Uros stood at attention before the Captain.
"Thank you Captain. It is an honor to be here. I'd like to present my team to you for your inspection. We are battle ready at your command. When we are not on duty, we have all had cross-training to serve along side the Starfleet crew." He handed the Captain a padd containing the dossier of all of the team. _________________

Challenger - Main Engineering
Lt Isaac Namara
After another couple of hours, Namara pulls himself out of the access hatch to the warp core and walks over the the comm station. "Namara to bridge," he begins, waiting for the response.
"All systems are running smooth for the moment." Under his breath, "A miracle considering the poorly planned nature of the ship." Continuing, "Thrusters, impulse and warp available on command." _________________

Glancing at his screen, Vishani took note of the hour. All of the crew should be aboard. Time to make sure everything was ready. Pressing down a button he spoke, "Yeoman Vasquez, is the crew all accounted for?"
"Yes, Sir," came the reply from the Chief Petty Officer, who was stationed at the primary airlock. Vishani had secured Elizabeth Vasquez's transfer orders shortly after his own, along with a couple of other crew members whose performance had justified a chance to give them more room to grow. "I just confirmed the last to come aboard against the manifest. They should be stowed shortly."
When it came to Vasquez, he had always been impressed by her organizational and motivational skills. Perhaps some day I'll talk her into going to the academy and becoming a full officer. As much as I'd hate to find another Yeoman to replace her, she certainly has the skill to go further. "Thank you, Vasquez. See to it that everyone can get their chance to make it to the observation lounge before we launch. We only get one first, and the off duty crew deserves their chance to enjoy it."
Confident that all was in order, Vishani relaxed in his post. The Captain would soon be back on the bridge, and they could get underway. _________________

NX Challenger
The turbolift doors opened and Weyland stepped onto the bridge. He had decided to take a little tour of the ship, and the bridge was a good place to start. He saw Vishani and smiled, "Commander Vishani, I presume, pleasure to meet you." He sticks out his hand. _________________

Kyle heard a new voice on the bridge and craned his head to see a medical badge. Dr. Weyland, according to the ship's manifest. Hmmm....
A unit bleeped at him and he turned to the indicator. The warp drive pre-heaters were at temperature, and the warp drive was now ready for direct injection. He glanced anxiously at the accelerator wand atop his steering column. He couldn't wait to push that forward and watch the viewscreen reveal the colorful warp tunnel he had heard so much about from the logs of the Enterprise and the Columbia. _________________

"Good to have you aboard, Dr. Weyland, or do you prefer by rank?" Vishani shrugged lightly, then took the Doctor's hand. "Regardless, it is a pleasure to actually meet you. A couple of my friends who stayed on at the academy spoke well of your classes. We are lucky to have you aboard." _________________

NX Challenger Bridge
Weyland laughed, "Doctor is just fine, I got enough ruddy sir at the academy to last me a while."
"Regardless, it is a pleasure to actually meet you. A couple of my friends who stayed on at the academy spoke well of your classes. We are lucky to have you aboard."
Weyland smiles, "It helped that I had actually treated other species during my residency, but thank you for the compliment." He glances around the bridge, "Think she'll get us to Trillius Prime in one piece?" He grins wryly, "You'd think we'd at least take 'er for a test drive before traipsing off on some diplomatic escort." _________________

"I expect that she'll take us further than we've dreamed of," Vishani replied. "Columbia and Enterprise are fine ships. We can only improve from their experience. In a sense, our maiden voyage will be our test flight. There doesn't seem to be as much room for experimentation in today's climate. But no worries, we are as well prepared as anyone can be." _________________

Captain Wells steps down the line, looking over each and every MACO as he passes. After a single stride down the formation, the Captain steps back over to Major Hofmann.
"Best of the best, Major. That is what I expect on this ship. Just because we're third our the door doesn't make us any less."
He turns to face the troops, his demeanor serious, his face stern. And although the Captain looks a consummate military man, when he opened his mouth to speak, his voice was soft, somehow disarming. It was quite clear that some of the MACO's were unsure how to react, even if their faces remained stony and their bodies remained ridged.
"I fully expect you will see combat my friends. Sadly, I also believe that some of you will not see the blue orb we call home. This does not mean I will needlessly throw your lives away, for I can think of no greater dishonor than to put you in harms way without due cause. Know this: I will not leave anyone behind. You honor me with your service and I will honor you in return. Today I welcome you aboard Challenger as a brother... I hope you welcome me just the same."
With that, Wells stepped up to the first MACO and offered the Sergeant his hand, as well as every other soldier's in return as he stepped down the line. He ended up back at the Major's side, his hand outstretched, offered to the man in who's hands he knew he would place his life.
"It is an honor, Major." _________________

Hofmann saluted, then took the Captain's hand. "Yes, it is an honor sir. These men and women represent the best that the MACOs have to offer. I appreciate that you see that." _________________

Weyland shrugs, looking around the bridge, "Well, at least our test flight shouldn't involve weapons tests," He pauses, then taps the side of his head, "knock on wood." _________________

Marcus smirked at the 'wood' comment. Since so few things were actually made of wood anymore, it was a pretty funny pun. He spun in his chair.
"Mr. Vishani, warp pre-heaters are at temperature, impulse engines are fully fueled and standing by, starcharts have locked in our position and we are ready to depart." He nodded at Dr. Weyland. "Doctor, I'm glad you are on board, I haven't dealt with space sickness before, but it runs in my family." He smiled at the thought of his enterprising father bending over a steel toilet in the head, losing his carefully calculated lunch. _________________

Weyland laughs,"I'll prepare an injection, just in case." He glances around again, then takes up position against a bulkhead, somewhat out of the way. "It usually takes a few hours for space sickness to manifest, though, so I think I'll watch the departure from here." _________________

Captain Wells nodded and stepped over to the com panel on an adjacent wall.
"Commander Vishani, alert the harbormaster. Once I return to the bridge we'll be shoving off." _________________

Challenger - Engineering
Lt Isaac Namara
"Listen up! Secure engineering for departure. This is the real deal folks. Finish up your current tasks and get ready for separation from dock."
In a slightly better mood as it is hard not to be excited right now, he adds somewhat awkwardly, "I appreciate the good hard work you've put it over the last few weeks. Let's see if it pays off!" _________________
