Character: Lieutenant Solana
Location: Corridors of the USS Guardian, en route to the Bridge
Lieutenant Solana stepped out of her new quarters and made her way through the corridors of the Guardian. Despite the numerous refits to bring the Excelsior-class design in line with modern starship design, Solana always felt that these older vessels still held onto the strands of the past... nostalgic sensations that a Vulcan like Solana should strive to bury. With a slight quirk of her brow, she touched a control panel next to the turbolift doors, silently musing on her inward display of emotion. Perhaps my age is catching up with me she thought as the lift arrived and the doors swooshed open. _________________

Character: Lt. Larhei sh'Talh
Location: USS Guardian Transporter Room
No matter what class ship it is, the transporter rooms always look the same, sh'Talh found herself thinking as she stepped off the pad. She hoisted her bag, filled with her very few belongings, over her shoulder and nodded to the Transporter chief before setting out along the corridors. It didn't take her long to find her quarters. She'd studied the ship blueprints thoroughly ever since she learned of her transfer. New ship, old ship, small ship, big ship... It didn't matter any to her, as long as they were in space.
After tossing her bag onto the bed, the new Chief Tactical Officer made her way to the bridge to formally introduce herself to the Captain. He was a Vulcan, and a much less 'stiff' Vulcan than most, from what she'd heard. She looked forward to finding out for herself whether or not that was true. _________________

Marek sat at his desk in his readyroom, going over his transfer orders. Between injuries, promotions, and accidents, it seemed his crew was destined to change. He hoped with this new command staff he would find some stability, allowing him to build a repertoire as it were with his staff. It appeared he was getting a solid group, from the personnel files, and he found himself excited at the prospect. *Mother would be proud and father would be critical* He almost smiled at the thought. _________________

Lieutenant Elen Tes made her way to the Bridge after dropping off her things in her quarters. She craned her head around as she walked, taking in the lines of the ship. Her ship. Oh, the captain might command it, and the engineers might share some responsibility, but as Chief of Operations, it was her duty to mind it...to ease away all its little aches and pains and malfunctions. Already she was feeling proprietary.
She played with the earring in her right ear as she got into the turbolift and it pulsed its way upwards, laying her other had lovingly on the side wall. She and the Guardian were going to get along.
She'd just have to hope the same was true of the rest of the crew. She'd had a mixed bag in past assignments; some good friends, and some people she'd like to shove into the nearest overheated nacelle. She'd heard the captain was a Vulcan, which worried her. They were efficient all right, but always seemed a little cold to her. What do you do with someone you couldn't joke around with? Ah well. It would probably be fine. As for the others, she didn't know a thing about any of them. I guess time would tell if they were good sorts or not.
Time to go make friends, she thought wryly. A grin of anticipation grew on her face as the turbolift doors slid open and she walked onto the Bridge. _________________

Character: Lt. Sh'Talh
Location: USS Guardian, Bridge
Sh'talh had just barely missed the turbo lift to the bridge, but didn't have to wait long before the doors swooshed open again. She listened to the hum of the lift as it made its way up the tube before the doors finally opened and she stepped out onto the Guardian's well-fitted bridge. It looked sufficient enough. She'd certainly worked with less. Too many luxuries make people soft anyway.
With a brief nod to a nearby officer, some Bajoran that she'd never seen before, the Andorian made her way to the Captain's ready room and rang the chime. When he answered, she stepped in, standing at attention.
"Lieutenant Larhei sh'Talh reporting, Sir."

