbook picture and mine look like we could be brothers. And yet, no blood relation at all. Sometimes, life puts you where you are supposed to be. _________________

Not that I'm intentionally trying to get this back on topic, but just noticed the Captain of the Challenger has a real name! WOOT! Anywho excited to get started, I've got this guy with a scottish accent in my head that I need to get out there (and I was so sure he was a Brit when I created him!) _________________

I was going to go with a Middle Easterner, but I decided in the end on a Welsh name. I'm looking forward to it myself. Our Armory Officer should be joining in the next day or two, once he's on board I'll start us off. _________________

Filled out a little more of the Challenger website today. I need to come up with some history, but since the ship is brand spanking new it will probability be the history of the conflict with the Romulan Empire. My brother is going to be our MACO chief/Armory Officer... still waiting on him to post up his character however. Damn dirty ape. Once that is set I'll start a new topic so that we can introduce our character to each other in an OOC setting and settle who is going to take the post of XO. _________________
