He was a bit whiny lol. But, I am proud of myself for having thought of an example, even if the circumstances for his prolonged... Ensign-ness... were extraordinary.
On a side note, welcome to the Simm Lillian! (I've always been fond of that name, by the way, so good choice.) I'm Alaina, and I play Lt. Commander Davynn Qech on the Hartington. I hope you have fun here. _________________

I think it just became something of a joke after awhile. "Ensign Kim" just sort of became permanent, whether he liked it or not. _________________

I liked Voyager, but then again I haven't met a Star Trek I don't like... at least not one that I wouldn't watch. Even Enterprise grew on me after a while.
Dana, welcome to the game, I hope that you enjoy your time here with us! My name is Tom, I'm the CO (Commanding Officer) of the Hartington and the C-in-C of the Task Force. This whole thing was my brainchild, but I couldn't have pulled it off without the help of these great folks. If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask me. _________________

I think we will keep having fun. |

We're (Alaina and I) are doing the same thing! We each have a computer (plus two others waiting in the wings if something happened) and we're about five feet apart. _________________

I can make the adjustments to rank, but I always have kind of assumed that Starfleet was kind of like the US military, ie if you graduate with a degree from the Air Force Academy, you start your military career as a Lt. Junior Grade. As for the station, I have my character going on the DS27 page
http://taskforcegamma.com/ds27/
Maybe we should copy Lillian's bio to that one.
What a putz, I should have said "WELCOME LILLIAN!"
I all business this morning it seems _________________

A person who graduates from the United States Air Force Academy receives a Bachelor of Science degree and is commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (O-1) which is comparable to an Ensign (O-1) in the United States Navy and Coast Guard. A Lieutenant Junior Grade (O-2) in the Navy or Coast Guard is equivalent to a First Lieutenant (O-2) in the other services.
A second lieutenant is usually promoted to first lieutenant after 18 months in the Army or 24 months in the Air Force and Marine Corps. The difference between the two ranks is slight, primarily being experience and higher pay. It is not uncommon to see officers moved to positions requiring more experience after promotion to first lieutenant. For instance, in the Army and Marine Corps these positions can include leading a specialty platoon, or assignment as the Executive Officer for a company-sized unit (65-150 soldiers).
In the Air Force, a first lieutenant may be a flight commander, although in an operational unit, a first lieutenant is generally a rated officer (pilot, navigator, or air battle manager) who has just finished training for his career field and has few supervisory responsibilities.
Anyhow, that's your military trivia for the day. _________________

I think ensign is fine for now.....we can always assume that promotions follow position in this case. (BY THE WAY, SIR, I CANNOT LOG ONTO THAT PAGE).
Dana is ambivelent to it, so we requested a badge with Ensign on it from Alaina, and she is perfectly happy to play that. We can always promote her in a few months.....no harm, no foul.
In point of fact, it could be that she refused promotions to stay on Admiral Becks team.....I can always adjust her story to accomodate that.
thanks,
