Personal Log Stardate 54055.7

"Computer, start recording"

A momentary pause is heard

"I recieved word from home today. The last few days have left me with a troubled feeling that I could not place... a feeling that something was wrong, but I was unable to figure out what it was. I feel that my worry impeded my enjoyment of shore leave... and I must remember to notify Mr. Croft of my reasoning for why I was rather disagreeable."

Another pause is heard as she takes a deep breath.

"I recieved word today from my baby sister that she is on leave from the Academy to attend my mother's funeral. It seems that she fell victim to an accident. While on her way to visit my sister at the Academy, her flight lost an engine and crashed."

A deep breath is heard.

"I have not informed any of the crew regarding this personal loss... I have not been able to send a reply to my sister, or my father, but I have to believe that they know that I am with them in spirit. I realize that I will have to inform the Captain of this, but I am not looking forward to it. I feel the sorrow for her loss, but am capable to continue my assigned duty... besides, it's not as though there's much I could do anyways now is there?"

A soft chuckle is heard.

"So what happens when the counselor is in a situation where a person is normally advised to seek counseling? I really couldn't say. At least I have the training required to help see myself through this..."

A laugh is heard, tinged with unshed tears.

"Goodbye mom... much love. End recording"
