The Crew of the Hartington did what they could to prepare their ship for the return of the three away parties. Lieutenant Ghan's team worked around the clock to not only make sure that the ship would be prepared to return to peak efficiency, but also worked to ensure that the dilithium and spare parts returned to the ship would be able to be properly processed and put to use. Captain Brennon worked to restore himself to health, but also aided in what little repair work he could muster the strength for.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Uvek and his Security Team worked to discover the truth behind the explosion that crippled their ship... _________________

"Uvek to Chief of Boats, ready to depart." Uvek had spent several minutes studying the shuttlpod controls, bringing his memories back to life. For a split second he had a flashback of moments in his Tal Shiar days trying to elude Federation security teams. He almost laughed aloud when he realized that he, Uvek Suran, was Starfleet security!
After getting clearance from the COB, he left the secondary shuttlebay, and swept around to the Port nacelle. Fvadt! He thought. What a mess.
The nacelle lay open and damaged from the forward Bussard collectors to the midsection coils. Debris floated in various spots and the ship was clearly drifting.
"Uvek to Lt. Ghan," he called out. "Commencing scans. It is advisable that whatever emergency power is available beyond life support be applied to maneuvering thrusters. IF this was a cloaked mine or other device, we cannot afford to drift into another one."
Quote: | "...that brings the power reserves up to bear minimums. We'll have enough power for lights, life support, internal communications and the main turbolifts -- that is if we don't overuse them. |

Ghan called back over the com to Uvek.
"We're working on that as we speak, Lieutenant. By the way, the Captain is here and wants to talk with you."
A moment later, the voice of Captain Brennon came over the shuttlepod's speakers.
"Lieutenant, I'd like you to return to the Hartington after another pass at the nacelle. Collect whatever data you can, store it in the pod's computers and then report to Commander Qech aboard the Shuttlecraft Pike... think of it as a little bit of misdirection for the Ambassador. I'd like you to keep the team safe. Don't worry about shipboard security, I'm sure that PO Smith can hold down the fort until you get back." _________________

"Understood, Captain, I'll be in the shuttle bay in less than 10 minutes. Uvek out."
Curious, he thought, maneuvering around the outside of the nacelle, and avoiding pieces of the ship in the process. The ambassador had been on stellar behavior since their encounter some months back. But, he felt much better knowing someone would be with the Pike on their return trip to the wormhole. Since the war ended many races were coming into and through the Gamma quadrant. Romulans, Cardassian, Jem'Hadar...there seemed no end to them. Even discovering the Tal'harton proved there were more threats here than met the eye.
He felt good knowing at least he would have time to directly observe the ambassador, while fulfilling his true function on this ship. Scans complete, he sent the shuttlepod back into the bay, and prepared to board the Pike. _________________

OOC: I'm sorry I disappeared for some hours... my time zone and my work hours have prevented me today from saying anything. Just would like to point out that both my characters are on board the Hartington.
Character: Ensign Azmay balim Fastaten
Location: Sickbay
Ensign Azmay looked around Sickbay, silently thanking the universe for the increased better of most of the crew. It seemed that most of those who had been worst wounded were back on their feet, or at least, would be in a few days. E went back to er work, walking around the biobeds, practicing er bedside manner, chatting with the patients, helping them, and trying to get everyone better in the most efficient way possible.
Character: Ensign Koa Tanay
Location: On duty around the Hartington
It seemed that the Vorta ambassador, instead of being hidden in a closet, had been helping savid trapped and wounded crewmembers. Koa Tanay didn't know much about the Dominion and the Vorta, but most things she hard heard were bad. They didn't seem to be honorable. They didn't seem to be fair. They stank of disloyalty and cruelty. Now, with the three Away Teams gone, Ensign Koa Tanay had a lot of time for erself, to think as e patrolled. E wished e could have more time to talk to Lt. Uvek, the Chief Security Officer. E surely looked like a man one could depend upon. |

A message comes over the com to you (Each character left aboard the Hartington). Its Yeomen M'Rowl, her voice purring forth from your combadge.
"The Captain would like you to attend a brief meeting in the Team Room to better coordinate the recuperation of the ship."
It leaves very little to the imagination, your Captain and your ship need you. _________________

