You'll need to host VOY for me, it is the only one I don't have! _________________

I have DS9 and Voy, and am in the process of getting Enterprise. Eventually I work up to TNG, but not sure on TOS, with the time I have it will take me a couple years to work through the rest. I only actually watched about three episodes of Enterprise, I was working full time and in College full time at that juncture, TV wasn't much of a priority. So that's my first goal, catching up on Enterprise.
I would suggest a little website called Piratebay, or Demonoid if you can get an invite (I might just be able to help with that)
and the lovely Utorrent software. _________________

I cannot understand how you all can dis TOS like this! It was the FIRST, original brainchild of the king, Gene, Himself! Sacrilege!
Spock, McCoy, and of course KIRK started this whole thing and spawned the movies that have now adapted. WHY WHY would you ignore your roots?
The stories were good, the hope and potential of humanity was there....who are you people> You cannot be a star trek nerd and not love TOS, no I cannot accept it. It's like saying you are a computer nerd and never heard of the Commodore 64, or a gaming nerd and never heard of D&D......
Sacrilege! _________________

Commodore 64? What is that...like some sort of Dell laptop or something?
Kidding kidding! I actually own a 128 and have played with a C64 on many occasions. Probably one of the few of my generation that has programmed on a PDP-9 as well (Thank you Computer History class)
As for loving TOS, I do love it...just don't love to watch it. I love it because it is, as you mentioned, the start of it all. That being said, the stories are cheesy, the makeup is bad, the effects are worse, all making it very hard to watch. _________________

Ditto to what Calodan said, and to me D&D will always be that game I played on my Intellivision gaming system hehe Never was much for dice games, unless you count Zilch _________________

Well, let's be fair....it was shot in the SIXTIES! Come on...it had a shoestring budget, was dumped after 3 years, and never made money until it was syndicated. Imagine what our kids are going to say about TNG and DS9, when every year a new micro-technology comes out.
Star Trek changed the world of sci-fi and Kirk and Spock set the pace! God Bless em! I'm going to start a summer camp called "You Cannot Love Star Trek Until You Love TOS" or YCLSTUYLTOS university! LOL

I can still watch DS9 and enjoy the hell out of it without seeing the effects as dated and FX Technology has advanced substantially in the last decade. TNG's only deal, for me at least, is the costume and makeup is a bit dated (Troi's hair for instance! Watch her in almost any TNG episode and then look at First Contact or her guest spots on VOY or ENT and you'll see what I mean).
TOS is great fun, I love the setting and I can almost forgive the set design. It's a little hokey by modern standards, but I love the look and feel. The Uniforms are also really nice I think, even if they're a little simple. I enjoy the universe a lot, though I don't like reading the TOS novels for the most part (I do however enjoy the Vanguard novels, set in the same era). I think of TOS as the first step into the much larger mythos. It changed over the years, especially after the Great Bird's death and what it became is, for me, what Trek is all about. His foundation is important and without it most modern Science Fiction wouldn't be here, but there is more to Trek -- much, much more -- than just TOS.
AD&D was my intro to table top role playing so I can't complain. I didn't enjoy 3rd or 4th Edition D&D, but that's a game mechanics issue to be honest. I get the analogy however. _________________
