OOC We are going to shift gears a little bit, give people an opportunity to do a little character development. This story line will officially launch in a day or two, but I want to open the storyline to let people get in the groove.
ACTION
The Guardian approaches the edge of the Letara system. Lieutenant Commander Adams has the bridge, Marek is in his ready room. It's Alpha shift, so senior staff is on duty.
Bridge
Lt. Vanquax
Lt. Commander Adams
Ensign Lenara
Lt. Taarak
Lt. Harper
Dorin the Myosian Diplomatic officer.
Engineering
Lt. Kuplo
Lenara taps out several commands on her console,
"Commander, approaching the Letara system. It is a star system with eleven planets, mostly gas giants except for one planetoid, Letara I, one class M planet, Letara IV, and one class L planet, Letara V. There is an asteroid belt between the ninth and tenth planets. The star is a red giant, which might explain the large number of gas giants. Long range sensors are detecting no signs of intelligent life on any planet." _________________

Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Bridge
Adams lowers a PADD he is reading slightly onto his lap as he gets the report from Ensign Lenara on the planet system the Guardian was entering. "Thank you, Ensign. As we pass through the system, lets have sciences gather any information they can. If anything sparks their interest, we'll take a closer look."
Adams looks around the bridge, the crew all silent as they are working through their duty. The first officer taps the comm system. "Bridge to Captain, we are entering the Letara system. Nothing major to report except one class M planet, a class L planet and the rest are mostly gas giants. Eleven planets total. Sciences will begin their duties on gathering information."
Adams still had the habit of reporting everything to the captain, it is what his former first officer did on his first vessel and it's just stuck with him throughout his young career. Adams picks up the PADD again and begans reading through it again -- crew evaluations from several department heads on crew members in their departments. _________________

Marek looked up from a particular boring report that had been sent to him from the officer in charge of waste management.
"Bridge to Captain, we are entering the Letara system. Nothing major to report except one class M planet, a class L planet and the rest are mostly gas giants. Eleven planets total. Sciences will begin their duties on gathering information."
Resisting the urge to escape the report by heading to the bridge, he taps a button on the console in front of him,
"Acknowledged, adjust course to pass close to the class M planet. Marek out." _________________

Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Bridge.
"Acknowledged Sir," Adams answered the captain, who sounded tired or bored over the intercom, he didn't know the captain well enough to tell the difference yet.
Adams took up out of the center seat and walked ahead a few steps to the flight control station and the ops station where Taarak and Daniels were both focused on their current dutied. The first officer clasped a hand on each of their shoulders. "Taarak, set a course to bring us close to the Class M planet." Adams then looked down at the ops officer. "How are you doing, Mr. Daniels? As we move in closer to the Class M planet, focus more of our sensors on it for our sciences department, give them something to work on."
Adams stood in the spot and looked out the viewscreen as the view changed with Taarak putting in the new coordinates. _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Bridge
Taarak felt the cold hand of the first officer rest on his right shoulder as the Orion worked the control panel and gave him the order of moving past the Class M planet.
"Aye Sir, changing course now," Taarak said, slightly curous as to the Commander's friendliness with the crew -- something he wasn't use to when Talbert was the first officer.
The Orion glanced a look at Daniels, who was also visibly uncomfortable with the commander standing above them with a hand on each of them. _________________

Lenara tapped out a command on the console, "Approaching Letara IV."
Lt. Sarah Harper responded a moment later, "Commander, I am getting very strange sensor readings. With your permission sir, I would like to study it further." Another brief pause, "I am also detecting ruins on the planet's surface.". She looked expectantly at the first officer. _________________

USS Guardian
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo
As the Guardian exits warp and proceeds into the Letara system. The engineering crew starts work repairing the injector manifold. While not presenting a problem during the last run, a misalignment was not something to dismiss in this ship system. It must have been damaged slightly in the scuffle with the Klingon's ships.
As the project gets started, Mehv moves to a replicator and gets a muffin. He thought he had eaten breakfast, but he was reading some reports and didn't remember if he had. Whatever the case, he was feeling a little rundown and needed a boost. _________________

Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Bridge
Adams left the flight control/ops area and walks up to the science station where he over looks the info on Lt. Harper's console. "Strange indeed." Adams turned slightly to Ensign Lenara. "Are you sure there's no life signs down there, Ensign?" Not waiting for an answer from Lenara, Adams turned back to Harper. "We'll stick here as long as you need to, Ms. Harper, do whatever you need to do to study it further."
Adams made his way back to the center seat with a slight skip in his step. He was feeling full of energy and was in a good mood as he took his seat and tapped the comm. "Adams to Captain Marek, just to inform you, we are in orbit around Letara IV. We've detecting some ruins and Ms. Harper is studying them further. Over-and-out, Mr. Captain." Adams laughed slightly. _________________

