The Doctor was intrigued. what did he have that these bloody cobras wanted. but then again, if they were being nice to him, and not terrorizing him, then he should use it to make friends with them. If you can't beat them, join them.
The Doctor cleared his mind, then his thought, and then spoke.
"I am Doctor Oliver Newell, currently a member of Starfleet."
This was ridiculous, they know who i am, and if they couldn't tell by my uniform then . . . .
"I was brought up on earth, and currently hold no religious belief. am neutral, i, i work for you."
The words that came out of the Doctors mouth were not his own, they were someone else's, they were . . . . .alien

(OOC: Doctor, keep in mind that you have no way of knowing what the other crewmen are going through at the moment)

One of Rolen's swollen eyes opened and looked up to the Commander. He tried to speak, tried to sit up but to no avail. The Vorta was clearly in a great deal of pain. Through a great deal of effort he moved his hand, waving it. It took a moment, but Qech realized what he was doing, he was beckoning her closer. As she lowered herself closer to him he whispered, wheezing as he spoke.

"Y... you'd be pr... oud, Command...er..."

***

"I told you, I came from your ship! I cannot remember anything before that. My companions told me we were here to learn. That is all I remember. I want to speak to Inquisitor Voss. I want to speak to my companions. You must not harm them!"

One of his Tal'Harton interrogators stepped forward, a glint of metal shining off of the dim light. In short order, the Romulan could feel the sting of the blade on his flesh and the warmth of even more of his emerald blood flowing from his body. At the same time, another one of these monsters -- and truly they monsters they must be -- took up a position on his other side, grabbing his arm. Uvek felt the sharp pinch of a needle against his skin as they injected him with something. All the while the leader of the group, the one who asked the questions... the one who took his ear... stood over him, smiling.

"Do you know what we've just injected into you, Mr. Uvek?"

***

"I was brought up on earth, and currently hold no religious belief. am neutral, I, I work for you."

Sann smiled as the Doctor spoke, his serpentine features bring a great deal of comfort to the Human's eyes.

"Too true, Doctor, too true. Would you believe it if I told you that we've never encountered your kind before, never heard the word Earth before. I'm curious, where is this Earth and how is it you are in the company of so many aliens that are unlike yourself?"

(OOC: sure thing, i edited the post Smile)
The doctor spoke a list of facts that had no hint of coming from him.
"Earth co-ordinates are 233.869 to quadrants gamma and alpha, 9.484 intercept. I work with aliens, as that is my duty as a star fleet officer, to overcome differences and work in unity to explore space."

The pain of his wounds was clouding what little judgement he had left at this point, and the Romulan struggled to focus. His arm was on fire from at the injection point.

"I do not know what you have given me, but I do know what you are," replied Uvek, breathing hard and trying to control his reactions, "You are a Drabhik, no better than a Jhimm!"

He spit blood into the inquisitor's face, his instincts for self-preservation and ch'Rihansu pride welling up from some deep reservoir. "I am a Tal Shiar officer! I will never surrender!" Gone now was the Federation, gone was his commission, only Uvek the spy remained, and even less given the effects of his mind-altering experiment. Now he was just emotion, pain and anger; sealed in a cocoon of hate, struggling against his captors.

"I do not remember much, but I will never forget you, and you will pay for this!" He said, venom in his voice. But for now, the drugs began coursing through his body, and his mind was consumed with the fire of his wounds....

"Y... you'd be pr... oud, Command...er..."

Qech gave a sad smile despite herself. Any petty reservations she'd previously had with the Vorta quickly melted away under her sympathy. He wasn't a Dominion Ambassador anymore. He wasn't a former enemy. He was a comrade-in-arms; a relationship to be respected. More importantly, he was someone in need.

"I'm sure I would, Rolen" she said softly. She sat for a moment, eying the thin, tattered excuse for a blanket at the end of her bed. She was cold, but it was something she'd have to live with. In spite of the burning pain coursing through every inch of her body, Qech forced herself to sit up and throw her shaking legs over the side of the bed, taking hold of the blanket as she did so. A yelp of pain crept up her throat, but she held it back as she continued to push her broken body further than she knew she should. There was blood on her uniform, which had been punctured and ripped in places. She could only assume it was hers, even if she didn't notice any open wounds.

