•It appears as if the Queen might actually be hiding away a little bit of closet geek. This year, Her Majesty will reportedly be knighting Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (aka Patrick Stewart) from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation,' of whom she is supposedly "a huge fan." Sir Patrick will be joining his 'X-Men' nemesis Magneto (aka Sir Ian McKellen) among the ranks of sci-fi knights. [From: Sci Fi Wire]

Good for him. He is one of those rare actors that keeps away from controversy all of his life and seems to really take his craft seriously. I enjoyed him immensely as both Scrooge and Captain Ahab. He draws on a deep emotional well in his work, and I have always admired him as the captain.

Congrats and make it so!

Thought I would point out that he was an accomplished Shakespearean actor before he reached pop culture fame with Star Trek. I'm actually surprised he hasn't had more awards on this end of the pond, but either way it's well deserved I feel.
