Uvek smoothly relayed the data and then checked his board status. Since the rendesvous with the Alterran station the ship had been completely retrofitted. Everything was tweaked to perfection and the vessel fairly hummed with power. The new warp configuration ordered by the captain prior to entering the Julant wormhole really made a difference. Uvek looked to his teammate, Ensign Phell, and nodded his confidence to the bridge officer.
It looked like another adventure was afoot. Hopefully, this one would be smoother than the last. _________________

Calodan checked his status boards and was quite happy with the information they conveyed.
"Captain, all system's read in the green. There is a minor misalignment in the port lateral sensor arrays, but there is already a team working on it." _________________

"You know Commander, why is it that while we're out here to meet new and interesting people, we keep finding hidden pockets of one's we've met before?"
Qech laughed. "It's too bad. I just needed one more species for 'new and interesting people' bingo."
She shrugged "Well, at least I speak Klingon." _________________

Croft tapped out a few commands once the information arrived at his console, "New heading laid in, Warp 8." The change in the white noise of the ship changed slightly at the new burst of speed. Croft found himself smiling, the old girl was humming like a cat, she seemed to love cruising at higher warp speeds. Croft glanced over at Calodan, glad to have him at Ops once again. This must be what content feels like _________________

Aria leaned forward, interested, her debate with the captain forgotten. An adventure was coming on, clearly, and she found herself eager...and more than a little nervous. She'd never served with this crew before, which made it impossible to predict what might happen in the near future. That uncertainty tickled the edges of her mind and made her palms sweat.
As Croft set the Hartington on its new course she forced herself to lean back again, to soothe suddenly tense muscles. There was nothing she could do at present. Therefore the best thing she could do was relax and wait to see what would happen.
Easy for you to say, she told herself. _________________

ACTION
A short time later, the Hartington arrives at the system emitting the Klingon message. His curiosity peaked, the Captain summons Ambassador Rolen, Doctor Ortega and Lieutenant Korax to the Bridge as they start their investigation.
Location: Main Bridge, USS Hartington
Lieutenant Korax, the ship's resident Klingon, had not been a very active participant in the recent activities aboard the Hartington. Content to transmit his reports of the vessel's activities to the High Council, Korax had stayed away from most of the crew. As such, the Klingon seemed out of place on the Bridge of the starship and distinctly uncomfortable around the mixed crew of the Hartington.
Doctor Ortega and Ambassador Rolen on the other hand seemed perfectly at home with their friends and colleagues.
Rolen hovered around the science station, eagerly awaiting the results of Lieutenant Drake's area scan.
"This is most exciting, isn't it? The more I think about how many Alpha Quadrant natives living here in the Gamma Quadrant the more I wonder if there isn't some design to everything -- just as I've always been taught by the Founders." he looked across the Bridge to Lieutenant Uvek and continued, "You don't think that we will find a lost colony of Romulans out here somewhere, do you Lieutenant?"
Doctor Ortega rolled his eyes and took up a position near the Captain and First officer.
"If that happens I may just eat my... hypospray."
Captain Brennon smiled a little at the friendly banter between the newest arrivals amongst the crew. He knew that the Starfleet Officers around him had grown used to the odd passenger here and there and that their presence, while odd would not be a disruption.
"At the rate we're finding familiar faces we may just end up finding a whole Federation out here" Brennon said, turning slightly towards Rolen.
The Vorta made a face and threw his hands into the air in mock exasperation.
"Founders forbid. I don't think the universe could tolerate two Federations, Captain."
Shaking his head, the Captain turned back around, glancing at both Qech and Lioy for a moment as he waited for Drake to give his report. _________________

"Founders forbid. I don't think the universe could tolerate two Federations, Captain."
Qech laughed.
"If it can tolerate more than one 'Rolen', Ambassador- and it has- then I'm sure the universe has a much thicker skin than we realize." _________________

Rolen looked down the Bridge, a mask of shock across his face as he replies to the First Officer.
"Commander, I may be a clone, but I assure you there is only one Rolen." _________________

Qech turned in her chair and looked toward the Vorta, a sarcastic smile spreading across her face.
"Well, I for one will sleep better tonight having heard that news."
She continued to look in his direction only long enough to catch the shadow of his facial expression, and then faced forward again.
Still facing the view screen, with a smile still on her face, she then addressed Dr. Ortega.
"I hope you have your hypospray and some mustard on you, Doctor, because fate has a way of playing cruel jokes on me." _________________

