Talbert listened to Dorin and Lenara politely before nudging the Guardian's newest member of leadership aside.

"Lieutenant," he said in an aside. "I want you to know this post didn't come lightly. Since your transfer from the Hartington, you've really excelled. There are other officers on board more qualified from a personnel perspective, but I just didn't see them shining through. I hope you'll use this opportunity to develop your command skills. You're a fine engineer, but personnel are not machines, for the most part," this last with a glance at Lenara and a sly smile.

"I will be available to help you in any way I can. Part of your new duties will be personnel reviews. That should get you well familiar with the crew, and in Gamma shift you'll have a great opporunity to take some of the Starfleet Command courses. Take advantage of them."
