sh'talh shook her head. "Negative, Sir. I've raised shields but it doesn't seem to be having a noticeable effect."

ACTION

Although the ship has reached a stand still, another impact rocks the ship. The lights flicker as a sudden power drain hits the ships systems. Shields begin to drop as something makes contact and begins attacking them with immense bursts of raw energy, the Guardian's energy as it turns out.

"Engineering to bridge, Power levels are dropping throughout the ship. Rerouting warp power to compensate."

Before the Vulcan could reply Lieutenant Elen spoke up again. The console in front of her was flashing bright warnings.

"Sir, there's a giant energy mass approaching us. It seems like more than just another pulse. This could be the one that breaks the camel's back." She paused, examining the readings before her. "Sir...it looks like it's focused on our position!"

sh'Talh looked up briefly from her console as the readings came in, the situation quickly becoming dire.

"Shields still proving ineffective, Captain."

OOC sorry folks, yesterday was... well anyway

Marek stands walking towards the ops console.

"Focus the viewscreen on the center of the energy mass."

Within moments the viewscreen came to life, showing a large orb-like object approaching the ship. It was a swirl of blues and purples, with the occasional electrical discharge dancing on the surface. It suddenly accelerated, causing the ship to rock slightly.

ACTION

On deck ten, the orb found a power junction and began to feed. As it sucked energy directly from the conduit, the lights began to flicker and dim.

Taking a look at the readings from science, Mehv wonders if it might be some sore of lifeform. He turns to the Captain.
"Sir, I'm shooting in the dark here, but whatever is causing the energy drain appears to be attracted to us. If we reduce power shipwide to minimum sustainable levels for survival, I wonder if it might leave us alone."

Marek glanced at Kuplo, his face inscrutable.

"I am inclined to agree, however, it would be prudent to attempt to communicate first."

He looks over at Sh'Talh.

"Send a security team to Deck 10. See if you can make contact. If you can not open a line of communication, I will settle for containment. Lt. Elen, Lt. Solana, accompany the team, between the two of you I suspect you will be able to make contact."

sh'Talh nodded and exchanged looks with the other two officers on the team before making her way to the turbo lift. Once inside she tapped her combadge.

"sh'Talh to Van Quax. Meet us on deck ten. We have a situation."

Lieutenant Elen patted her console proprietarily before jogging to join sh'Talh in the turbolift.

"That Minuvian stinkworm," she muttered angrily. "Sucking power from my darling. I just got on this ship! I sure hope it doesn't want to communicate, so we can treat it like its treating us."

Turbolift En Route to Deck 10, USS Guardian

"Lt. Elen, Lt. Solana, accompany the team, between the two of you I suspect you will be able to make contact."

"Yes, Captain."

Solana stood up from her station and joined the others inside the lift, standing in stoic silence as they make their way down into the bowels of the ship.

"That Minuvian stinkworm," Elen muttered angrily. "Sucking power from my darling. I just got on this ship! I sure hope it doesn't want to communicate, so we can treat it like its treating us."

"You assume that 'it' is a sentient life form. It is possible that it is a form of lower order cosmozoan, one that does not recognize that we are anything other than a food source. However, even if this is a purposeful attack your comments are not becoming of a Starfleet Officer."

ACTION

The turbolift doors slid open and the three officers step out. Down the corridor is the security team, back lit by a colorful wash of light. The over head illumination continues to flicker, causing a dance of shadows along the walls. The energy being is out of sight along the curve of the corridor, peaking the interest of even the unemotional Vulcan science officer.

sh'talh stood on her guard, and ordered the rest of the security team who was waiting there to protect the others. She looked to Solona.

"Well, Lieutenant, good luck. Just don't get too close." She looked around to the security team. "I don't want anyone touching anyone else in case this works at all like electricity. Stand apart. That means you too, Lieutenant Elen."
