Qech looked over to Kantu and smiled. "The more minds the better".

Croft pondered the Captains orders for a moment, not exactly what I would of done, but probably the best option he folded his arms as he waited for the action to start.

"Captain, I think I can provide a solution to removing the technology from the Cardassians."

He paused to check his numbers on his PADD.

"With both runabouts in the atmosphere, we can lock onto the power signatures of all Cardassian technology on the surface. It wouldn't be possible to beam all of the pieces of technology out simultaneously, but I think it would be possible to lock onto all of their power cells. We could them simply dematerialize them and abort the transport cycle. The power surge would fry any piece of technology in their possession, rendering it useless."

He punched some numbers again.

"In fact sir, I suggest we perform the transport first. It ought to make the Cardassians a bit more open to negotiating if we take them back to the Stone Age."

"I'll see to it a formal security detail is prepared. If we make this... opportunity available to the Cardassians, I suspect we will need more impressive negotiating tools." he continued "And, since it is likely that they will face retaliation from those they have oppressed, I will have security standing by on the ship in the event common sense takes hold, and they accept our transportation."

He looked at Petty Officer Koester. "Mr. Koester, as you are Master at Arms, I want you to remain on board the ship and organize the security measures here. Mr. Smith can lead the away team security detail. Professor Kolar is to have limited access to our library, according to Mr. Calodan's specifications. The others, should they join us, are to have none. Because they have demonstrated a lack of integrity, they will be strictly confined. Please hand select a security team, and prepare for their arrival."

He looked at the captain. If you will excuse me, I will return to the bridge and coordinate the oversight of our runabouts."

She watched as the room calmed and the bickering came to a standstill with the Captain's words. The energy seemed to change from that of desperation, anger and frustration to excitement, hesitation and doubt. She stayed silent knowing full well she really had nothing useful to add to the conversation unless asked a direct question pertaining to her fields of study.

With a smile she felt the ease of a plan come into focus and several people find a shared way of thinking.

glad to have joined a solid crew she thought to herself. Makes a nice change from the Essex....

"Yes sir." Koester replied, brusquely. He thought to himself: Just let the oppressed kill the oppressors. The pricks deserve it. After what was taken from me all Cardies deserve to die.

He said: "I recommend the Cardassians be placed in the brig until their intentions can be adequately determined. They've already demonstrated hostile intent so I say treat them as criminals because they are little better than scum that exploit other races. As far as security details I request to pull men off of the various shifts that are veterans of fighting the Cardassians."

He felt that inner surge of rage whenever he heard or saw a Cardassian. He fought it down with that same ice cold precision he would use whenever he would level his TR-116 towards a Cardassian when preparing to snipe him from thousands of meters distant.

"Dr. Kiv I will assign three security personnel to protect you. Who knows how hostile the good Professor's other counterparts might be towards a Bajoran doctor treating them." Koester replied. "Or failing that I'll keep an eye on you myself."

turning her attention to Koester as he spoke with a calm level voice, she couldn't help but notice the sheer rage flowing through him. There was something simmering just under the surface with him and as much as she wanted to probe his mind and find out just what that anger stemmed from, she couldn't. All things aside she made a mental note to try to schedule a time to meet with the man. He seemed in dire need of someone to speak to.

what have I gotten myself into? she asked herself. still, better this than what was.

With another deep breath she turned her attention away from the man and took a moment to close her eyes and center herself, trying to find her own focus and keep her own mind calm.

Qech looked to Koester, her lips set in a tight frown. "Mr. Koester, the security protocols may be needed but the racial slurs are not". She then gave a quick and meaningful look to the Counselor, and shook her head.

I don't envy the work she has ahead of her with this one.

Koester simmered but replied evenly: "Yes ma'am."

"I believe the Cardassians should be treated as criminals because that's what they are. They exploited both native populations. I do think consigning them to the brig would be the best bet. Especially the Obsidian Order operative. I recommend we have a marksman with the TR-116 and its displaced targeting monitoring his movements. If he even steps out of line shoot him."

Uvek stood and faced his MA. "Mr. Koester a moment please." He moved to the corner of the room, not waiting to see if he was followed. When Koester arrived a moment behind him, he turned, making sure he was out of ear shot of all but the most sensitive members of the room. His face was slightly greener than normal. When he spoke, his voice was quiet, tight, and level.

"I am going to say two things to you. Bluntly. First, reign in your emotions and memories. They serve no purpose in these meetings, and will ultimately damage your Starfleet career. The war is over and it is time to gain control of the past. I am ordering you to seek out the ship's counselor and pursue anger management techniques. Vulcan works well." He paused, sizing up his man. "Second, you will assign ONE security man to stand watch outside sickbay. Dr. Kiv has all ready made her feelings well known in this regard. You will also select security men who have no prior experience with Cardassians, so as to avoid any more personal influences. Do I make myself clear on these counts? If so, we can return to this briefing. Please bear in mind, Petty Officer, these are NOT suggestions, nor open to discussion!"

