Talbert looked at Captain Marek. "Orders sir?" He inquired. _________________

Marek takes a position in the center of Operations, taking in the reports. He turns to Talbert, "Raise shields, arm plasma weaponry." He pauses for a moment, "Hail the incoming vessel, all frequencies." _________________

Daniels contacted Guardian. "Mr. Taarak, you're gonna want to move out." A moment later, he turned to the captain. "Guardian is clear, shields up. Hailing frequencies open, incoming transmission."
The ship onscreen came into visual range and slowed, then stopped. It was massive and clearly a Tal'harton warship. A face appeared on the viewscreen but it was of a tall, pale skinned humanoid with large grey eyes.
"I am Uurandan, commander of the Tal'harton flagship Vesper, and subjucate to Inquisitor Hizhana." He began. "You are holding citizens of the Holy Order of Tal. You will release them to us, or face destruction." _________________

Marek glanced at his officer as he spoke, "I am Captain Marek, of United Federation of Planets. We are currently holding members of your species that attacked our station. I am willing to negotiate for their release, if I can be assured they will be tried accordingly." _________________

Uurandan shook his head. "There will be no negotiation. Inquistior Vell was operating under the authority and guidance of the great Tal, and securing his empire. You are invaders in this region of space."The tall officer leaned back into his chair, glancing offscreen as though listening to someone unseen. He nodded.
"However, in the interests of retrieving a holy Inquisitor and his coil, we are prepared to permit your continued existence for the moment. We will dispatch a vessel for them and remove ourselves from this sector until such time as Tal decrees." He leaned forward. "Please understand, Captain Marek, this is a rare mercy and extended but once to non-believers." _________________

Marek hesitates for a moment, then responds, "I am inclined to deny your request, but in the interest of peace between our two governments, I will release the prisoners. Dock your transport as per our transmitted directions, and they will be transferred to your ship when ready." Marek motions for Talbert to end transmission. Once the screen goes blank, he turns to Talbert. "I used anestazine on our guests, they may need to be wakened. I do not see any other option, although I believe Admiral Croft will be disappointed." _________________

Talbert nodded in agreement with his captain. "I agree on all points, sir. Better to avoid all out war, at least for now. Besides, the realignment on the core isn't complete. We'd lose power halfway into any contest and with the fleet still days away, there's little doubt we'd be wiped." He nods to the security officer and said, "Prep the prisoners for transport aboard their ship. Under no circumstances are the Tal'harton to step foot on the station. I want additional security standing by the docking bay in case there's any trouble."
He looked to Daniels. "Let Guardian know we're going to have some company and to stand ready but quiet." Daniels acknowledged the order and transmitted the message to the ship.
In due course a medium sized transport detached from the Vesper and approached the station. When it was within range the 40 plus prisoners were transported aboard and the ship returned to the flagship. A few moments later, the familiar face of Inquisitor Vell appeared.
"Captain Marek, rest assured that you, particularly, hold a special place in the will of Tal. It is only a matter of time."
The screen went blank, and the ship withdrew. _________________

feeling the sedative kicking in her eyes fell closed as she felt someone help her lay back. drifting somewhere between sleep and awake, she could hear the alarms and part of her brain wouldn't let her sleep.
wake up... your crew needs you... the small voice in her head screamed out at her and she felt herself fighting through the sedative.
"have......... to..... needs........ help....." she muttered seconds apart from each other trying to make her body obey her mind and her need to fight...
move your ass.... the alarms are going off and you're going to lay in bed?! the voice in her head screamed even louder and she fought against the heaviness in her limbs which only succeeded in rolling her right arm off the bed. _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Bridge
Taarak walked around the back portion of the bridge — more or less pacing — the Guardian had an open comm link on the conversation between the Tal'harton warship and Captain Marek.
Taarak looked at the ensign manning security, "Ensign, put us at yellow alert. Keep shields down, but be ready to raise them and bring weapons online if anything happens."
The ensign nodded. "Aye Sir, putting us at yellow alert."
Taarak made his way down to the flight control center. "Nice job moving us out of there so quickly Ms. Tanaka. Bring us into a stand-by position. We may have to move between the station and the Tal'harton at a moments notice and I want us to be ready."
Taarak turned to face the rest of the bridge and let out a deep sigh. "Taarak to Captain, we're at yellow alert and at stand-by, awaiting any orders. Just let us know if you want us to knock them out of the sky."
Taarak winced, just realizing what he had said over an open comm, hoping the captain wouldn't catch it. It was his rebellious attitude getting it's little say in. "Damn-it." Taarak whispered to himself. _________________

ACTION
The senior staff is gathered in the newly designated conference room on the station. Ensign Lenara is giving a progress report. Captain Marek sits at the head of the table, Commander Talbert at his right and Lt Kuplo at his left. Also at the table sits Lt VanQuax, almost fully recovered from her injuries with her rapid healing and cleared for duty, Lt. Taarak sits next to her watching the proceedings. Lt. Harper and Dr. Malen sit across the table, representing their departments. Lastly, Lt. Thomas sits at the far end of the table, as acting head of Ops.
Lenara pointed to the viewscreen, which had a diagram of the space station and the debris field surrounding it.
"This area of the debris field, which separates the station from the nebula, is almost fifty percent cleared. Sensor range has already been nearly doubled on that side. We should have this section of the field cleared by the time our supply ships arrive." On screen, the diagram zooms out, showing more of the nebula. "As you can see on screen, there are sections of the nebula that are thinner than the rest. These sections are where the station's mining robots had been gathering the necessary elements to fuel the station. The nebula has drifted back in over the last two hundred years, but I calculate we can have the section that is the closest to a direct line to the wormhole cleared by the time the Starfleet vessels arrive, greatly increasing the speed they can traverse the nebula." The screen adjusts again, "We can clear several of these 'paths' through the nebula, allowing for trade vessels to reach the station as well as other traffic." Lenara looks over the crowd, "The crew has made excellent progress, I am sure we will be ready for anything within the next week." _________________

Talbert leaned forward. "I may have missed something here, but did you indicate you know the location of the wormhole? I thought we were only speculating on that. If so, what is hindering us from researching it while the main crew stays here and preps for the fleet's arrival?" _________________

OOC, I'm going to be tied up a bit until probably late tomorrow or early Saturday, I think I will start a new thread at that point, 16 pages is a bit long. As for the wormhole, I did a skim of the first few pages and didn't see a mention, must have been a brainstorming session. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves if you like IC wise _________________
