(OOC: since I'm unsure of stardates at this point... I'm going to generalize that this is taking place after Alpha Shift, while the Guardian is being repaired.)
Blinking as the screen she'd been monitoring for hours became difficult to focus on, she gave a sigh as her relief tapped her on the shoulder. Smiling at the security officer as she stood up she couldn't help but feel exhausted. Her body was stiff from sitting so long and her eyes burned from the excess of light for an extended time.
I really must learn not to take on extra hours... she thought to herself as she wandered into the turbolift.
"Deck 15" she said and passed on the thought to retire to bed in replace of the thought of a drink in the crew lounge.
wandering down the corridor to the staff lounge she fought to not rub at her eyes. It was none to soon when she reached the lounge and happily sat on a large overstuffed chair. It was then that she realized how sore her eyes were and for once was glad for a room with lower lighting. looking around at the random faces of crew she didn't recognize she allowed herself to rub at her eyes, hoping it would relieve some of the ache in them. _________________

A few moments later and the doors to the lounge opened, admitting Daniels into the dimly lit room. He walked to the bar and ordered a cocktail of some strong sounding liquor. As his drink arrived he turned to survey the gathered and saw Vanquaax. He raised his glass and sauntered over, tired but smiling.
"Nice work today, Lieutenant." he said aimably. "How are you finding your new duties? I don't think I would enjoy that kind of notoriety, especially under the Whip. He's gotta be a piece of work up close."
He sat across the blue security woman as he spoke, and drank deep of his glass. _________________

feeling more than seeing Daniels approach she lowered her hands from rubbing at her eyes and let them rest on the arms of the chair.
"Thank you Ensign." she said and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I am acclimating... the workload is a bit more than I'm used to of late and I'm not sure I've seen any change in notoriety." she chuckled to herself as if laughing at a joke only she understood. "I understand why some of you call him 'the Whip'. He can be a bit demanding and difficult to deal with, but I think that's just a visage." she said and tried to hide a smile.
"What is that you're drinking?" she asked in an attempt to change the subject. _________________

Daniels raised his glass and peered into the amber liquid. "This, my comrade-in-arms, is called Maker's Mark Whiskey." He sniffed it, then swallowed a burning mouthful. Wincing at the fire in his throat, he leaned in, looking around in conspiracy.
"It is nearly 140 years old, and preserved through a special, very expensive process. I bought 3 bottles of it on Earth, and smuggled it to Rayna there, to share with special folks. There's nothing like the real thing, but if the crew gets ahold of it, there won't be any left and that in short order." He leaned back. "If you would like, I could arrange a personal introduction." He smiled through his trimmed beard, his eyes flashing at the thought of corrupting the ship's security officer with something other than synthahol.
"As far as Talbert goes, he's got more than a visage problem. He's wound tighter than a drum. I hate officers who act like officers all the freaking time." Daniels swallowed another deep draft and leaned forward, a slight flush to his cheeks. "So, Security officer Vanquaax, how 'bout that drink?" _________________
