What a coincedence thought Smith, neither do I... He marched on with the rest of the team, remembering he had replicated an antique Ka-Bar combat knife before he left, and kept it under his arm, inside his uniform for just such an emergency.[/color] _________________

(OOC: sorry guys, it was a long and exhausting weekend)
"If either of you can get them to answer any of our questions in the meantime, they may find we're more useful as allies than as prisoners."
"I don't think they want us as allies... they are angry that were here and have yet to give them what they're seeking" she said in a soft quiet tone hoping not to alarm anyone. _________________

ACTION
The lead creature chitters up to the away team, stopping briefly in front of Qech for a moment before circling the whole team. All the while, the members of the security detail look on with weapons at the ready -- until ordered to drop them by the team leaders. After a moment the creature stopped and let out an ear piercing screech.
Come
The voice could be heard in each and every away team member's mind for a moment before fading back into the background. Slowly, the creatures began to herd the group away, down the canyon and through the remains of the woodland.
The group is led on for several kilometers, into a large clearing with little cover. Along the way many more of the rock aliens can be seen moving here and there, each going about their own business, not even bothering to stop and look at the strange bipedal aliens passing through their home. Soon they came to the obelisk Solana had shown the team back in the conference room, and standing before them was...
A man.
He appeared nearly human in appearance, only his larger than normal eyes and three fingered hand distinguished him from someone like Koester or Smith. The man waved his hand, bowing gracefully and motioned towards the obelisk.
"Please, come in my guests. We have much to discuss."
The group of Rock Aliens gave the team no choice and herded them into the obelisk after the man. Inside was a marvel of technology. Coils lit up with purple light pulsed up and down the cavernous room and a monitor on one of the walls displayed a great deal of data in an alien language. Solana had her tricorder out, performing scans, as did Professor Kolar. The security forces all looked about with a distinct air of worry, eyes moving from rock alien to new alien to Lieutenant Uvek and back again.
For his part, the new alien motioned towards a table, himself lowered down into a chair on the far side. His large eyes blinked and settled on Qech, Calodan and Uvek.
"I welcome you, to my humble home. I trust my friends haven't been too hard with you. Please, sit and we will discuss our situation as civilized folk." _________________

Qech nodded to the others and slowly made her way around the table, all the while keeping her eyes on the strange humanoid. She sat down, taking in her surroundings piece by piece as her peripheral vision allowed. She regarded her captor with a carefully neutral expression before finally speaking.
"You said 'our' situation. You obviously don't belong here either, so what exactly is your situation?" _________________

While the commander spoke, Uvek looked at Koester. Without a word his intent was clear. Stay alert, but stay calm. He knew his team would do their jobs, but he didn't want to take chances. He joined the team leaders and sat down, watching the security officers position themselves behind each of the senior officers and maintain their stance.
Until something was said or done to change it, they would at least act like they had a choice in this matter. He watched Commander Qech and the alien and bided his time. At least here was someone who could feel the sting of his Teral'n, if push came to shove. _________________

still unsure of the emotions she was feeling, which were a mix of the alien creatures, her team and her own, she couldn't help but seem uneasy at the situation they found themselves in. Taking a seat at the table she made sure to take a look around and remember where the exit was. Knowing that the security detail was holding position behind them helped to ease some of her nerves, but something was still bothering her... and she just couldn't put her finger on it. She wanted to try using her mind to speak to the others, but didn't dare attempt it in the presence of the creatures that seemed to share similar abilities. _________________

Location: Alien Obelisk, Planet's Surface
"You said 'our' situation. You obviously don't belong here either, so what exactly is your situation?"
The Alien smiled as he nodded and sat forward. He poured a glass of water for himself, offering the same to the seated members of the Away Team.
"Well, that is the question, isn't it? This may be difficult for you to believe or even to understand... but all of the equipment you see behind me has a very specific purpose.
Pausing for effect, the alien's wide black eyes are focused on Qech. He opens his mouth to continue, but before he is able another voice from further back begins.
"You are a time traveler. This equipment is being used as a temporal beacon."
Lieutenant Solana closes her tricorder and cocks a brow, as their alien host looks on, dumbfounded.
"Eh.. why yes. My my, you're good. As you say my pointed eared friend, I am from far in the future, a historian to be exact. I was stranded in this time and I've been looking for a way to get home. I set up this beacon to bring someone back in order to help me... I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting your type though. I've seen these uniforms but I can't put my finger on it exactly..." _________________

"Starfleet. 2377. A year we'd still be in currently, if it weren't for your beacon." Qech gave the time-traveler a slightly accusing look before continuing. "You built it to bring someone to you. Well, if you dabble in time-travel often you should know by now how dangerous all of this is. What exactly were you hoping to achieve by bringing us here?" She then looked around to the silicon creatures that were still surrounding the premises. "And where do they come in?" _________________

Location: Alien Obelisk, Planet's Surface
The alien cocked his head to the side thinking on the question, his expression almost doglike.
"What do I intend to get out of this? A way off of this planet for one. I've been stranded here for 10 cycles! As for my companions... they've been very helpful to me. Built the transmitter, helped keep me alive during my extended stay... but I think I've done enough damage to their culture, It's time I leave them in p--"
His speech is interrupted by a screech, one of the aliens behind him calling out. At that moment, three things happened in very rapid succession.
1) A number of the creatures started battering at the consoles around the group of humaniods.
2) A second, smaller group (a dozen of the aliens at most) start moving in towards the away team with what appears to be stone weapons in hand.
3) A large, sharp stone blade thrust into the back of the team's humanoid host, pushing out through his chest.
As the host slumped down dead, the same creature that stabbed him skittered towards Qech, rapidly and with one clear intent that one needed to be neither telepathic nor psychically connected to the hive to understand. It intended to kill her and every one else. _________________

