Lieutenant Drake nodded. "Yes Sir."

He moved over to the wall console and tapped on his PADD and then on the wall console to sinc the two devices.

"Sir, there is a radio broadcast coming from the Expanse," Drake said. "Listen to this."

Drake tapped the wall console and the radio broadcast began.

"Today's weather ... partly sunny with a chance of rain later tonight ..." there was a pause in the broadcast. "Need a new hover car, try out the Dolfin. Its the newest model out there, sun roof, radio, tape deck and all the new in luxury vehicles ..."

Drake paused the broadcast.

"Sir, it's a radio broadcast. After several ... commercials, I believe is what they are called, it goes into repeating the weather and then some music," Drake said, looking around at the rest of the crew. "And, Sir, I'm not filtering this through the translator. It's all coming through in English."

Drake looked down at his PADD and punched in a few more sequences.

"It's coming from a world about 15 light years within the Julant Expanse, Sir," Drake looked at the captain. "So far I've uploaded about an hour worth of radio broadcasts."

Uvek nodded to Koester then focused on Drake. His information was, in fact, amazing. English was an Earth language and Uvek was immediately intriqued. Speaking from a strictly intelligence gathering background Uvek was chomping at the bit. He looked at Captain Brennon with a glint of anticipation in his eye. What would be the outcome? He swallowed his enthusiasm, knowing that this was too good to pass up. This is what the Hartington is all about.

Confident in the Captain's exploring spirit, Uvek sat back and watched the room buzz with the information, waiting for the inevitable order to set course.

Qech sat up a little straighter (if possible) at Drake's news, chancing a glance over to the Captain, who looked just as surprised as she did. "Sir... This is amazing..."

She had no doubts that he would agree, as she could practically see the cogs turning in his mind at the very mention of the news.

"We're not going to find ourselves short on choices for this voyage it seems" she added with a smile.

The Captain's intrigue was clearly piqued as he reached for the Lieutenant's PADD. Once in hand, he curiously thumbed over the information Drake had gathered. With a broad smile across his face, he handed the device back to the Science Officer and then looked over the rest of the senior staff.

"That is very interesting, and more than worth a look. If there are no objections I think we'll pay this planet a visit. Mr. Calodan, send a message to the Pel and the Myosians thanking them for their invitations and advise them that we will make an attempt to join them as soon as we can. Commander, set course for source of the transmission, warp 6."

Uvek practically lept to his feet, excited to be exploring and part of a crew that was not dedicated to undermining and destruction. He moved to his post on the bridge, relieving Phell with a respectful nod.

A quick scan showed no threats on the horizon and quickly identified the direction of the radio transmission. He waited for Solana to verify it and stood silently by while the team took their positions on the bridge. As tactical officer on a ship of this type, there was often nothing to do until the action started, but the space they were traveling was much like the oceans on many many worlds, alive with possibility and predators. He would keep a sharp eye out for the Tal'harton, or any other approaching crafts.

Croft followed Uvek out of the Staff room, taking his position at the helm. He waited for the Commander to order the course change, checking his navigational sensors as he did so.

Lieutenant Drake followed Croft out of the conference room and took his position at the science station, relieving the officer at the post.

Drake picked up his PADD and began to enter the coordinates.

Drake sat down at the science station and began punching at the console, continuing to gather information on the Expanse.

"I've got our Simulator up and running. Was going to take it for a test run, and figured you wanted to be here. I thought the TR-116 was a projectile weapon Karl..."

When Qech entered the bridge she immediately went to yellow alert, as per the Captain's orders. With a brief nod to the assembled crew at their stations she made her way to the command chair and, adjusting her uniform, sat down. She smiled at the helmsman as she made her next order. "Lay in a course, Mr. Croft. Warp Six."

As Croft prepared for warp Qech looked over to Lieutenant Drake, nodding her approval. "Great find, Lieutenant." She smiled. "This should keep us busy for awhile."

Croft's fingers flew over the console, within moments he looked up.
"Course laid in Commander, ready for warp six." Once confirmed by Qech, he tapped the console and the large starship smoothly accelerated to warp.

Drake nodded back at the command with a small grin.

"Thank you Command, lets hope it keeps us busy," Drake said. "Hopefully they have some sports radio broadcasts we can catch too while we're there."

Drake continued to smirk as he continued to work on his console, analyzing the data coming in from the expanse and from the radio broadcast being transmitted.

The Lieutenant felt his shoulder tingling as it often does. With a quick, secretive and slight punch to his shoulder the tingling went away and Drake got back to work.

After returning to the bridge, Calodan quickly drafted the messages to the Pel and Myosians and dedicated the needed resources from the subspace array to making sure those transmissions were received."

"Commander, the Pel and the Myosians acknowledge receipt of our messages and wish us smooth sailing...at least I think that is what this phrase means. The UT is having a tough time with the Pel language."

Qech waved a hand casually in the air as she responded to Calodan's report. "As long as it doesn't translate to 'sour grapes' I'm happy with a semi-accurate paraphrase." She smiled. "It's good to have allies so far from home."

"It would be better to have allies that could fight the Tal'harton or, for that matter, the Nekrali pirates that are plaguing their shipping lanes." Interjected Uvek.

He was still angry with the Tal'harton, a feeling that wouldn't go away anytime soon and, despite the captain's pronouncement, the Romulan was convinced that the Cryonic Emitter was the solution. He even toyed with slipping the idea to the Myosians before realizing what a political nightmare that would probably make for Brennon and the crew.

Balancing Romulan sensibilities with Federation compassion was not always easy even 3 years into his efforts, but Uvek knew where to draw the line and he was determined to be the best officer he could be. He tapped his console with the artificial fingers of his left hand and smiled at the thought of the appendage wrapping its iron grip on a Tal'harton throat. Over the past few weeks he had begun to master the Teral'n again and his confidence in the device was increasing. Still....

"It would be better to have allies that could fight the Tal'harton or, for that matter, the Nekrali pirates that are plaguing their shipping lanes."

Qech looked squarely at the Chief Tactical Officer. She heard the underlying tone in his voice. In fact, it would have been difficult to miss. Hate is never easy to hide, especially for a Romulan.

"If we were in this quadrant to start a war, Lieutenant, then I'd have to agree that such allies would be beneficial indeed." Her eyes lingered on Uvek for a moment before turning their attention back to the viewscreen.

The Commander sighed heavily. Her anger toward the Tal'Harton ran deep, but she would deal with it if and when they encountered them again.
