Crew Quarters, Deep Space 27

I recieved an urgent message from Captain Brennon this morning. It would appear, that my former Department Head, Lt. Uvek, has taken back to the Alpha Quadrant for some extended leave - assumably to take care of some long-overdue family matters.

In the interim, Captain Brennon has asked me to return to the Hartington to take charge of his Security and Tactical Department. Actually, he's had orders cut as of this morning - which makes me wonder why Uvek would have left him at such a pivotal time for the Task Force.

My wife, Charolette, is somewhat less than happy. She just finished unpacking our stuff from Starbase 135, only to turn around and pack it up. We've got quarters aboard Hartington, and there's just a little less room than she would like. I'm less worried about any Tal'Harton contact and more worried about ticking off my wife.

In my absence on DS-27, I have advised Commander Talbert of my appointing Petty Officer 1st Class Maraia T'Anager as Acting Chief of Station Security in my absence. Maraia's got a good pair of antenae on her head... if anyone can keep the station secure while I am gone, it would be her.

Chief Smith sat in his office, going over reports with his Assistant, Petty Officer 1st Class Maraia T'Anager.

"Ted," said T'Anager, to her supervisor and friend, "how long do you suppose you will be gone?"

"I'm hoping not too long. I just broke this chair in, and was starting to settle in to this position." Smith laughed as he said it.

The paging whistle sounded, followed by the sound of Smith's loving wife on the other end.

"Ted, I'm done packing... when do we leave again?"

"Two hours. Departing from Airlock 12. The Soyuz is departing, and will be rendesvousing with the Hartington in a few days."

"I'm going to be hitting the Replimat in a few minutes. Do you kids want to join me?" asked Tanager.

Charolette replied first. "Of course Maraia. We would love to." Charolette and Maraia had been friends since before Ted had been in the picture. The running joke was that if it weren't for Maraia, Ted and Charolette would have never met while Ted was at Cape May.
