The doctor stood outside the captains ready room, nervously feeling the rank pips that felt cold against his neck. He still couldnt believe that he had been accepted aboard this ship, and he was the envy of the rest of the graduates back at the med school. His mother had been crowing about it to anyone, telling them that assistant chief medical officer was an amazing achievement. Oliver felt sick, so much responsibilty, so little experience in the medical world. But he was here, and had to make the most of it.
The captains voice was an unwelcome distraction from his thoughts, but as he entered the room, he was in awe.
Captian David Brennon was almost fabled in the academy, especially since he knew the instructors well, but in fact he wasn't as scary as he had visualised.
"Dr. Oliver Newell, reporting for duty sir!" |

"Welcome aboard, Doctor. I'm sure you'll make an excellent addition, not only to our medical staff but to our crew as well. I look forward to having you with us." _________________
