The Romulan laughed aloud. "Well, let's just say for now that I would not be adverse to accepting your help in the future."

Quote:
"I'm here to relieve you, Lieutenant. Thanks for holding down the fort."

Uvek appraised the commander for the first time since their experience at the hands of the Tal'harton inquisitors. He smiled an even larger smile than before, if possible, and for some strange reason felt slightly giddy at her tanned complexion and apparent improved health.

His nod was a mix of relief, respect, and friendship. "Commander. I am relieved both in office and spirit. I am truly glad to see you, ma'am...I was very concerned about your recovery and I feel I may have jeopardized your health in making my hasty decision. If so, I apologize."

"Commander. I am relieved both in office and spirit. I am truly glad to see you, ma'am...I was very concerned about your recovery and I feel I may have jeopardized your health in making my hasty decision. If so, I apologize."

Qech shook her head. "Your decision had nothing to do with what happened to me, Lieutenant. They were going to do what they were going to do. As far as I was concerned they seemed more interested in the symbiont..." A slightly darkened expression crossed her face very briefly as the memory came back to her. The symbiont still wasn't completely over the experience. Her memories were still fragmented in places, and she found herself wishing that her experience on the Tal'Harton's exam table had been one of the missing memories. She shook it off quickly, and offered a smile to the Romulan before turning her attention to Lt. Calodan.

"Well... Let's break her in, shall we? Lieutenant, contact the Myosian space dock and get clearance to depart. They have our gratitude."

She sat down in the Command chair, and directed her next order to the Helmsman. "Lt. Croft, I'd like to run a series of warp tests before setting out, just to be on the safe side. When that's completed, lay in a course for the Dark Matter Nebula."

Feeling as though she was being watched, Qech looked over her shoulder to find that Ambassador Rolen was still standing there, apparently enraptured by the entire process. She smiled, deciding that she didn't mind his presence so much. In fact, his almost innocent curiosity was somewhat endearing. She looked back at him. "I'm glad to see you back on your feet, ambassador."

USS Hartington, Bridge

Croft smiled at the commander, "Yes, Ma'am." He began running the first stage of the prewarp test as he waited for departure clearance. Once they were cleared, Croft smoothly pulled the Hartington from it's mooring and began on course at 1/4 impulse. Several minutes pass by, "Commander, all tests are green, warp field stable, engines read at 98% efficiency."

Qech nodded, and leaned back for a moment in the chair. "Take us out, Mr. Croft. Warp seven."

After they reached their cruising speed, she got up and made her way to the replicator, ordering a tall glass of orange juice.

"I'm glad to see you back on your feet, ambassador."

Rolen nodded and gave Qech a genuine smile, an unusual gesture for the Ambassador. Something had changed in their relationship these past few weeks, after what they had shared that outcome couldn't have been helped, but it was still more than a little odd to see that particular expression coming from the man with any semblance of sincerity.

"Commander, thank you. I dare say that without your comfort during our... ordeal... that I would not be standing before you today." he turned and motioned to the Tactical Officer as he strode to his station, "On a similar topic, I must mirror Lieutenant Uvek's sentiments. I am very glad to see that you have recovered."

"On a similar topic, I must mirror Lieutenant Uvek's sentiments. I am very glad to see that you have recovered."

"I was in the least amount of trouble" she said simply. Of course she was referring to both the baby and Qech, but she didn't say it outright. "But I appreciate the sentiment. I'm just glad it's all over. For all of us." She went back to sipping her orange juice, unwilling to mention the damage that she knew they were all still suffering from. It wasn't something that needed to be said.

ACTION

The Hartington soars away from their new allies and back into the unknown reaches of the Gamma Quadrant.

(OOC: I am going to close this thread and start a new one with the actual mission. Continued in the thread entitled Involuntary Muscle)
