"Hmmm, Grazerites don't value private time like most other species, but I did want to see the mines. Very well. All the repairs are in progress and winding down, so the crew can handle finishing up. Thank you commander." _________________

Talbert nodded in acknowledgement. "Good for you, Lieutenant. I'll contact you if anything happens."
Talbert moved off to meet the captain. Just one more piece of business. _________________

OOC I'm going to leave this open for a few days to tie up some loose ends, look for the Guardians adventure to continue on "The Dark Side of the Nebula" sounds like a bad Star Wars novel, I know _________________

OOC looking at Talberts post.
Marek sat at the command chair on the bridge, reading through a stack of progress reports. He had spent yesterday on the planet's surface, meeting with several local officials, including Tarsis, and visiting several points of interest. He now was a day farther behind on his duties, but was rapidly catching up as he took the bridge watch. _________________

Talbert emerged from the turbolift to the bridge. His captain was sitting in the command chair and the routine was underway. He strode across one of the largest bridges in the star fleet and leaned on a rail beside and slightly behind Captain Marek.
"Sir," he said, breaking into the captain's concentration. "I would like to have a moment in private if I may."
A moment later, they were in the captain's ready room and Talbert was sitting in a chair before the captain's desk. He seemed relaxed but not flip, this was clearly a business call, Marek saw. Still, he started out hesitantly, almost apologetically for the first part.
"Sir, with the death of Commander Roekil and the personnel shifts recently, we are short one position; that of Second officer. This shore leave has kind of brought that home to me in spades." He laid a PADD on the captain's desk. On it was a personnel file with notations.
"With that in mind I would like to put my two cents in and recommend Liutenant Kuplo for the post. I know he's young and recently promoted, but he's also diligent, the crew like him and I think the fast-track to command is only going to bring out the real meat. What do you think?"
Throwing the pitch out, Talbert leaned back to listen. His captain was wise and proven and Talbert knew the thought had all ready occurred to him, but it was time to put it on the table. The only question now was which direction the vulcan would take. Still, he felt confident that Mehvra Kuplo was the best choice, and logic should find the same conclusion. _________________

Marek glanced at the PADD, then looked up to his First Officer. He studied him for a moment, his mind going over how much he already counted on the human officer.
"I agree, Commander. I would like you to handle the details, whether you have an official function or a private meeting, I believe it will be a good experience for you. I will, of course, assist in anyway you see fit." He clasps his hands together, waiting for his XO's response. _________________

Talbert was pleasantly surprised by the edict. It was captain's perogative and priviledge and for Marek to pass it to him was an honor.
"Thank you captain. I will put it together for the day before we leave the shipyard. That will give Mehv a chance to review the post and get used to the idea. I will forward details to you as soon as they are ready."
He rose and nodded to his commanding officer. "Captain, with your permission, I'll get things in order."
(OOC: I'll open a secondary storyline for it "PROMOTING GROWTH" _________________