She stood up very slowly, supporting herself almost entirely on the wobbly table next to her where she had found the soup bowl. Rolen watched her with one swollen eye as she fell onto the edge of his bed, fighting to sit erect. He looked curious, clearly wondering why she would put herself through so much just to sit by him.

The Commander shook her head as she looked over his wounds. "I would give anything for my medkit right now. I suppose I'll have to work with what I have." Slowly, and with great effort, she began to tear the old blanket into bandages.

Sann nodded, listening to the Doctor's every word. His eyes followed the Human, as a predator follows its prey. If he had been of his own mind, Newell may have found this unnerving.

"This is all very good, Doctor. Very good indeed. I'm going to have one of the guards take you up to your room now, you need to get some rest... I can see how tired you are just by looking at you. You know, you are very privileged, Doctor Newell, I don't think you quite realize it yet. I can see how someone like yourself could instill jealousy in his fellows. You'll want to keep our encounter to yourself, tell no one of it... I dare not think of what they would do if they thought for an instant that you were our favored."

With that, a large reptilian hand set down on the Human's shoulder, urging him to follow.

***

Lieutenant Uvek's torture went on for several hours. As it turned out the drug that was injected into the Romulan was a high grade stimulant that kept the man from passing out from the intense pain. After a time he was left alone with only the searing memory of his wounds as company. An eternity passed in the darkness. Uvek knew neither the comfort of sleep or the release of death. Finally, as the drugs wore off and sleep began to take him the light returned, if only for a moment. A rustling sound approached the Romulan from behind and began to pull at his bindings.

***

Ambassador Rolen soon fell into a deep sleep. More like a coma... Qech thought to herself as she sat back. She was exhausted and even though she had yet to sleep and the pain of her wounds, though fading, still took their toll on her body. She pulled herself up onto her bed and lay back, hoping for some small amount of rest.

It didn't come.

Mere minutes later she stirred from her near-sleep by the lurking of the large reptilian guards. Their dark eyes glared down upon her.

"Get up."

Qech opened her eyes quickly, jolted out of one nightmare and back into another. She saw the guards standing over her and her heart raced.

"Get up."

She looked to the empty beds around her, hoping to find her other two shipmates there. But Uvek and Dr. Newell were still unaccounted for.

The guards looked to have grown impatient when she didn't immediately comply with their orders. She didn't care. She shoved their cold hands away, glaring up at them in the darkness.

"Where are my companions? I'm not going anywhere until I know they're safe." The Commander knew that all she had was bluster. In her state she had no upper hand. But she could go with her head up, at least.

"Where are my companions? I'm not going anywhere until I know they're safe."

One of the guards shook his head while the other reached a massive clawed hand out towards her.

"You will either come with us on your own or we will drag you, broken legs dragging in the dirt. The choice is yours."

She knew she had no choice. Added broken bones would not help her situation in the least. With obvious reluctance, Qech laboriously pulled herself into a sitting position and then placed her feet on the floor. Standing up straight was nearly impossible for the pain in her midsection, and she all but stumbled over to the waiting guards, holding her head up as she did so.

Looking dead into their eyes, she said: "Your God must be quite an indecent sort, to have bred creatures like you."

Uvek felt someone pulling at his bindings from behind. He was unable to completely focus, his mind reeling from drugs and pain.
"Wh....who's there?" he muttered, trying to look over his shoulder. Somehow his neck didn't want to work, and his voice was thick and slow.

What did they do to me? he wondered to himself, as the mysterious being continued to work his lashes.

Fire flashed in one of the guards eyes and he lifted his clawed hand to strike her. The blow nearly connected when he was stopped by his fellow.

"No!" He hissed, "She is to be unharmed..."

The first lowered his arm to Qech's shoulder and pulled her along violently. They exited the building, walking into the night towards the large manor house nearby. The temperature remained nearly constant, hot and humid. However, the most noticeable oddity of her surroundings came very quickly to the Commander. As a Starfleet Officer, one of the first things she noticed was the stars. One would think that being around them for much of her life she would have learned to ignore them, but no, they were very distinctive to her in most every day situations. The oddity here was the lack of stars in their night sky. Qech didn't have the time to wonder about this for very long as she was pulled along and into the house.

She was released in the foyer of the elegant home. Standing before her was another "regal" Tal'Harton, dressed in flowing robes of earth tones. He looked similar to Inquisitor Voss, though this creature was clearly different. Taller, thicker. He waved off the guards and took a step forward.

