"Thank you for the information Lt. Ghan, but that'll be enough of the racial slurs if you don't mind."

Calodan reconfigured the phasers and began firing at ground targets again, scoring another hit on a disruptor and silencing it.

Qech kept a close eye on the lifesigns of the ground team as they made their way into the lion's den, doing her best to provide as much backup fire as possible. Above her, she could see the weapons fire from the willamette, surgically bringing down the cannons alongside her. From her place closer to the ground she was able to get some strong energy readings from the village site, and thus more trustworthy data. As she was taking out the last disruptor cannon, Qech recieved an urgent-sounding transmission from the Willamette.

"Columbia, 3 incoming torpedoes from from bearing 226 true, 9.2 km out. I have set our phasers to point defense mode. Your orders Commander?"

Qech blinked. Torpedos? She hastily checked and re-checked her scans.

"Columbia to Willamette. I'm not picking up any further weapon signatures from the crash site. There's a very odd energy distortion here, but it seems to have come and gone. Please clarify."

"Im tracing the flight path back to point of origin, and sending the info to you at Tactical Sir. Looks like that low ridge of hills was the launch point. Sir, I have the remaining power sources from this village locked. When ever Chief Blair is ready, that should be the last of the inhibitors."

Calodan opened the comm line again. "Im sorry about that Commander. Lt Ghan identified the torpedos as some sort of holographic ghosts that the Cardassians rigged up to make us jump."

"Chief, how is it coming on those transporter locks?"

Qech began her descent with the runabout, waiting for the word thay the inhibitors had been destroyed, and the weapons cores ejected before joining the ground crew in what she was sure would be a very quick 'delegation'.

If such a word applies She thought.

"Im sorry about that Commander. Lt Ghan identified the torpedos as some sort of holographic ghosts that the Cardassians rigged up to make us jump."

Qech shook her head and gave a sarcastic grin. "Well, it worked. Thanks for the grey hairs Lieutenant."

McTavish breathed a sigh of relief at the Engineer showed that the Torpedoes were just holograms. But why such an old model Torpedo? And why not some thing Cardasian?

"Chief, how is it coming on those transporter locks?"

Transporter Chief Blair concentrated on the transporter controls in front of her, toning out the rest of the universe. The Runabout's transporter hummed for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, 15 (a rather small eternity after all) seconds went by between Calodan's question and her answer but luckily for the away teams it was the right one.

"Sir, I'm confidant that we've picked up every weapon core down there. Looks like four hand weapons were down there, I'm not reading any further small arms"

**Other side of the village, Team 2, Thompson and Sloan.

There was a loud explosion. Phaser fire detonated inhibitors on the south side of the village and there was the sound of the disruptor fire. A disruptor was bad news. Thompson motioned to Sloan and moved in, watching for anything to indicate the other members were doing the same.

Suddenly there was a cry to his left. Sloan fell backward, two arrows portruding from his chest. He slumped against a rock. Thompson tried to turn to him, but arrows were flying toward him as well, bouncing off rocks, hitting trees with a thud. A number of Hukana were spreading from the village, while others were running from the runabout discharge.

He set his phaser on wide dispersal and fired. 3 Hukana fell without a sound, two others dove aside. There was more phaser fire and then, suddenly, a Cardassian appeared through the smoke. He was standing behind a disruptor cannon mounted on a makeshift frame. He had Hukana assisting him, with another Cardassian holding a scanning device not far away; obviously targeting the runabouts.

He crouched behind a hut, blasting two other Hukana in the process. He tapped his comlink. "Thompson to Columbia," he called out. "I have eyes on at least one Cardassian and a large disruptor! Request orders!"

He fired again, dropping a villager less than 2 feet away this time. Where the hell were Uvek and Smith?

"Initiate transport on my mark Chief. Lowering shields...3...2...1..mark." Calodan heard the transporters hum and very quickly disengage. "Very good Chief. Detecting no more energy signatures on the surface."

He activated the comm channel to the Columbia. "Commander, transport sequence complete. Good luck on your negotiations. We'll keep the comm channel open and keep a transporter lock on you and the away team in case you run into trouble."

