The Captain looked quizzically towards his Watch Officer and slowly nodded.

"Of course, Mr. McTavish. Is there something wrong?"

Uvek felt great relief when Commander Qech came into the room. He had been beside her on the planet, vaguely remembering the fight on the planet's surface. He nodded politely to her and smiled. Something is different, he thought, in her demeanor. Did something happen in sickbay?

Putting that out of his mind, he turned to the ambassador. The man's smile was getting old fast. He is definitely hiding something. First, this claim of ignorance on the planet. Then the Tal'harton show up, claiming this world, but the Obsidian Order shows up first. Finally he produces all this information, more each moment, on a world he claims no interest in. It's all too curious.

Ambassador Rolen's eyes move first towards Commander Qech, noting the timing of her words. He cocked his head ever-so-slightly to the side as she sat down then turning his attention towards Lieutenant Uvek. His deeply blue eyes seemed to burn into the Security Chief. His smile, never faltered.

Calodan leaned slightly back in his chair and watched the table.

"There is something new with the Commander, something besides the teleporter sickness." he thought to himself, then turned his eyes to Rolen and watched the Vorta carefully.

"What I wouldn't give the be Betazoid right now. That man's smile is insufferable and I would love to know what is going on in the head behind it."

The awkward silence in the room was drilling through the Commander's head like a phaser torch, and she couldn't help but wonder exactly what she just walked into. She noticed the Vorta was watching her as she sat down and shot him a very unfriendly look.

What is he smiling at?

"Yes Sir. Everything is fine, Im sure, just need a moment."
McTavish left the Conference room in a hurry and made for the nearest Head. As soon as he left the Conference room the buzzing in his head diminished.
McTavish barely made it to the head before he was sick.
McTavish washed his face and stared into the mirror for a moment before returning to the Conference room. Along the way clamping down as hard as he could on all of his defenses and control.

(OOC: Has PO Koester gone to fetch the counselor yet? Should we assume they are enroute or send out an APB?)

(I sent the Counselor a PM, Koester hasn't been on since yesterday so I hope we'll see him soon-ish)

Calodan looked the Commander over again and pondered her for a moment.

"She's pregnant!," he thought to himself. Having had 5 lifetimes, in which he'd been pregnant twice and a father twice, he recognized the dazed look. "She just got the news and is all off kilter."

Uvek thought..Time to stir the pot. In preparation for Counselor Zeara's arrival, and to ensure emotions were as close to the surface as possible, he turned to the Captain.

"Captain, perhaps now is a good time to mention a portion of the discussion I had with Ambassador Rolen. Now that Petty Officer Koester revealed his concerns that the ambassador has not been totally forthcoming with his information on this planet." He turned to Rolen.

"Perhaps you meant exactly what you said earlier, when you mentioned that you had been sent here to 'steer us away from your backyard.'" He smiled. "It has been my experience, Mr. Ambassador, that most personal effects are often kept hidden in one's so-called backyard."

McTavish entered the Conference room, trying to be as unobtrusive as possible.

He took his seat, color slowly returning to his face. McTavish thought to himself, 'So from dead silence to tension you can cut with a knife. Great'

(OOC: terrible sorry for the delay, it's been a rough few days)

The doors slid open revealing the full conference room, some of her crewmates looking weary and damaged. She had no idea why she'd been summoned to a debreifing for a mission she'd had no direct part in. With a deep breath, she stepped in and was glad that she'd had her mental walls up and secured. The tension in the room could be cut with a knife, and you didn't have to be psychic to know it.

"Captian" was her one word greeting.

Brennon looked over to the Counselor and motioned for her to join them. He them looked down the table towards Kolar and Rolen.

"Professor, I need to ask you, for certanty's sake. Did you have any knowledge of the Order's plan for this world and its inhabitants?"

Professor Kolar looked white as a ghost, an impressive feat for a gray skinned Cardassian. His head shook from side to side, his face made his fear clear to any who could see him.

"No, Captain, none at all. As I said, I am a scientist... I have been an advocate of a non-intervention protocol like your Prime Directive for many years, but the Central Command doesn't listen to civilians."

The Captain looked to the Counselor, expectantly.

"Lieutenant?"

Nodding to the Captain as he motioned her forward and taking seat in an empty chair, she tried to understand what had been going on. Taking one looke at the Professor, she began to understand. Letting her mind open to those around her, she closed her eyes as her breath catches. So many minds in one space overwhelmed with emotions, it was difficult to pick out just mind, but she managed it.

The Captain looked to the Counselor, expectantly.

"Lieutenant?"

Knowing what it was she was asked here for, she opened her eyes and looked at the Captain.

"He speaks the truth Captain. I sense only good intentions from him and there is no dishonesty in what he says."

She kept her comments to a minimum, unsure of what else could be said and what should be said while in such company. Feeling a strange energy eminated from the Ambassador she turned her attention to him and had to bite her tounge to keep from speaking out of turn. Returning her attention to the Captain, she sat quietly suddenly wanting very much to be anywhere but here.

Qech breathed a silent sigh of relief. She wanted to believe very much that Professor Kolar had indeed been truthful with her. Ever since she looked into his care-worn face she'd known he'd been telling the truth, but the proceedings at the debriefing had planted the seeds of doubt in her mind; something she was now slightly ashamed of. She smiled, and sent a look of sympathy to the Cardassian; one that clearly read: "I'm sorry for doubting you."

The ambassador on the other hand... Something about him just rubbed her the wrong way. She felt a little guilty for snapping to such a judgment, but a feeling was a feeling, and she could no more easily get rid of it than she could remove her own hand. Altogether it had simply been a confusing day, and the presence of a betazoid when she was feeling so emotionally scrambled made her a little tense. She wanted to get out of there, but she sat still and rigid in her seat, waiting for the Captain to see fit to dismiss them.