Uvek lept to his feet, kicking his chair back and away from him. He unslung his Teral'n, spinning it's blade around and to the stone creature in front of him.
"Mavers!" he called out, "Get Lt. Zeara and Solana out of here NOW! Koester, Smith spread out and hit them, aim for the eyes!" Silicone or stone, or whatever they were, Uvek was betting their eyes were going to be vulnerable, if nothing else.
While he was calling out orders, he had jumped onto the table and two giant steps later, lept into the path of the approaching creature, slamming his full body into it, knocking it back while simultaneously stabbing the Romulan's steel razor tip into the beast's eye socket. It screamed as the blade shattered the crystal cornea and impaled the alien's brain. Uvek fell on top of the limp form as it crashed into the wall behind, then he rolled to the left, back toward the group.
A moment later, he stood in front of another beast, deftly parrying its rocky thrust, then slicing into the alien's eyes. Again there was a satisfying shattering effect, and Uvek roared with primal anger. Whatever else was happening around him, he could not say but he was sure that these two would never know another day on this plane, that was certain. _________________

Mavers spun to the Lt. before him, "Step here ma'am," he said, coming between Zeara and the nearest alien. For some reason, perhaps the fact that they did not recognize the TR-116's as weapons, each security man had his rifle on hand. Mavers raised his, shifting his weight to avoid the swing of the stone blade, and fired point blank. The first round ricocheted a glancing blow off the alien's forehead, its duranium casing cutting a crease into the skull. The second round, however, found its mark squarely into the alien face, cracking the stone maw and sending the alien sprawling onto the floor.
At that moment, however, a second closer stone monster thrust forward, it's huge stone blade slashing into Mavers back, and cutting him from shoulder to sternum. He cried out in agony, and fell, struck dead. _________________

((OOC: Why did Solana and Zeara specifically need to be moved?))
The creature made its move so quickly after disposing of the time-traveler that Qech barely had time to dive out its path when it moved for her. She hit the ground, catching the shoulder strap of her TR-116 -which she had placed on the floor by the table- with her boot and hoisting the weapon up into her arms with one quick kick. She could see Uvek jump onto the table from her place on the floor, but she didn't remain there for more than a second. She was back up on her feet in a flash, moving for the other side of the table. Her first reaction was to run for the time-traveler, who she found slumped over and bleeding from his chest, clearly dead. A quick scan with her tricorder confirmed it.
She silently swore to herself, knowing full well that this man could have been their ticket back into normal space/time. Going near the body seemed to have incensed the creatures further, as Qech realized another was quickly approaching her, its movements clearly threatening. She wasted no time in firing. It took more than one shot to what she could only assume was its face before it finally fell to the floor, the layers of almost skin-like rock chipping away from its body like brittle sandstone.
At this point the away team was surrounded. The humanoid traveler was dead, as well as one security officers (she could not see who). The dangers of staying were climbing by the second. Qech's palm flew to her combadge.

OOC: I'm going to give everyone the chance to play around with this action scene a little bit before I do the beam out to Hartington. Cut loose, enjoy yourself. Remember, your action happens either before Qech gives the order to beam out OR in the moments between her order and the Hartington bringing you home.
I'm going to post up an action post tomorrow, Friday, December 18 at around 5:00 PM EST. Enjoy yourselves! _________________

As the stone creature killed their host and the violent confrontation began, the buzz of voice's in Calodan's head became a roaring scream of emotion and energy. It was too much to handle and he collapsed to his knees, holding his ears. The roars of pain from the wounded creatures was doubled in his mind. He was a part of their Community...he must defend them.
The sudden silence was frightening. Calodan opened his eyes and found himself knealing in a dark room, kneeling before a humanoid. This man..no, woman...no man....the features kept shifting. So oddly familiar...the faces and features seemed to blend into one and another, never staying solid long enough for one set of physical parameters to dominate the others.
"Jim, its time. Get up and do something." The voice might as well have been his own. The features, the faces...this was him. This was the symbiont. Immediately his mind tried to comprehend how this could be happening. The symbiont and trill host were one being..one entity. This must be a...
"Psychosis? Maybe," the symbiont said, "or maybe it is what you need to hear. Get up off your ass and do something. Enough moping, enough self-flagellation. Now is when you can prove yourself to the captain, the crew...too yourself. You know what you need to do..." The room faded in a dizzying array of grey and he was back in reality. In reality, uvek was about to get run through by an enemy and was not going to be able to stop it.
With a practiced, sure motion that was so different from himself of late, he took off at a ran towards Uvek's attacker. As he ran, he scooped Maver's tr116 from where he fell and without a fumble, switched the weapon to full auto mode and loosed a half dozen rounds into the side of the stone creature. A battle cry, as ancient as battle itself issued forth fron his throat as the enormous stone enemy turned to face him. The rounds had done little more then scar the creaturels hide. But the turn gave him the time he needed and two rounds quickly were dispatched into the creature's eye.
"Uvek, watch yourself." He tossed the tr116 to the Romulan and turned back to attend to Mavers. A check of the neck revealed a weak pulse. With no time to waste, Calodan activated the emergency transporter beacon in the secuirty officerls armband and watched him dissolve. He was in Dr. Kiv's hands now....and Calodan had other things to do. Dodging the ongoing battle he made his way to one of the many panels and began downloading all data he could with his tricorder. His duty was to get his ship back to the right time and he was going to do it. Unfortunately, his single minded determination missed the stone knife slashing into his shoulder from behind...presumably thrown from an attacker trying to prevent him from scanning the consoles. The pain drove him yo his knees but with his good arm he continued scanning...