Tes stood on the Bridge for a good few moments, soaking it in. The Guardian was beautiful; real classic lines, streamlined on the inside as well as without. She looked over to her station, wondering if she had time to go look at it, or whether she should go report to the captain first. With a sigh she decided that protocol came first. She was just turning towards his ready room when the turbo lift doors slid open again. An Andorian woman stepped out, with the most hair Tes had seen on anyone who wasn't a Klingon. She nodded briefly in the Bajoran's direction before turning on her heel and walking briskly into the captain's ready room.
Something in her manner irritated Tes a little. It was the quick efficiency perhaps, or maybe the too-fast look she'd given the bridge and Tes herself. At any rate, Tes wasn't going to let her go in and talk to the captain first just when Tes herself had decided to go talk the captain. She knew she was being petty and competitive even as she hurried her steps to catch up with the blue woman, but she couldn't make herself care.
So it was that she stepped up beside the other Lieutenant just as she stood at attention and introduced herself. Tes mimicked her pose.
"Lieutenant Larhei sh'Talh reporting, Sir."
"Lieutenant Elen Tes reporting, Sir," she said, trying to out-formal the other.
((OOC: Well, I don't have a photo, but if anyone cares what my char. looks like, she's a short, brunette Bajoran with a face that could be described as "cute" if it weren't for the cynical expressions that habitually cross it.))
BTW, awsome p. manip, Qech! She's looks really good. She looks as "real" as the Star Trek actors who wear the alien make-up. I'd swear the woman b]was[/b] an Andorian.[ _________________

OOC that is the most attractive Andorian I have ever seen! Good work!
Marek looked up when the chime rang, calling for them to enter. When two of his new officers stepped in to report, he stifled a smile. The young Bajoran woman seemed to be trying to out stand the Andorian Shen. Which was amusing, considering the significant height difference between the two. Marek stood, clasping his hands behind his back.
"Lieutenant sh'Tal, Lieutenant Tes, welcome to the Guardian. I'm sorry that we were unable to arrange for a greeting at the transporter room, but the particular crew rotations we are taking have made for some intriguing adjustments."
He motions for the two officers to follow him to the bridge, and steps out of the ready room, strolling across the back end of the bridge as he spoke.
"The exploration of the Gamma Quadrant has already been incredibly fruitful, and dangerous. I suspect it will continue to be so. If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask. Our new XO, Lt. Commander Kuplo, is finding it hard to surrender Engineering to the new acting Chief Engineer, but I am sure he will join us shortly."
Marek pauses, allowing the two women, *shen and a female* he corrects himself, a chance to speak. _________________

USS Guardian - Main Engineering
Lt Cmdr Mehvra-Kuplo
Wanting to finish up all the extraneous tasks before he handed over the reins, Mehv worked furiously. Eventually he came to the conclusion that it would never get done. Maybe this is a good thing, he thought, Gives Elise something to start with immediately.
Stepping out of his office, he calls Lt Elise Poussant over. "Attention! Since my duties have changed, I will be leaving you in the good hands of Lt Poussant. She will be acting Chief of Engineering until further notice." A round of applause breaks out, causing Elise to blush; she was able to keep her composure and portrayed professionalism. Mehv joins in shortly, then raises his hand for silence.
"I want to say that it has been a pleasure working so closely with all of you. A Chief of Engineering couldn't ask for a better team. I know I can count on you whether I'm down here in the 'grime' with you, or up on the bridge, so keep up the good work!."
Mehv pulls Elise into her new office. He points out the duty schedule, the list of repairs and upgrade yet to be done and gives her a warm handshake. "I have every confidence in you, Elise. You have proven to me time and again that you are able to lead, so take advantage of the opportunity and show everyone else what I already know." He moves her over and sits her in the chair.
Walking out of Engineering, he quickly makes his way to the turbolift, resisting the urge to take another look. You are being silly, Mehv, you will be back to see it soon enough. Your duties will take you all over the ship, he scolds himself. Mehv's mind is distracted soon enough as the doors open onto the bridge and he steps into his new world. _________________

