OOC just for clarification sake, Solana has entered the bridge after Marek returns from the Merrimac
OOC part deux 1000 posts! Just had to do that
USS Guardian
After Merrimac visit
Ready Room
Marek had been standing at the viewport, pondering what he had just learned, when the door chime broke his reverie.
"Enter."
Marek turned from the viewport as Solana entered, for the Vulcan science officers sake he kept it professional and coldly Vulcan.
"Lieutenant Solana."
Nods, letting her take the next step.
USS Guardian
Bridge
Pre-Merrimac
Marek looks over to tactical, noting the Lt.'s confusion and sharing it.
"Acknowledge the message, tell them I am on my way."
Marek turns as the turbolift doors open and his new XO enters the bridge.
"Commander Kuplo, Lieutenants Elen, and sh'Tal."
He said with a sweep of his arm, then headed towards the same turbolift just vacated by the Grazerite.
"I would be grateful if you would give Lt. Elen a tour of the ship, I have been ordered to the Merrimac."
Marek enters the turbolift, and turns to a confused Kuplo.
"You have the Bridge."
As the doors slide closed, Marek sends the lift to Transporter room two, clasping his hands behind his back.
*Perhaps there is going to be more fallout for losing control of the Guardian then I previously estimated.*

USS Guardian - Bridge
Lt Cmdr Mehvra-Kuplo
"Lieutenants, it is a pleasure having you on board." Mehv is momentarily taken aback at the beauty of the Andorian, but recovers gracefully. "I would enjoy showing you around Lt. Elen. Lt sh'Tal, you are welcome to come along, if you would like."
Mehv turns, "Lt Kortan, you have the bridge," and proceeds to the turbolift. With Lt. Elen following immediately behind, he asks, "Anywhere you want to see first?", and waits a second to see if Lt sh'Tal is coming. _________________

"Lt sh'Tal, you are welcome to come along, if you would like."
sh'Talh thought for a moment, finally deciding that it actually wouldn't be a bad idea. She'd studied the floor plans, its history, its crew... but maybe this bird had a few surprises in her.
She motioned to an Ensign to take her place at Tactical and turned to face the XO. "Actually Sir, I think I will come." _________________

" Lieutenants, it is a pleasure having you on board."
"Thank you, sir," Elen said. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." She fell in step behind him as he backtracked to the turbolift. "I'd like to see the engine room first," she said in anser to his question. "See how everything's laid out. I heard you were Chief Engineer a few minutes ago. Why'd you give up one of the best positions on the ship to become First Officer?" A flash-grin took any sting out of the words. She continued to ply the XO with technical questions about the power of the engines aboard the Guardian, and the quirks that any starship soon acquires. _________________

Marek stood outside the doors to the Merrimac's Secondary Staff room. Every starship had one, it was theoretically there in emergency situations when the bridge was not available, but was generally used for reprimands and inquiries when a starship couldn't make it to a starbase. Marek took a deep breath and punched the chime. He was quickly ushered in by the Admiral's Adjunct, who dismissed himself and left Marek alone with Admiral Alynna Nechayev. She was a slender human female, who sat ramrod straight and had a reputation for being as passionately cold as one could be. Marek, with his time among humans, had struggled with the euphemism, but one look made it a little clearer. She motioned for him to take a seat, at the table, not in the chair on the dias, which was a good sign.
"Captain Marek, I must confess that I intended this interview to be an interrogation before I read your latest field report. I have never read such a systematic condemnation of a superior officer by a junior officer, especially written by a Vulcan. I can only presume that from your point of view, logic dictated such a response was necessary."
There wasn't really a question, but Marek felt it was appropriate to respond.
"It is a Captain's responsibility to protect his crew, from any threats. It has become increasingly obvious that Admiral Croft has become a threat. His orders defy all logic, violate the established chain of command, and have put my entire crew at risk."
The Admiral just nods, before glancing at her Padd.
"Were you aware that Admiral Croft has ordered a Starship constructed at DS27?"
Marek raised his brow, clearly taken aback.
"It seems obvious from your statement that Starfleet Command was not."
He left it as a statement, knowing that he was taking liberties with the Admiral that might not be his to take.
"Yes, just another in a string of orders we have discovered. We have replaced the senior staff at the station until we can ascertain the full extent of the problem."
Nechayev stands, walking slowly towards the far wall, as if the next question was so difficult she needed a moment. She turns toward Marek, the steel in her eyes catching him by surprise.
"Captain Marek, do you know where Admiral Croft is at this time?"
"No Admiral, I do not."
Nechayev seem almost disappointed, she walks back to the table, placing her PADD on the synthetic marbles surface.
"The next time you are in contact with Croft, you are to contact Starfleet Command immediately. If you see the Conquest, you are to sieze it. Have I made myself clear, Captain?"
"Completely, Admiral."
"This information is extremely sensitive, no one besides Brennen, and perhaps your first officer if you trust him completely, should be made aware of this situation."
Nechayev punched a button on the table in front of her, calling her adjunct.
"Dismissed."
Marek followed the Adjunct back to the transporter, the many unanswered questions swimming in his head. _________________

