This would be an excellent moment to have a transwarp corridor open and a Borg scout ship come through.
they may be done with the Alpha quadrant, but they are still spreading.
Just an evil thought from the mind of he who loves a challenge. _________________

I think the Tal'Harton will be more than enough to keep us busy, realistically, without a Picard to fork up all the borg's secrets, two ships wouldn't stand a chance against even a sphere or scout. _________________

I have to agree with you on that one, Picard always had a trick up his sleeve, no matter how close to the end it was . . . . |

Ummm can we please not get Ensign McTavish tossed in the brig or kilt so soon? I kinda like him. Ill be adding to his character as too what happened to him during Wolf 359 while his father and brother and sister where killed (Here is a hint. An Open mind link between him and his sister while she is being assimilated.) _________________

McTavish FTW? Your post has me lost, are you saying you would like a run in with the borg, just not yet? _________________

To be honest Mack is both in a deep seated rage and in mortal terror of the Borg. On meeting the Borg he would either attack relentlessly until dead, not assimilated but dead, or do everything in his limited power to save everyone around him from the Borg.
Ive been working on the back story for a bit. It ties together his relationship with his mother, the klingon empire and the Borg. _________________

Here's my opinion on the Borg, the queen and the voyager series.
I don't care what was introduced as a virus, nono-bomb, or whatever. The Borg assimilate new technology and races. Despite their battle with species 8472, they are still a formidable foe. The Queen, in my mind, was just a species of super-intellect that stole a ship, and caught the Borg up in her rebellion, overwhelming their hive minds. She represented herself as the Queen, but (this is totally my imagination, mind you) she only had a segment of the Borg.
If hackers in Microsoft can come up with patches for their anti-viral stuff, surely a body of beings created of an amalgam of micro-tech and computer knowledge can come up with transitional technology themselves. I love the Borg! I think they can pre-date starfleet in a number of ways, and can be found throughtout writings from Stargate to Star Wars. Anywhere that biological entities are infused with nano-technology.
In my mind the Borg will always adapt. If the Heirarchy can threaten the Intrepid class, if the Pakleds can hold the Enterprise hostage, then surely the Borg can adapt and overcome!
Here's a tantalizing thought, tho....we have two starships, two warp cores, two sets of shields alternating at two sets of frequencies. Close contact with tractor beam technology to lock us in sync, and bingo! A defense the Borg have never met. Couple all this with our shuttles and quantum torpedos and bob's your uncle! _________________

Whoa!! Bob's my uncle?!?
I always thought he was a cousin...
I like your ideas for fighting the Borg. It might actually hold them off for a minute or so. Especially if we used to different random modulation techniques on each ship. _________________

LOL! Yep, draw them out with sensor drones sending out ghost readings to draw their attention. Move into close quarters, tie in tractor beams to sync up the ships. Then one set of shields is held in close on one frequency modulation, the other ship extends shields at another FM. Meanwhile, we punish them with twin phaser shots, also with alternating frequency, while quantum torpedos pound into their shields.
Meanwhile, a shuttle is dispatched. It contains a micro-graviton emitter. The mine is attached onto the hull after the ship penetrates the shields of the Borg ship. The graviton emitter goes off and vibrations penetrate the hull right at the primary power coupling for the shields. We move in concert with each other, and send all weapons right into the exposed area of the ship. POW.....the damage is done.
Of course, this assumes the borg are not just another ship of misfits looking for a hug....LOL _________________

While the conversation here is interesting I'd just like to let you know two things:
1) I have a plan for the Borg.
2) At the end of the Destiny series they are gone forever. Destiny is in 2381, we're in 2376 so we've got a little ways to go. _________________

Well, I stick to my own mind. Destiny can take the Borg out if it wants, but if Star Trek can be filmed in an alternate timeline, and people can oooh to spock having sex with Uhura, I can still enjoy the borg!
