Marek woke up the next morning with a sense of determination. He headed towards Ops, looking for Commander Talbert.

USS Guardian
Science Lab 2

Lenara sat at a work bench, assembling an unidentifiable device, using a hyperspanner to make electrical connections. At the console next to her, a program is running on the main computer.

Talbert emerged from the Ops office, the re-wiring work finished for the computers and replicator. For all purposes, the office was complete. A conference table with 8 chairs sat to the right of the doorway, with a large curved desk sitting directly opposite the open door as you entered the office. To the left was a small lounge-like alcove with twin couches facing one another, a wet bar and replicator on the far wall. Everything was done tastefully in cream and black syntho-skin, with calm lighting. Talbert felt comfortable and was sure the coming Station commander would enjoy this post.

Captain Marek entered the Ops center and Talbert turned and dipped his head at his boss. "Captain. How was your rest?" He asked.

Having spent several lapses of hours intermixing meditation with sleeping, she went about her daily tasks with a renewed sense of duty.

Making rounds to check in with her security officers and various stations, and a general check that the security was as up to par as she expected it to be, she commonly found herself lost in thought.

need a good workout ayns... that's what bugging you. Or maybe a drink... some socializing would help... she became so lost in her thoughts that she nearly walked into one of her officers. Laughing it off internally, she checked in with her security crew and took her post overseeing their duties to be positive she had the best people assigned to the right jobs.

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Aboard one of the shuttles picking up debris

Lt. Taarak kept one eye on the viewscreen in front of him and the other on the young ensign fresh out of the academy on his first mission piloting the shuttle next to him. Without realizing the Orion flight control chief was gripping the arm on his seat a little tighter than usual. "You're doing good, ensign. Let's try evasive pattern alpha beta 12 and see how you do with that."

The shuttle shifted down quickly and to portside -- narrowly missing two large pieces of debris -- and then stopped quickly directly in front of small piece. Taarak nodded in approval of the manuever by the ensign. "Lets grab a hold of that piece and get it out of here, then we'll head back to the Guardian. Three hours out here is long enough."

After moving away the small piece of debris, Taarak stretched out his arms and placed his hands on the console. "I'll take it from here, Ensign, we'll have a little fun and I'll show you some awesome piloting skills here." The Orion punched in a sequence of keys on the console and the shuttle jumped to a higher speed, heading directly for the Guardian.

The ensign sitting next to Taarak looked at his superior officer wide-eyed. Taarak looked back. "Calm down, we're just taking her for a short spin before heading back in." Taarak put in another sequence into the console and the shuttle began a 360 spin.

After a short while, and very close to the Guardian, the shuttle quickly jerked up and spun around one more time. This time though, the top of the shuttle scrapped against the Guardian, creating a long scratch in the hull of the larger vessel. "Shoot, don't tell anyone, I'll handle this one."

Taarak straighted out the small shuttle and aimed it for the shuttle bay. Training four ensigns in flight control, all he wanted to do was have a little fun. Now the captain will probably make him spend a couple hours repainting the hull with the nice gash in it from his "fun."

Taarak looked up. "Hopefully no one was at security and noticed this, otherwise I'm going to be a dead little green boy," Taarak thought to himself. He then looked back at the ensign. "We just have a few hours left before we should be completed in moving the debris. Take a break and head back out at 0230 to finish up."

The ensign nodded as the shuttle came to rest in the shuttle bay.

OOC I guess I should have listed Marek's location he is on station at ops, Lenara is on the Guardian no big deal...

Marek addresses Talbert formally,
"Commander Talbert, will you follow me, please." Marek walks into the Ops office, briefly noting the finished state of the decor. He motions for Roger to sit, sitting stiffly behind the desk. He places a PADD on the desk, a hint of a smile on his face,
"Admiral Croft has given me the short list for the candidates to command the station. I was wondering if you would go over the list, give me your opinion?"

Talbert nodded and sat down opposite the captain. He received the PADD with a frown. "A little odd, isn't it sir?" He asked. "I mean, Commanders usually don't get involved in these sort of discussions. Not that I don't appreciate the gest...." He stopped mid-sentence, noting with shock that the first name on the list was his own. In point of fact it wasn't a "list" at all, but a discharge order, releasing him from service on the Guardian and assigning him as Station Commander of Deep Space 27!

He looked back at the captain. "What is this?" he asked. "Are they serious? What about the ship, who'll take my spot? We were just getting into a flow." Words jumbled out of him with a mix of heady surprise and gratitude, along with a heaping of humility and concern. Marek raised his hands with what passed a smile on his vulcan face.

"Captain, did you have anything to do with this? Is it certain? There must be other officers more qualified, what is Starfleet thinking? I mean, not that I don't appreciate it, but..." He looked at the PADD again, a sense of pride rising up in his mind. No one died for this one, he thought. That's got to be a good sign.

Marek smiled, a sudden urge to laugh nearly seizing him. How unbecoming of a Vulcan that would be
"The Admiral felt that the station needed someone with first hand experience in the region, and I agree. You have shown remarkable organizational skills, and your people skills are remarkable. With hard work I have no doubt you will be an exceptional commander."

Talbert stood and vigorously shook his captain, no..his friend's hand. His smile practically split his face. Command! And command of a space station, moreover an alien space station in deep space, where the Federation has never had a static post before!

"Of course, Captain Brennon will have to make this official as fleet Commander, I know," he said while moving to the wet bar. "But you'll forgive me if I ask you to join me, sir?" He poured two shots of Crown Royale (Proferred from Ensign Daniels at a tidy sum), and brought one to the leader of the Guardian.

