Thanks for that, PENT and STO probably would have confused me as well, I've seen/translated the others before.

I guess my point is it's only a bad thing if you don't do anything about it. And since you apparently enjoy Trek, it shouldn't be a bad thing to learn about, should be fun. I know I love the technical aspect, and I by no means will ever win the trivia contest.

It's not a matter of fun, but a matter of feeling awed by the amount of thing I don't know.

Haha! Me neither, as it's considered 'cheating' to use the Internet. Smile

(The questions could be more difficult, so using the 'net wouldn't be a direct ticket to victory)

But I guess Mr. Calodan would still win.

I just have one of those minds that holds onto the little details about everything. If you name a season, I can spit of episode names for pretty much any ST series (besides TOS and TAS) and give you basic details of what happened in that episode.

Sadly, this power doesn't seem to translate to real-life skill. I kill at Trivial Pursuit though.

It would be nice to play against you. I am very good at Trivial Pursuit. But I'm digressing...

Thats the wonderful thing about all of this. You dont have to know everything to play. You have to know enough to get a feeling for what is going on around you in the game, ala watched some of the shows.
Only some of us tech-no dweebs needs to know how many meters clearance there is in the warp core Or that Each tractor beam emitter is built around three multiphase 15 MW graviton polarity sources. You dont even need to know what something like that means. All you need to know is that kind of info is out there. And to not be afraid to PM some one to ask.
Your a Medical Intern. Sick Bay is a fully equipped hospital. If it helps you, think of your self not on a Star Ship but on ER, or Jackie, or Scrubbed or the new show Drama (oops thats Trauma). As a Cadet, your still a student. You have not even graduated the Academy (well you have but your out on a ship to learn so ask all the questions you need too.) You are expected to know basic medical facts not how to disable the warp manifold to stop a plasma leak.

Yes its a ton of info. Written by Thousands and Thousands of fans. No one is going to know it all, with out years of study. And you dont have to. Dont be over whelmed by some of the 'knowledge' we spew out. Your ideas and thoughts are just as important and just as valid, if you just arnt sure how to make it Star Treky ask someone. I dont think any of us bite. much. Maybe Points does, he is trixy that one.

Please do not misunderstand me. I don't think any of you bite. In fact, I'm having a great time.

It's just that sometimes I feel awed by the 'apparent' ease with which you seem to talk as if you had been in any of the Star Trek series for years...

I started Playing Dungeons and Dragons in the fall of 1979. I got the Star Trek RPG from Fasa as a Christmas present in 1984. So ive been playing role playing games forever and Star Trek almost forever. And my biggest advantage is that I was in the US Navy for 11 years. As much as things are different they are remarkably the same.
By the way at the moment you have a huge advantage. Your playing a race you created. And your doing a very good job. Azmay, to me, is coming across as an explorer, tempered by Es innocence, but pushed forward by Es curiosity. The only thing you need is practice, practice, practice.

Liam I thought I might be one of the older ones, but in 1979 I was in diapers. LOL. I love trek, would love to be a writer some day, and love to talk to people that like some of the things I do. This is why I rp.

I'm just going to point out that I am not one of the older ones. In fact your dashing, adventurous and amazing Captain is only 25 years old. I wasn't even alive when Mr. McTavish started playing D&D. I'm not sure how I feel about that...

feel? Feel happy happy joy joy. We have a good thing going here, lets not get jittery because we have an old man on board lol I admittedly know a lot less than Captain Brennon and tons less then Calodan. You would be surprised how many hours I worked on the first meeting between Our pet Kilngon and McTavish. But im practiced in meshing into a group and feeding off the situation.

I think I might be one of the youngins aboard the ship.

I am the ripe old age of 21...thought most days I feel 50. Bum knee and a bad back means I creak and moan like a man twice my age. On the positive side, I can always tell when it is going to rain.

I hurt my food several years ago at work, small fractures of the bone that hardly count as a break. Point is I know how you feel about the rain... not fun. In fact it hurts right now. Whenever I'm not moving too much for very long it gets really sore.

Incidentally, in 1983 when I joined the Air Force, I had been playing Dungeons and Dragons since 1975, so long I had a land called the Torloc Empire, even before they even introduced a Gods mode. I had all ready played Champions for a year and Top Secret for at least that long. In June I enjoyed my 45th birthday.

I got Starfleet Battles as a gift in 1980 as a way to get into some other RPG. In 1982 I was given Champions and our D & D team switched off for a couple years to build the Challengers. My cousin Mike, friends Kevin and Tim built fleets for Starfleet battles, though and in 1984 I took the game to Wyoming to play with my younger brother, who was collecting Transformers (still has the all metal versions of most of them). During those years I built a collection of Star Trek that I thought would last forever. Had all the movies, all the ships, many Franklin Mint pieces, blueprints, etc. Lost most after a divorce in 2000, and now this sim has become a way to bring all that energy back to life.
