Location: Holo-Pirate Ship

"Cap'n Blackspots!" called the voice of Captain Brennon from far overhead. The Captain of the Hartington hung from the rigging dressed in a ragged tunic and torn knee pants. The holodeck had grown out the hair on the top of his head as well as his beard to shoulder length as well as braiding the matted locks that currently blew in the breeze.

"Reportin' as ordered, Cap'n. A fine crew ye have if I may say ma'am."

Qech couldn't help but burst out laughing at the sight of Captain Brennon dressed, rather convincingly, like an 18th century brigand. She smiled broadly, showing the prominent dimples on her cheeks.

"Well look at what the cat dragged in!" She called out against the wind. "Didn't think you'd show. I hope you brought your pirate name and a lust for holographic gold."

Aria smirked as Uvek dismissed his bird while hanging from the rigging. After her counseling sessions with the Romulan, it was good to see him having a good time. Perhaps things weren't as desperate with him as he feared.

Blackheart Annie, weigh anchor!

"Yes, sir!" Shooting Qech a ragged salute she hopped to her post. A few holographic crewmembers were already there, working to pull at the anchor chain. Good. Anchors were heavy. Aria joined them, shouting out piratey encouragements to help them along.

Under her breath she muttered, "Computer. Restore Uvek's parrot."

Uvek hit the deck the same moment his bird hit him....with dung....again.

"Ta Krenn! Am I a receptacle?" He lamented, moving to pull the up the anchor with the crew. His parrot stubbornly refused to show him affection.

Looking around he said "Whoever is responsible for that feathered nightmare's return should be quartered and keelhugged!" Unaware that he had mis-used the ancient earthterm, he threw himself into his work and grinned broadly at Lt. Aria and shouted "HEAVE HO!"

Croft, bowed slightly, "Aye Cap'n" He moved over to the 'wheel' giving it a spin. He watched as the rest of the crew jumped into action, real and holographic. He laughed at the real Captain as he swung from the rigging. Pirate name... I have no clue He laughed again. He looks over to Qech, "I'm afraid I'm a little short on good pirate names... Wait!" He looks up, "Computer, add and eye patch!" He suddenly lost vision in one eye, "One eyed Jack it is!" He laughed.

With the anchor up, Uvek/Greenblood found he had more to do. Unfurling sails, tying things off, lift that barge, tote that bail, as it were. Moreover, he found he liked it. The fresh (computer-generated fresh at any rate) air, the wind, the sounds, the smells. It was all very invigorating! Leave it to Commander Qech to know what the crew needed.

He worked hard, relishing even the often interrupting brushes of his malfunctioning parrot, who for some reason had taken a liking to Aria Lioy, and was seen throughout the day resting on her shoulders, while turning a cold beak to its own master. Oh well, such was the life of a sea-faring Romulan!

Brennon worked his way down the rigging back to the deck and stood at attention -- or at least as close to attention he could with one peg leg.

"Cap'n Ma'am, Peg-Legged Davy, reportin'. Whatever ya need, ye shall receive!"

When Brennon approached, the parrot opened its beak. "Squawk! Your mother was a-"

Qech forcefully closed it. "None of that, now. I happen to like his mother."

"Cap'n Ma'am, Peg-Legged Davy, reportin'. Whatever ya need, ye shall receive!"

Qech laughed. "What I'm in need of, it seems, is a first Mate. How about some role reversal?"

She shook his hand as if meeting him for the first time. "Welcome aboard Davy. I'm glad to see you've gone with some heavy stereotyping, because we're clearly not going for authentic here. As I recall, Blackbeard was never pregnant. But, if anyone asks, I swallowed a cannonball."

The sight of the Captain in that getup made it very difficult for Qech to keep a straight face, but then again, he was probably thinking the same thing about her. "I think some of our holographic crew is slackin' off. Why don't you give 'em a swift kick with your good leg. And here..."

She handed him the rolled up treasure map. "I'm charging you with its safe-keeping. There are a few rival scalawags out there who'd love to get their hooks on this. Keep it secret. Keep it safe."

With a dramatic gesture, she extended her arm, pointing forward at the open sea. "Take her out, Jack! Steady as she goes!"

"Great," Aria quipped. "Let the guy with no depth perception drive." She struck a melodramatic scared pose. "We're all going to die!"

Then she jumped because Uvek's parrot, perched on her shoulder, started nibbling on her ear.

Ol' Peg-Leg nodded and took the map with a sense of awe and reverence. After a moment he snapped out of it and gave the Cap'n a wild grin.

"Aye, Ma'am! You have my word, it'll be as safe as can be with Ol' Peg-Leg."

With that he turned and began to bark orders to the crew.

"All hands make sail! T'gansuls and courses. Stand by the braces! Mister Jack! Set the royals and stunsails."

One eyed Jack smirked at Loiy, then gave the wheel another spin, "Aye Sir!"

The ship sailed smoothly out of the virtual harbor with all hands working to begin the voyage without a hitch. Qech smiled as she leaned out over the Starboard side, looking ahead at the open ocean. Even the parrot was quiet for a time.

Once the vessel was coating gently along the deep sea, the Captain turned to her Peg-legged First Mate. "I've made a list of the most trustworthy mates aboard this ship." She handed him a water-stained piece of parchment. "Assemble 'em in the Cabin. And watch yer back. There may be spies aboard."

When Davy opens the paper he finds the following names:

Peg-leg Davy
One-Eyed Jack
Blackheart Annie
Greenblood

Greenblood entered the cabin. He was sweating freely and for the first time in months, his artificial hand ached where it met his arm. It was a good feeling. He sat down on a large sack of something, and chewed listlessly on a small piece of straw.

The First Mate went looked over each of the names on the Cap'n's list, eyes narrowing.

Not sure I trust any of these scalawags... myself included he thought to himself... but orders were orders.

As he made his rounds around the deck, the one-legged man stepped up to the crew's resident one-eyed man and motioned for him to follow.

"Le's go, one-eye."

One Eye stood at attention, "Aye Sir!" As soon as he turned his back he stuck out his tongue, but followed as ordered.