"Lieutenant sh'Tal, Lieutenant Tes, welcome to the Guardian. I'm sorry that we were unable to arrange for a greeting at the transporter room, but the particular crew rotations we are taking have made for some intriguing adjustments."
sh'Talh simply listened, nodding in understanding only once before following her new Captain out onto the bridge. He did seem less preoccupied with himself then most vulcans. He had that much going for him. The Bajoran woman was standing far too close for comfort however, something the Andorian was trying to ignore... But it was getting irksome. Being slighted so obviously was not the best way to start a relationship with anyone, never mind an Andorian.
"The exploration of the Gamma Quadrant has already been incredibly fruitful, and dangerous. I suspect it will continue to be so. If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask. Our new XO, Lt. "Actually Sir, I'm anxious to tend to my duties, if you don't mind. I have been off duty for far too long, thanks to all the paperwork involved in these transfers, and frankly I hate it." She looked almost longingly to the Tactical station, still making every effort to ignore the Bajoran.
Other crew members had complained in the past that sh'Talh was a bit too blunt at times, but she really didn't care. Getting back on duty was all she wanted at the moment. The Captain would have to get used to her, just like the last one did. _________________

Marek arches an eyebrow, a quizzical look on his face.
"By all means, Lt., proceed."
Marek watches as she quickly relieves the junior officer that had been manning the station. Marek glances at the Bajoran woman.
"Do you care to familiarize yourself with the ship Lt. Elen, or are you eager to get to work as well?" _________________

((OOC: It's Lieutenant Elen, actually. Bajorans have their names back to front, just like the Chinese. Tes is her first name.))
Quote: | "Actually Sir, I'm anxious to tend to my duties, if you don't mind. I have been off duty for far too long, thanks to all the paperwork involved in these transfers, and frankly I hate it." |
"I wouldn't mind taking a look at my Ops station myself," Lieutenant Elen said. She relaxed her rigid stance, feeling that she'd made her point. Tes looked longingly at the her workspace before snapping her attention back to Captain Marek. "Not that I wouldn't be thrilled to meet the First Officer once he gets here. Or is it she?"
She considered the two people in front of her as she spoke. The captain was a blank slate to her still, though he didn't seem quite as stiff as many Vulcans. So that was a good sign. The Andorian was pointedly ignoring Elen's existence, a fact which either irritated her or amused her...she couldn't decide which.
She was about to say something else (perhaps something not entirely politic) when the turbo lift doors swooshed open and someone entered the Bridge. Tes looked to see who it was. _________________

((OOC: Whoops. You posted while I was posting. I suppose, assume everything I just said happened before Marek spoke. ))
"Oh!" Tes said as the captain spoke. "See the ship, naturally. That would be wonderful. I didn't have time to do more than take a cursory look on my way here, but I have to say I like what I see. I want to see every inch of her. Absolutely every inch." Excitement flooded through her, mixed with something very like delight. Her momentary fit of pique was completely forgotten and she grinned hugely. _________________

Character: Lieutenant Solana
Location: Captain's Ready Room, USS Guardian
Stepping off of the lift, the Guardian's new Chief Science Officer looked around at the bridge. Stoically she walked around the ship's command center, looking over the layout and the various consoles at her fingertips. Stopping for a moment at the Science Station, Solana glanced at the readouts -- disturbing somewhat the Human Ensign currently manning the post.
"Can I help you ma'am?"
After a moment, Solana shook her head and looked the man straight in the eyes.
"No, Ensign, I was simply inspecting the station that I will be occupying in short order. Carry on."
Without waiting for the man to acknowledge her again the Lieutenant turned on her heel and stepped to the Captain's Ready room, pressing the chimes and waited to be called in. _________________

Character: Lt. sh'Talh
Location: USS Guardian Bridge
Just moments after taking her position at the Tactical console, sh'Talh noticed an incoming transmission.
"Captain" she said, not looking up from the console. "I'm getting a message from the Merrimac. They request you transport over immediately to speak with..." she paused for a moment, surprised by the name. "Admiral Nachayev, Sir." This came as news to the Andorian Officer, who hadn't even been made aware, until now, that the admiral was even on the Merrimac. Starfleet was playing their politics again.
With a shake of her head she looked up to the Captain.
"The return message, Sir?" _________________
