We need to have a discussion about a few more things. I want everyone to know first and foremost I am not pointing fingers nor am I angry with anyone. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone upset, but these things need to be said. I have been seeing a few things that I would rather not see in the future for the sake of the game's smooth functioning.

1) The most important thing is to remember the sanctity of each of the other characters in the game. This maybe a cooperative storytelling effort, but we each have a specific part to play in this Simulation. The main thing to remember here is that no one can cause any major scene changes with any other Player Character without the expressed permission of the player who would be affected. Little things like on the Bridge asking for a status report can be done, but moving a character from one location to another cannot. NPCs are very similar. If you are a Department Lead you may use any NPC in your department at any time. You may not take control of another department's NPC unless given permission by the Department Lead, XO or CO. This may seem restrictive, but it's important in order to keep an internal sense of continuity for the storytelling.

2) We need to remember things written in our applications. The reasons we have these applications is so that we have a basis to start our characters. If you want to grow beyond this, a natural impulse to be sure, you'll have to grow naturally. I don't want to see things suddenly appear on your character's bio page that wasn't on your application, at least nothing that is too wildly different. I have allowed this to fly recently because I've been unsure how to handle it and I won't be taking anything away arbitrarily, but know that in the future I would like a little more continuity between what you tell me you want to play and what you actually start playing.

3) No one is perfect. Simple rule of life. Even Data, superstrong, supersmart android wasn't perfect. He didn't have emotions until the films and when he got them he was as fucked up with them as we can be. What does this teach us? Flaws are fun. They give us character, they give us something to work with. Flaws provide conflict and conflict drives story. Put another way? Your character cannot be the best at everything. There will be things that your character will fail at, will not be as good as some others at. It's a fact of life. Some species will have a natural edge over your species, some people will have a knack for a skill that is just better then yours. Look at the Captain, he's gone through a very nasty situation in life, the death of his wife. He's a wreck emotionally and he needs help. It's enjoyable to play and I accept that he can't always win. Remember that going forward.

4) This is really a subset of the last point. Canon is very important to me. It supersedes even novel continuity that I love so much. There are things some species can and cannot do in Star Trek canon. If you would like to break canon for some reason I need you to come to me first, before you post it up. I may be willing to work with you, I may not be, but if you make the decision for yourself I will not and we will have words.

I am not trying to ruin anyone's fun, but this form of Role Playing lends itself very well to the Mary/Gary Sue/Stu syndrome. Without the equalizer of dice rolling people have the ability to go wild with their characters, making things happen that are so outlandish that it can ruin the story. What is the point to making a character that can't loose or almost never looses? I recently came off of a two year long Changeling: the Dreaming chronicle and towards the end my players were nigh unstoppable. It was frustrating to me and boring for them. I will not allow that to happen here. We must control our urges to do these thing. The heroes of Star Trek don't always win, we can't either. We need to follow their example.

I will be the first to say "GUILTY" to the first one for sure. I appreciate that, and I think my exhuberance for the game is/was getting ahead of me. I hope you (captain) will PM me if I step out in other ways. I have too much fun here to ruin it with my "push".

Thank you for the words of caution. Well said and point taken.

Uvek/Mark

okay, so I'm sure something of that applies to me, so if it does... would someone pm me so that I can be made aware and fix it before I do it again... cause I'm good at causing problems is what my friends tell me.

I'm also sure some of this applies to me, too, so please, Captain, if that's so, PM as soon as possible so I will be able to correct it.

I'll send you a complete species report on the three Lorabyn species, and won't add more features on-the-fly (as their ability to pass without sleep for a long time, even if it has consequences later).

Just slap my hand if I overstep myself.