Marek feels a brief but intense flare of anger as Adams interrupts and then cuts off his transmission before even letting Marek respond. Mr. Captain? Marek takes a moment to breathe deeply before heading towards the bridge.
Lenara waits for Adams to finish his report to 'Mr. Captain' before responding.
"No life signs are detected. The radiation shouldn't be interfering with our readings, but it is a possibility.
Marek enters the bridge at this point, eying his XO warily,
"Mr. Commander, I would appreciate it if you take your ship communications more seriously." He turns to the viewscreen, "Assemble an away team, a first hand look at the ruins would likely be more productive." _________________

Chief Roe sat at a console in Main Engineering, running propulsion simulations. He swore he had slept well the night before, but he felt exhausted. He blinked, realizing he had almost nodded off. Forcing himself to refocus, he typed a few commands. He slumped forward, a light snore coming from him. An Ensign walked by, but knowing how grumpy the Chief could be, he just kept on walking, whistling as he did. I hope Kuplo sees that, what a fight that will be The Ensign laughed all the way to the mess hall, once he had started he couldn't seem to stop. _________________

Daniels couldn't help himself. He burst out laughing.....
"Hey," he called out to no one in particular, "What do you get when you cross a Mugato with a Klingon?" hahahahaha "Something really smelly to keep away from!" BAHHHHHHAAAHAHAHAHA!
He almost fell out of his chair laughing, then stopped abruptly when his eyes lit on Ensign Lenara. He got up from his post and moved slowly across the bridge, coming to rest on her console and leaning in.
"You know, Ensign." He said in his best come-hither voice, "I've always fancied your little android lines. What say you and I visit my place for a pint of...whatever you drink, and we see if you are, you know, fully functional." He grinned from ear-to-ear, proud of himself for being so witty. _________________

USS Guardian - Main Engineering
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo
Chief Roe wrote: | He slumped forward, a light snore coming from him. | A sound interrupts Mehv's reverie with his delicious muffin. This angers him greatly. None of the crew in Engineering has ever seen Mehv angry before and as Mehv stands to his full height his bovine nostrils flaring. He lashes out, "Roe, you sniveling excuse for a Chief, get yourself out of here immediately or I'll toss you out myself! Go sleep away your worthless life somewhere else!".
Chief Roe stirs and blinks a couple of times and looks up to see a terrifying visage standing above him. The stool he was sitting on tumbles over and deposits him onto the deck. He scrambles towards the door and once out into the hallway and out of sight. He sits for a moment to gather himself. He is about to get up to head to his quarters, but the patch of deck hallway carpeting underneath him just looks so comfortable...
Back inside Engineering, a bellowing voice can be heard. Mehv glares at the rest of the Engineering crew who are busily working on anything nearby and fully engrossed in their work and yells, "Computer, platter of muffins!" He walks to the replicator and takes the muffins into his office. _________________

Lenara glances at Daniels, looking down at her, to Captain Marek, who was slowly turning green, to Lt. Harper, who was laughing so hard tears were pouring down her cheeks. She looks back at Daniels,
"Ensign, I hardly think this is the correct time, perhaps we can talk after our duty shift?" She smiled politely as she shifted farther away from him.
His blood began rushing through his ears, blocking out the sound of those around him. Marek clenched his fists, trying to even out his breathing. He finally turned, heading for the turbolift.
"Commander, you have the bridge." He entered the turbolift, then practically screamed,
"SICKBAY!" _________________

"Ensign, I hardly think this is the correct time, perhaps we can talk after our duty shift?"
Daniels points at her in a flashy move with his thumbs in the air.
"That's what I'm talking about, sweetcakes!" He said moving back toward his station. As he approached it, he thumbed a place on the LCARS panel and the shipwide comm activated with a whistle.
"To all you lovely ladies out there, Stevie will be in the deck 8 lounge with his lips puckered making the bartender tuckered! That's all from Command Central, high atop the Vulcan express!"
With a flourish and a bow, he made his way to the turbolift. "Commander, I believe you STILL have the bridge." He entered the waiting lift and moved off to adventures unknown. _________________

Lenara turned her chair to watch Daniels leave, then looked over as Lt. Harper and the helmswoman Lt. Tanaka started giggling together. She looked up to the Commander, an incredulous look on her face, "Commander, I think something is seriously wrong."
Marek stormed into sickbay, slapping several PADDs off of Doctor Malen's desk. "Doctor Malen, something is seriously wrong! I am not due for Pah Far for several years, but I am exhibiting all of the preliminary symptoms. You must treat me immediately!"
Malen watched the whole display, a look of boredom on his face. He yawned before answering,
"I don't see any problem, Captain. These things happen. I have far too many important things to do to deal with your hypochondriac behavior." He picks something out of his fingernail, yawning again. "Why don't you just grab a hypospray and try something out. Your a big boy, I'm sure you can handle it."
Marek grabbed Malen by the front of his shirt, screaming into his face,
"I DEMAND YOU TREAT ME AT ONCE!"
Back on the bridge a call comes in over the comm system, "Security to the ships lounge! We have a food fight in..." Glass can be heard in the background, then maniacal laughter. _________________
