"The Hartington has taken on a new passenger, a Vorta Ambassador from the Dominion named Rolen. I am preparing to meet with him in person and I have to express a certain amount of... anxiety.

"The Dominion haven't been heard from or seen in a year, I remember being a part of the escort fleet after the end of the war, seeing all of those Jem'Hadar ships travel through the wormhole. It was something else. Two years of war led to that moment. Some of us aboard the Hartington are going to take having a Dominion representative aboard very difficultly. In truth, I feel I would be among them... but a Captain has to rise above such petty concerns. I can't afford to let my personal feelings interfere with the success of our mission."

The recording continues in silence for several seconds before the Captain continues speaking.

"Once we've secured the Ambassador, I've order the crew to take the ship in the direction of the Cardassian distress call, again over the objections of some of my crew. They're Cardassians, not devils. They don't stop having the right to our aid just because we were once enemies.

"Cardassia is in the process of becoming a friend to the Federation and I won't ruin that by leaving their people out here to die alone... or to have their memory forgotten. We'll go to that planet and even if all we find is the crashed wreckage of their ship and the skeletons the crew, at least their family will know the truth of what happened.

Captain Brennon clears his throat before continuing.

"The Hartington is scheduled to arrive at the source of the distress call in 3 hours. Computer, end log entry."

"The Hartington has reached the Class-L Planet that we have identified as the source of the Cardassian distress call. Sensors indicate the planet, while technically Class-L, has much more bio-diversity than we first believed. Science Officer Kantu is to brief the Senior Staff on the results of his sensor sweep.

"Following the briefing, an Away Team will assemble and make a preliminary landing to discover the fate of the Cardassians who sent out their distress call."
