Friends, you may notice a couple changes to the forums Index page. First, the Hudson is gone...second the Alterran Station (DS27) is on standby, read: lockdown, until we are fully ready to activate it. However, at the behest of Captain Brennon, and with the permission of Captain Marek (father of the station simm itself), I am proud to acknowledge that I have an opportunity to develop this simm. Here's what we know (Following is Captain Brennon's):
The way I see it at the moment we have the following for player characters:
Commander Talbert, Station Commander (Transfer from Guardian): Played by Mark
Unidentified Character, Station XO (New character): Played by Colin
Lieutenant Solana, Senior Science Officer (Transfer from Hartington): Played by Tom (I get to be a girl!)
Chief Petty Officer Smith, Chief of Station Security (Transfer from Hartington): Played by Smith
After that I'm not sure who is in the possibilities list...
Cory Drake as a new character
Drake's wife as a new character
Mark's wife as a new character
I can tell you for certain that my wife wants to develop a communications expert for the station and we are currently developing an idea and backstory (she is watching DS9 for ideas), and she is getting interested in Star Trek (remember, she got me to watch Abrams)...I couldn't be prouder because it was this simm that built that interest.
I will contact Cory and see where we are with him and his wife (which I guess I just did).
We would like your feedback, and I would like you to know I have done what I can to recruit and will continue to do as much as possible to send the word.
SO...WHAT DO YOU THINK? (no smart comments about Tom being a girl, either! His wife will be under enough stress..... _________________

Ha! Tom's a girl!
Me, personally, I was torn between waiting (for everyone else's sake. Characters don't always happen overnight) and just going ahead with it. In the end, I went with going ahead with it, simply because I'm representing someone who isn't going to play. I'll be cheering from the sidelines. I do wish you good luck in your endeavor.
And I'll take this opportunity to say again that anyone who needs a new/updated character badge to send me a PM with the appropriate info (full name, rank, position, station- ie: USS Hartington, Guardian, DS-27 etc). I'm not going to make any for the station characters until it's ready to get underway though, so I can do them all at once. (I can't at the moment anyway. Can you tell I miss my photoshop?) _________________

To return this topic train to the tracks it started on:
I voted no. I VERY much believe that we need more people involved in our group before expanding again. I'm worried we keep stretching our resources (our people) out over more and more sims things will start to get mediocre.
At this point, I think we have enough people for one really good sim, two pretty good sims, and three mediocre sims. With Challenger on kind of indefinite hold we have two. If we start a station, which will require a pretty solid commitment to keep entertaining (I wasn't a DS9 fan, can ya tell?) that puts us at 3 plus 1 in limbo. I am of the opinion that is too many.
Either way, I more then likely will not be playing a character. Stations just don't blow my skirt up. _________________

I can appreciate that sentiment. OF course, it goes to the heart of my ability as a story teller. I believe three things are needed, regardless of size of the team. 1) A good storyline to kick things off 2) Consistent posting by the storyteller 3) a willingness to let the story pick up its own life, while aiming for the ultimate goal of the original idea.
With the team we have here I know that we have the creativity to let a story build its own momentum (while guiding it). I think having the Archer onboard allows a good flexibility and we have three main enemies and several potential allies to work with immediately. The Tal'harton, the Dominion, and the Romulans (who would NEVER be content to be kept out of the Gamma quadrant's secrets). The Myosian, the Pel, the Hizkah (my own) and the Freika (mine) all pose ample opportunities. Let's not forget about the unknown wormhole, Station-side intrique and ship-to-shore activities.
I think there's a LOT of meat, and I promise to push the action along consistently.
That said, we need to push for new blood and I'll do my part.

While I am not as ardently against a station as Mr. Calodan here, I can see his point. We need new blood. Badly. As I said in the Command Council, I'll approve the sim, but I won't be unlocking it until we get at least ONE new player. I'm willing to front a character for it, but we won't be starting until someone brings in a fresh body. _________________

Here that folks, RECRUIT! and since I had put this in the command council thread before reading this my character is going to be...
Lieutenant Commander Ando Osaka, Japanese male, early thirties, 6 ft tall 180 lbs. Let's see if we can't get two or three people for the new simm. _________________

I like the idea of a new DS Station. I was a HUGE fan of DS9, and am using a lot of that for how Chief Smith (we're gonna have to explain the accelerated promotion somehow...) will be dealing with a new post (thinking about adding his wife as an NPC), new issues and a new chain of command...
The concept is sound, and I'm with Mark on it... Despite being back to school full time, I find TFG a great way of blowing off steam...
So I say ONWARD AND UPWARD WARRIORS OF THE TASK FORCE!! _________________

Hey everyone,
As Mark said, I am definitely on board with this, but of course unlike many of you, I only have two characters and wouldn't mind doing a third, but I do believe we need fresh blood as well.
I agree with the plan of keeping it locked until we get at least one new person involved (don't worry, I'm still trying to talk my wife into doing it, she's pretty stubborn (shhhh, don't tell her I said that).
I'll also do my part in trying to recruit new folks as well.
Keep up the great work everyone,
Cory D. _________________

OK...here's the roster pending new blood:
Commander Roger Talbert - Station Commander
LT. Commander Ando Osaka - Station XO/Archer commander
LT. Zeara - Chief Diplomatic Officer
Chief Petty Officer Smith - Chief Tactical/Security Officer
LT. Solana - Chief Science Officer
Cory Drake - Unknown position/Character - possible
Ensign Kayle - (Dana Neddeau) Comms Officer - application underway
We could use Chief Engineer, we could use Chief Operations Officer (usually XO, but I didn't want to presume)....etc.
Just an update. _________________

I'm going to start posting to some of the boards that were listed in the recruitment thread, I'm going to use a standardized post. This is my rough draft (and also a chance to test/tweak my links) tell me what you think. I don't know about the links, maybe it's not worth the effort if most the forums don't allow HTML (like this one)
Task Force Gamma is now recruiting!
Do you love Star Trek, love to write, love scifi, or all of the above? Then Task Force Gamma is for you!
Task Force Gamma is set just after the Dominion War, as Starfleet begins deep exploration of the Gamma Quadrant. We currently have plans for simms from other Era's including Enterprise and TOS, with the possibility of a JJ Abrams era simm down the road.
We currently have two ships with active simms going, and a station/ship simm ready to launch.
The Task Force is led by the USS Hartington, an Ambassador class starship Captained by David Brennon.
The second vessel in the fleet is the USS Guardian, an Excelsior class starship Captained by Marek.
We are currently in the final stages of launching the first Federation station in the Gamma Quadrant, DS27, and it's ship, the USS Archer, Defiant class.
We have a multitude of positions available, from Petty officer up through Lieutenant to start, with many opportunities for advancement. Just a few positions available
Chief Medical Officer
Chief Engineer
Junior officers in all sections, Medical, Engineering, Security/Tactical, Flight Ops, Command
We are open to almost all races in the series, although we have some limitations for storyline sakes, but if you can back up your idea with a good story and plausible explanation then exceptions can be made.
Listed below are several links to get you started, we hope to be simming with you soon!