Character: Lieutenant Solana
Location: Captain's Ready Room, USS Guardian
"Captain. I am reporting as ordered as Chief Science Officer." she extended a PADD to her new commanding officer. "My orders, Sir."
As the other Vulcan quickly skimmed over her papers, Solana shifted seemingly uncomfortable... an un-Vulcan gesture.
"Captain. I have been aboard the three main venues for Starfleet exploration of the Gamma Quadrant over the past year. I have seen many things both explained and unexplained. Should you feel the necessity to confide in someone, know that I would welcome such confidence." _________________

At first, he got the feeling that Lt Elen was choosing the Engine room to endear herself to him, but the feeling passed as she clearly had enough knowledge to truly be interested.
He showed them the warp core and the basic layout of the room. "As you may be able to see the ship has had some heavy modifications since its first design."
"Lt sh'Tal, is there an area of the ship you'd specifically like to see?" _________________

Marek entered the bridge, motioning to the watch officer to stay seated.
"Set course for the Dark Matter region we are assigned to explore, warp six. I will be in my readyroom."
Marek entered his readyroom, got himself a cup of tea, and had just stood at the viewport when the door chime broke his train of thought.
"Enter."
Marek turned from the viewport as Solana entered, for the Vulcan science officers sake he kept it professional and coldly Vulcan.
"Lieutenant Solana."
Nods, letting her take the next step.
OOC I know repeating a little, just getting caught up on both time streams.

Marek glances up at Solana, pondering just how far he wanted to go.
"Lieutenant, while I can not go into detail on the subject, any orders or contact from Admiral Croft, or his ship, the Conquest, must be reported immediately."
Marek turned back to the PADD.
"I would also like you to analyze all available information on the Conquest. Concentrate on exploitable weaknesses in the case of a confrontation. Correlate with Lt sh'Tal if necessary." _________________

"Lt sh'Tal, is there an area of the ship you'd specifically like to see?"
sh'Talh thought for a moment before responding. "Actually Sir, I'd be interested in seeing the runabouts. I have not had time to look at the schematics, and I hear they are fairly well outfitted for their class. As for the ship itself... I feel I've familiarized myself with her already. But I will tag along for the rest of the tour in case there is something I missed." _________________

The trio continues the tour stopping by security shortly on their way to the main hanger bay. As they move, Mehv points out specific parts of the Guardian: those that make her unique. They eventually enter the hanger bay.
"You are correct, Lieutenant, in stating that the runabouts are well outfitted. They have proven time and again their usefulness in a wide range of situations and missions. They have almost miniaturized an entire starship worth of systems into a small package. Sensors, weapons, speed; they seem to have it all."
With a smirk, Mehv adds, "Well except for a lot of room for sleeping." _________________

"Just what a miniature starship needs," Tes commented. "Sleep-deprived pilots. Must make for a lot of interesting away missions." She ran a hand along one of the runabouts, before entering through its hatch. She showed the same interest in it that she had in the engine room, trying to examine every system.
"So what are the problems?" she asked as she came out again. "Every machine has its own quirks. There's always one system that periodically breaks. What is it for the runabouts?" _________________

In this case its the sensor subsystem's power regulator. Since the ship is relatively small they pump the plasma is pumped evenly throughout. The sensors need very clean power and I think the regulator that is spec'd just isn't up to the task of dealing with that much plasma."
"Shall we move on? We'll check out the mess and science on our way back to the bridge." _________________

OOC looks like Tom was busy to works out good.
ACTION
Within moments of Marek finishing his strange request, a deep boom is heard reverberating throughout the hull, and with a shudder the ship drops out of warp. The Yellow alert klaxon sounds. As the tour group looks up from the runabout, all of their combadges chirp.
"Senior Staff to the Bridge."
"Captain Marek to the bridge."
Marek stands, motioning for Solana to follow. He quickly leaves his ready room and enters the bridge.
"Report."
"There's some kind of energy field in this region of space, it collapsed our warp field. No injuries, all systems normal, except we are unable to generate a stable warp field." _________________

"Looks like our tour will be cut short. To your duty stations, Lieutenants."
Mehv heads quickly for the turbolift and is soon on the bridge. He walks over to the ops station to get a quick update on the situation and then to science to check out the readings. _________________

Lieutenant Elen hurried to the Ops station, quickly reading the data to be found.
"The energy field is extremely erratic," she reported to the captain. "It seems to be coming in waves. We caught a particularly big one; that's what rocked us, and killed our warp. Hopefully we can back out of this before another big one comes around." She trailed off, giving Captain Marek an inquiring look. _________________