Ensign Azmay checked one last time the status of es patients and turned the EMH on, just in case. E asked the Hologram to hold Sickbay, and explained the situation of each patient. Then, e walked to the Team Room.
OOC: It is going to be played in this thread, isn't it? |

(OOC: Yes it would be but I'm just going to advance the story a little)
ACTION
As the summoned crewmen made their way towards the Team Room suddenly the ship shuttered again, nearly knocking over unsuspecting crewmen. This was unlike the explosion that crippled the Hartington, this was more like an impact...
Suddenly over the coms came the voice of an unnamed crewmen:
"Hull breach on deck 23, force fields are... oh my god! We're being boarded! Intruder alert!" _________________

Azmay felt the ship shaking from the impact, and stood fast against one of the corridor's walls. E then tapped es commbadge:
"Ensign Azmay to Sickbay. This one is on es way to the Team Room. Hull 23 reports Intruder Alert. Report" |

USS Hartington
Chief Brin Vek
Brin had been working on some damaged power conduits when the call to the team room had come across. His broad background allowed him to step out of science to help the engineering teams get power restored to the ship.
As he made his way across deck 22 he felt the ship shake, he lost his balance but tucked into a roll, landing in crouch, not very graceful but uninjured.
"Hull breach on deck 23, force fields are... oh my god! We're being boarded! Intruder alert!"
Brin stood slowly, looking to both ends of the corridor. He slowly drew the phaser the Chief Engineer had insisted he carry while the ship was damaged. I guess I'm glad I have this now, just like the resistance, only glad I'm armed when I need it He tapped his combadge.
"Brin to security, I am on deck 22, so far all clear. Security force fields are non-functional at this time." He slowly worked down the corridor until he found a recessed doorway, then took cover, watching both ends of the hallway.
"Security, where are you?" He whispered to the empty hallway. _________________

Petty Officer Koester
(OOC: Sorry for my prolongued absence but the Army's kept me busy of late)
Koester clutched his TR-116 in his hand and tapped his comm badge. "Smith, this is Koester, report on that intruder alert."
Koester slipped the eyepiece for the TR-116 over his right eye and s
he scanned the corridors for intruders. |

As the crew prepares to defend their critically ill starship several aliens enter in through various hull breaches in the lower decks. These breaches apparently connect the attacking vessels to the Hartington, allowing for quick access to their prey. Several groups of aliens spill forth from the wounds on Hartington's hull. They look more like large flightless vultures than anything else, their twisted and ugly forms stalk into the corridors of the Starfleet ship. _________________

Koester placed the crosshairs of the TR-116 onto the center of one of the vulture alien's skulls. Thanks to the high resolution of the exographic targeting scanner he was able to see them in detail.
He squeezed the trigger and sent a single tritanium bullet into the skull of one of the aliens from two decks up, thanks to the weapon's built in microtransporter. |

USS Hartington
Chief Brin Vek
Brin's fingers tighten on his phaser as he sees movement at the far end of the corridor. Several figures were slowly approaching, systematically scanning each door of the corridor with a tricorder type device. Brin prepares to take aim, noticing the distinct birdlike appearance of each figure, minus the feathers. Wait till they both are in range... _________________

(OOC: hey whadda ya know... I'm alive... well sort of. Going to try to jump in here... keeping it simple and general)
"The Captain would like you to attend a brief meeting in the Team Room to better coordinate the recuperation of the ship."
Hearing the combadge call, she set her plate of food down and stood up and was glad she'd at least taken a moment to sit down and try to eat. Since her nightmare a few days ago, she'd lost a fair portion of her appitite. Unable to communicate with her family back home had left her uneasy. As she made her way down the corridor she felt the ship shudder and was thrown against the wall. Her shoulder taking most of the impact, she righted herself and felt the twinge of pain run through her arm. It would bruise, but she'd suffered worse.
"Hull breach on deck 23, force fields are... oh my god! We're being boarded! Intruder alert!"
At that very moment she felt the strangest thing and when the hair on the back of her neck stood up, she made a run for the turbolift. _________________
