I've been doing some research because I have been arbitrarily throwing out distances to this point. Anyone know of what they would call an accurate warp calculator? I tried a few out and for the same warp factor one was twice as long to reach Alpha Centauri than the other. I realize that TNG and TOS have different warp definitions, but it seems that once the number gets over warp 9, it's really just a guessing game. One calculator tweaks the numbers so it matches the chart in the TNG tech manual and one just has a wierd formula. I ask because as I looked at this I realized that I shot myself in the foot. I thought ten light years would be an okay distance, but for a runabout which maxes at warp 5 from what I have seen, it would take 13 days or something like that to travel that distance. Can we maybe agree on a calculator for the simm? Just an errant thought,

This may be the same one you are familiar with but this is the one I've been using to keep track of distances and times.....

Yep that's the one with the wierd formula. Anyway, it's going to be an unrealistic travel time for the runabout, we'll say it's only a couple lightyears or something, ten would be way too long of a travel time.

too true. However, it could be construed that the interference from the Tal'harton signal, coupled with subspace refraction could conceivably add distance to the signal.....