Brennon nodded to Lieutenant Calodan, clearly in agreement.

"That sounds like a very solid plan Lieutenant. I'd like you to take command of the Willamette for this operation. In concert with Columbia you'll raise the wreckage and then return to the surface where you'll neutralize the Cardassian weapons. At that point, Commander Qech, I'd like you to begin negotiations with the Cardassians to return to the Alpha Quadrant with us. Commander Qech will be in command of the overall mission, team assignments to be decided by you both."

The Captain looked to Koester as he expresses himself and as he is taken aside by Lieutenant Uvek. Once the pair returns to the conference table he looks over towards the Counselor.

"Counselor, I'd like you to speak with Professor Kolar. Considering that he's been stranded for the last five years it's likely he is completely unaware of the war or the devastation on Cardassia Prime. He'll be needing your services I'm afraid."

He turns his attention to the room as a whole.

"Anything else?"

*****AS the Meeting breaks up, and during the coming time that the room is clearing*********

Uvek approaches the new ship's counsellor. His mind had been made up prior to the discussion with Petty Officer Koester, but his thoughts had become fuzzy and unfocused. He was having a difficult time reigning in his own feelings, let alone controlling Koester's.

"Ma'am," he started, extending his hand. "Jolen Tru, Counsellor. We have not been properly introduced. I am Lt. Uvek Suran, of Romulus. I am Chief Security Officer aboard." He paused, clearly uncomfortable with what he was about to do.

"I, er, that is, please see to it that a progress report is provided on PO Koester's development. He is an integral part of our security procedures." He paused again, unsure of how much to say, and uncertain of how to say something he had been trained to never admit.

"I would like to schedule a moment with you, when the opportunity presents itself. I realize you have a full plate, however, there are issues presenting themselves that the RDF did not necessarily prepare me for in this environment." His face flushed green at the prospect of asking anyone for help, but this element of teamwork and chain of command clearly had him flustered.

Petty Officer Smith piped up for a hot second: "Ladies and Gentlemen, I appologize for speaking out of turn, but whether we retrieve those cardassians in a rescue, or kill them in a sniper run, one thing remains - the captors or allies, or what have you - are a primitive race with some rather effective tactics. As I mentioned to Lt. Cdr Qech, its an ancient Earth tribe known as the Sioux that these tactics remind me of." Smith paused.

"Maybe we should look into these tactics further and then we can figure out what our next response will be."

As Koester was pulled aside, she couldn't help her curiosity and allowed herself a brief distration from the conference to drop in on thier conversation. Her curiosity got the better of her because of one main reason, she remembered Deanna saying something about that one in their last communication. He was not going to be an easy case to work on. She had to make sure to label him as a prioriety in schduleing. She watches as they return to the table and made note of the frustration and anger he wore plainly on his face.

When she heard the Captain address her, she turned her focus to him and listened to his request that she speak with Kolar. She nodded and felt a thrill of uncertainty travel through her. She would have to find a way to understand all that occured during the war, given that the Q had displaced her from this time just before the war started. It was a frustration she carried high on her list and had to remember to bring that up the next time Q decided to drop into her dreams again. Without anything to add to the conversation, she felt it best to keep her silence as the meeting broke up.

Standing and straightening her uniform she caught a whisper of something hesitant and uncertain. She looked up to see Uvek approaching her. She took his proffered hand and and regretted it the instant she did. Unable to stop it, she got a three second flood of thoughts, emotions, and images from his mind. It was not uncommon with her newer abilities that when a first physical contact is made with another species that carried strong mental abilties in their genetics, there was a momentary link created that she had no current gaurd against. She made no show of what occured other than a skipped heartbeat. She used his pause in speaking to allow herself an introduction.

"Greetings Sir. I am Reahil'ea Zeara."

She nodded at his request for a progress report on Koester. When he hesitated again, she kept her silence and waited for him to ask a question he wasn't used to asking.

"Given that I have recently arrived on board, you are one of the first to request a moment of my time. I am glad to offer help where it is needed, especially when requested." She smiled and began to walk, assuming he would follow her out. "I have a slight familiarity with Mr. Koester's history. Deanna sent over a transcript of her meeting with him when she got word of my transfer to the Hartington."

She stopped for a moment and paused to look at him in the hallway. "I will admit that you are the first Romulan I've known to ask for my help. I have had little interaction with Romulans, for rather specific reasons I do not presently wish to divulge, but I do look forward to the chance to work with you. Perhaps I can find a means to remove a few of said reasons." she looked away and continued walking toward the Turbolift. "If you can allow me the time to get settled in and have a look at your file, I will notify you of the first available opening in my schedule."

a silence hung in the air between them as she felt his uncertainty. Before he had a chance to speak, she spoke again. "I appologize if my words offended you, and perhaps some day I will be able to explain the meaning behind them." She said softly and took a deep breath to steady herself letting the silence linger a moment again.

"It should take no longer than 48 hours for me to notify you of an opening, and if all goes as well as I hope, it should take less time than that."

She smiled and looked at him as they reached the Turbolift.