"To the stars, and their infinite wonder." He said, raising a glass. "May we find allies and overcome our challenges with honor!" He snapped the drink back, feeling for the first time since his days on 331 that it may all be worth it, after all.

**********OPS OFFICE************

With the celebration over for now, Talbert sat at the desk in what was now his office, reading schematics of the new Patrol Ship. He was very excited. A new Hannibal class! Sleek and powerful, the ship made his blood surge. Let's see what the Tal'harton make of her!

With the pronouncement of his coming promotion, he was now given access to the files of those he would be commanding, no - working with. He began with Ando Osaka, his soon-to-be Executive Officer. Competent, talented and driven...excellent. He began digging, and read through the night, flipping through the files even while turning a new chapter in his life.

Marek raised his glass as Talbert toasted, politely sipping the drink. Marek had acquired enough of a taste for alcohol to be polite, although he never had more than one drink. After a brief congratulations Marek excused himself, leaving Talbert to ponder his new responsibility.

Lt. Taarak
Space Station
Ops

Taarak slowly walked into the ops center of the space station, still with a fat lip from his holodeck time -- who knew that a hologram of a Nausicaan would throw a mean punch.

The Orion was moving about the station to check on the status of the runabout pilots, but had wanted to scope out the ops center, having heard it was something worth seeing.

Taarak looked around. "Shoot, she is here." the Orion said to himself as he noticed VanQuax at the security station checking on the status of her security crew aboard the station. Taarak quickly turned the other way, hoping VanQuax nor the captain noticed the nice scrape on the Guardian from his 'playing around' time in the shuttle. He would tell the captain, but in due time...maybe.

Looking up, he noticed through a set of glass office doors Commander Talbert and Captain Marek sharing a drink at the wet bar. "Umm, looks like something good happened." Taarak said to himself as he reached the one of the consoles in the ops center and began his status updates.

USS Archer
Bridge

Ando Osaka sat on the bridge of the Archer, watching his crew as they approached the end of the nebula. He was still getting used to the idea of his crew, but it definitely had a good sound to it. The Lt. at the helm addressed him.
"Commander, the Conquest is dropping out of warp." Ando stood, rubbing his hands together.
"Excellent, bring is out of warp, match speed and heading. Activate viewscreen." On screen, the swirl of gases made a kaleidoscope of colors, the Conquest was visible almost dead ahead of them.

USS Conquest
Bridge

Admiral Thomas James Croft sat in the command chair, looking at the viewscreen in front of him. He could just make out the starbase in the distance as the nebula began to clear.
"Lt. Tavek, increase magnification by 200%." The screen flickered, and suddenly the station filled the viewscreen. With five docking arms at the highest point of the station and five more at the lowest the station could dock 10 vessels, plus four dry docks for shipyard repairs. It was as if someone had handed him the best Christmas present he had never asked for. Croft smiled to himself as he looked at what he deemed the biggest discovery since the wormhole itself.
"She's beautiful. Remember this moment, we are taking part in history."

Alterran Station
Ops

Marek was learning how to interface with the computer system at the hands of Lenara as Lt. Thomas turned to him.

"Captain, I'm picking up two vessels exiting the nebula on an intercept trajectory. Transponder signals indicate the USS Conquest and USS Archer."

Marek turned to the holographic viewer, "On screen." The viewer projected an image of the two vessels, which gave the appearance of depth.
"Magnify." Marek approached the image, he could clearly see the markings on both vessels now, and could even walk behind the image.
"Fascinating... Open hailing frequencies. Alert Commander Talbert of the Admiral's arrival."

"Hailing frequencies open."

"Admiral Croft, this is Captain Marek, Welcome to Deep Space 27."

Alterran Station
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo

With the station up and running at almost peak efficiency, his need to lead his teams was much reduced. The Regent project was progressing smoothly. Mehv found himself with some extra time, so he took to putting together a database of the tricks his teams have found when working with station technology. He hoped it would be useful to the new engineering team aboard the station.

Once that was complete, he looked around for other things to keep busy. Mehv even tried his hand as some of the debris clearing work, just to keep his piloting skills in decent shape. He was also seen in the holodeck practicing his martial arts. His run-in with the Tal'harton brought to the forefront the need to keep in shape.

Aboard the Guardian, he went over the data collected during the Tal'harton encounter. More data would be needed, but the subspace shield system had started learning, so that was working as it should be. Mehv made some adjustments improving the reliability by a few percentage points.

At other times, Mehv went through the Alterran database just reading about interesting topics looking to learn whatever he could while there was the chance.

During all of this, Mehv was extra social. He would stop to talk to pretty much anyone his saw just to chat for a while, ask how things were going, help them out if he could. It was a very enjoyable time and he was attempting to make the most of it.

USS Conquest

Admiral Croft stood, watching Marek on screen as he spoke.
"Thank you for the welcome, Captain. We are excited to see the new station. As soon as we have docked I would like to meet with you. Any word from the Hartington?"
Marek glanced off screen for a moment, then back to the Admiral,
"Last word had them en route, they should arrive in a few days, due to a 'short cut' as Captain Brennon put it. You are cleared to dock, I have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning to summarize what we have discovered."

Croft smiled warmly,
"I look forward to it, Marek, Croft out."

OOC I intend to leave this open for any secondary storylines, but won't continue the main storyline until the crossover launches.