"Commander Qech, welcome to my home. I am Mihaj Sann, administrator of this facility. We have a lot to discuss."

"Commander Qech, welcome to my home. I am Mihaj Sann, administrator of this facility. We have a lot to discuss."

Qech glowered at the alien in front of her. She was getting so tired of these games. Her body was sore and tired, and she could barely stand. A rage boiled up within her as her mind raced back through her tortured experience at their hands. She didn't know what they had done to the symbiont, and she had no way of knowing if her baby was even still alive. Her comrades were nowhere to be found...'A lot to discuss' indeed.

"I want to know where you're keeping my friends. Your inquisitor broke a promise to me. He said we weren't to be harmed. It appears honesty is not highly prized in your religion. You said you want to talk, well fine. But I bear no allegiance to you, or your false God, so don't expect too much cooperation from me."

She glared at him, eyes burning, chest pounding. To hell with them all.

A voice whispered behind Uvek as his bindings fell free.

"My name is Jalas," came a distinctly young and feminine voice. As she moved into the dim light in front of Uvek her true nature became clear: She was Tal'Harton.

"I'm a friend..." She offered a canteen of water to Uvek, smiling as she did. She couldn't have been more than 14 Terran years... why would she offer him her help?

"Your Doctor is being held in the manor, I'm unsure about your Commander. The Vorta was returned to the barracks badly beaten... as I can see you have been." She extends out a cloth to the Romulan's bloody ear-stump as she spoke.

***

"I want to know where you're keeping my friends. Your inquisitor broke a promise to me. He said we weren't to be harmed. It appears honesty is not highly prized in your religion. You said you want to talk, well fine. But I bear no allegiance to you, or your false God, so don't expect too much cooperation from me."

"Your friends are in secured areas. Lieutenant Uvek is being held in an interrogation ward, Doctor Newell is being cared for in this building. The three of you will be free to go as soon as we're finished here, though I am afraid your vessel will be held for further analysis."

He shuffled some papers, read briefly and then continued.

"Your Vorta, Rolen. You may not be aware of this but there is an active and persistent state of war between the Tal'Harton Holy Order and the Dominion. He is a prisoner of war and will be treated as such. We thank you for bringing him to our attention. As for the injuries you and yours have sustained while in our company, I apologize for this. Lieutenant Uvek was... resistant to some of our interrogation regimens. The appropriate discipline methods have been taken on the offending interrogator. As for your treatment during the medical examinations, you may have noticed that our medical science lags behind your Federation medicine. Any harm that has come to you was not intentional."

He slides a folder over to the Commander, inside are her medical files.

"You'll be happy to know that your child is fine, so far as we can tell. I have asked Doctor Newell to look over the data we recorded as well, he should be joining us in a moment and will be able to confirm what I've said."

Sann's clawed hand taps on the table as he pauses for a moment.

"Your symbiont on the other hand is more of a mystery to us. We've collected a great deal of information, but we cannot make heads or tails of it. Our physicians report a great deal of neuroelectric information is being transmitted between you and the creature, almost like a second brain in your abdomen. Does that sound right to you?"

***

After only a few minutes being locked away in a quiet upstairs room the door opens and an unfamiliar Tal'Harton enters. This one, a male, bows his head and motions for the Human to follow.

"Doctor Newell, Mihaj Sann is meeting with Commander Qech, he would like you to confirm the medical data he is presenting to her."

Qech didn't bother to look in the folder. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction. She shook her head, flinching slightly from the pain in her spine as she did so. "Unintentional? I was awake! You call that unintentional? I am a Doctor as well, and I can tell you that anesthesia is the difference between a medical exam and a torture session. I experienced the latter."

She took a moment to compose herself, swallowing her rage, and continued, her voice shaking. "And if you're looking for information on the symbiont, you're not going to get it from me."

Sann sighed and sat back, bridging his clawed fingertips.

"I can understand how you feel that way, Commander. Our culture reveres pain, and the practice of anesthetizing our patients is uncommon. I can only apologize again. If you'd like, you can have Doctor Newell examine you, he does after all know more about your unique physiology. As for the questions I have about your symbiont, it is purely academic, I'm sorry to have offended you and I won't ask again."