"You don't think that we will find a lost colony of Romulans out here somewhere, do you Lieutenant?"
Uvek smiled at the comment. "Perhaps so, Ambassador. I am afraid I was not always up on the Romulan expansion program."
Noticing Korax's sneer, Uvek couldn't resist pushing the now present representative. "Any thoughts on the Klingon presence, Lieutenant?" He asked, "Perhaps some tey'be' of yours, eh?" Inwardly Uvek laughed, all the while knowing he would probably hear about this from the captain. Still, Korax was a Klingon, after all... _________________

OOC: I'm still waiting for Drake, I sent him some information to be used by his character. If he doesn't respond by Tuesday evening (when i get home from work) I'm just going to move us forward with the story. Sorry for the delay guys. _________________

(OCC: Sorry guys, it's been a rough week of work) (FYI, the next two weekends are going to be busy for me with Green Bay Packers stuff, so I may be a little slow in responding)
Lt. Cory Drake
USS Hartington
Science station
Drake -- mostly ignoring the Vorta ambassador -- nodded at the Ambassador's remarks just as his console chirped back several bits of information on the planet they approached.
"Captain, according to our sensors, the planet is very similar to what we would consider 14th century Qo'noS," Drake continued to look over the information. "There are several artificial satellites in orbit and ... wow ... nearly 12 million Klingon life signs on the surface."
Drake turned to look at the captain. "I'm double checking that reading now, Sir." Drake turned back to his console, pressed a few commands in and stood, aproaching the captain. "It's confirmed, Sir. Close to 12 million Klingon down there." _________________

Hartington: Main Engineering
The watchful eye of Ghan is upon you! Antonio thought to himself with a snicker as he recalibrate another junction box without use of a tricorder. The tellarite was indeed over his shoulder and keeping an eye on him again today, instead of one of the other engineers, confirming every repair with his own tricorder. It had only been a single rogue program Antonio let loose in the computer, but he had been lucky to stay out of the brig, as he was reminded every day.
"You know," he said conversationally. "I could do this a bit faster with a tricorder, or the ability to even touch a console, just once in a while. I can understand locking me out. Even insisting that other people use the replicator for me. Really, I can. It was a bit over the top what I did... but I gave the Captain my word. I won't write a single program of any sort until he gives me permission again. But you could at least show me the screen! You're allowed to do that much... not that this isn't a fun challenge, but I can do more and keep my word if you'll only let me. It's your engineering, as the Captain put it, and I won't change a thing without your permission."
Was that too much begging? he mused, finishing a last adjustment and listening to the soft harmonic hum of the junction come back into tune.I can't tell with non-humans, not nearly as well. I'm still behind on this curve and I need to catch up. I can earn their trust yet. Hard work always pays off. _________________

A small tone caught Uvek's attention. He switched over his console screen and tapped a series of commands on the digital switch display.
"Phell, confirm this scan." He ordered. The Benzite's fingers responded and in a moment he nodded. "Confirmed, Lieutenant. It's definitely a station of some sort." The security chief looked up.
"Captain, I am detecting a station of some sort, situated at 005 mark 48. It is occupied and transmitting some type of signal throughout the orbitting satellite system." He tapped more switches.
"I cannot confirm the language in the transmission, it is wholly alien to the Universal translator." _________________

As the information about the planet they approach comes in, the Captain makes a snap decision.
"This isn't your usual First Contact scenario. Commander Qech, take a landing party down to the planet, coordinate with Lieutenant Drake to locate a suitable beam-in point. We'll keep a constant transporter lock on your party while you're off ship.
"Lieutenant Calodan, while Commander Qech is keeping the locals busy, I'd like you to take an away team over to that space station and get a look around. Both of you have your pick of the crew for this one.
"Your orders, for both teams, are to get whatever data they can on just how a colony of Klingons ended up in the Gamma Quadrant. Remember, these are not our Klingons, they'll likely be much closer to what Captain Kirk knew than the allies we fought with during the war. Be careful."
Lieutenant Korax stepped forward, standing up to his full height and pushing his chest out.
"Captain, I would like to accompany Commander Qech's landing party."
Brennon looked over to Qech.
"Your call, Commander. It's your team."

Lieutenant Ghan snorted as he worked on a nearby console, tapping out an updated duty assignment for the boy.
"If you think that I am going to give you access to anything after the way you changed around my Holodeck then you may want to have Doctor Ortega take a look at your head -- your genetic resequencing may have had a detrimental effect on you. No, until the Captain or Commander Qech give me the go ahead that you're trustworthy, you touch nothing." _________________
