taking a deep breath she couldn't believe she was about to say what she really wanted to. It had to be some kind of record for her.
"Firstly Sir, I'd like to thank you for your vote of confidence in me. I'm sure it didn't come easily." she swallowed and took another deep breath, trying to keep herself from saying more than was needed. "Second Sir, I'd like to inquire as to why you didn't inform the Captain of what took place on the planet's surface."
Her violet eyes fluxed in dialiation as her heartbeat skipped. She wasn't sure why she was nervous... not like she'd never been de-comissioned for such acts before. perhaps... she thought to herself it's because I've come to like this ship, and crew... _________________

Talbert stood a little straighter and smoothed his tunic by tugging at the bottom. He looked at the Lieutenant and quietly responded.
"We are a long way from home crewman. We need to work as a team and recognize that each member of that team is essential. It was your first action with this staff, and I'm willing to accept you may not have had time to react, given the terrain." He took a deep breath.
"Also, the captain has his hands full, and I made a tactical decision. However, Commander Roekil is your superior officer, he knows of the events and it is his decision and place to decide how to handle it. He'll also be the one to decide if my suggestion to have you lead the away team security detail will be accepted." He smiled then.
"That said, I kind of like the idea of the Tal'harton running from us for a change. Just be a little more conscious of your surroundings and teammates next time. Agreed?" _________________

A small smile graced her face. She wasn't used to a superior officer having even a hint of respect for her.
"Yes Sir, I see your point." she said and looked down turning to walk away, but thought better of it. "And Sir.... thank you. It's been a long time since anyone showed me even a fraction of trust" she spoke the last without making eye contact and quickly walked away from him.
damn... shouldn't have said that... she thought to herself as she headed for the turbo lift. _________________

Talbert watched after her, then turned his attention to the viewscreen, sitting in his chair on the command deck and watching for Commander Roekil.
No doubt, he thought to himself, he thought the same thing 20 years ago. _________________

ACTION
Everyone begins prepping for what could be a long and stressful journey as the Chief Engineer begins his modifications.
OOC I'm going to move this to a new thread, partly for the story shift and partly as this thread is getting a little long. Look for "A Long Strange Trip" _________________