(OOC: There are a few timeline issues with this post, we've already established at this point that both the hand held weapons and the cannons had been taken out. What we'll do is say that this particular action took place before the last few posts)

With the momentary calm, McTavish turned off the flashing red lights and pulled up the science senors and did a scan of the ridge line that produced the holograms. "Lt Calodan, I may have discovered why the Obsidian Order wants this place. Im reading several differing Star Ship hulls buried under that ridge line. Something in the mineral content is causing interference but I think we stumbled on a grave yard."

**Uvek on the Northside.....

Uvek entered the village, side swiping another Hukana. The people were short, compact but fit. However, the explosions did their job and the people were scattering. He saw Thompson on the far side coming around a hut, and firing a compact beam from his handheld. No rifle was present so he must have discarded it after a few shots. No sign of Sloan or Smith. Mavers had cut through huts on Uvek's right, his phaser leveled.

Two Cardassians stood in the center of the village. Their large disruptor array seemed to stop working and they were furiously working to recalibrate. The scanner had suddenly disappeared and they seemed to have no weapons. Better still, at the sight of the Federation operatives their expressions went from anger and anxiety to fear and resignation.

Another Hukana moved to intercept, but the Cardassian in charge called out and he stopped short. Smith appeared from between a hut behind Uvek and together they closed the circle, Thompson watching out for random Hukana, while the remaining team coraled the Obsidian Order men.

"Sorry sir but Sloan is dead." reported Thompson bluntly. Uvek was shocked to hear the news. No time to deal with that now.

"Uvek to Columbia," he called on his badge. "Village is secured. We are moving the Cardassians to a hut for additional security and standing by. One member of our team is dead, the others intact."

(OOC: Sorry about the lag, sometimes posts get in there while I'm building the thread. I try to be short, but I think I'm too long winded. Also, I understood we were disabling the Cardassian weapons only, the only weapons firing at this point are Federation and arrows from the Hukana)

(OOC: I'm posting Qech's response to Thompson, and her actions first for the sake of the timeline)

"Thompson to Columbia I have eyes on at least one Cardassian and a large disruptor! Request orders!"

Qech moved in closer with the shuttle, locking her weapons on the disruptor. She tapped her combadge.

"Thompson, fall back! I'm targeting the cannon!" Seconds after the soldier complied, Qech released a quick burst shot into the head of the disruptor.

(OOC: This takes place after Calodan's last post)

Qech landed the runabout a short distance away from the Hukana village and walked toward the now smoking landmarks. She could see the ground team, though none of their faces from this distance, closing in around the Cardassian operatives. They were holding their hands up in what looked like surrender, although Qech was sure it wasn't going to be that easy. As a way of confirming the situation, she tapped her combadge, holding her phaser high in her hands.

"Qech to Lieutenant Uvek... I'm heading toward the site now."

"Roger that Ensign." He checked over the Ensign's readings. "Looks like we can fly a little closer and still keep our lock on the away team. Bring us about to 226 mark 0 and make our speed 1/2 thrusters until we are within 5 km of the ridge. That ought to clear up the sensors a bit."

Calodan watched at McTavish made the course adjustments and the runabout flew to its target. "He's a very competent pilot," he thought to himself, "it is good to have him aboard."

As the runabout neared the ridge, he tuned the more powerful ventral sensor array on the ridge and the sensor readings became clear. "It looks like you just found a flight simulator Ensign. Reading multiple holographic signatures, appearing to be older ships. Also reading multiple Hukana on what appears to be a recreation of the bridge of an old Constitution class ship. That explains the torpedoes. They probably launched them at us."

A quick scan and phaser blast disabled the power source of the holographic chamber and sensors showed several Hukana running from a cave enterance. "That puts an end to that. Please return us to the village Ensign. I want to be in range in case the Commander needs a hand. Lt Ghan, please make sure the phasers are tuned to their minimum output. I'd like to be able to stun that whole village if we have to, our people included, without causing anyone any harm."

McTavish, his grin firmly in place, nodded to LT Calodan, "Aye, Sir" As he returned the ship to the edge of the village.
