The station opening ceremony was flawless. We installed several new crewmen to posts here and saw some old friends again. I'm still not sure where Admiral Croft intends to take some of this but we're getting ready for a staff meeting, so maybe I'll flesh it out a bit.
Captain Brennon seemed broody to me, but I really don't know the man, so I have to assume it's probably not more than ususal, since his XO was ok with it and they appeared to share a bit of jovality. I met my replacement XO for the Guardian briefly, and I think Captain Marek will be well supported. I also finally met my Chief Diplomatic Officer, a betazoid named Zeara. She has a frank and open objectiveness to her and I think we'll get along fine. She'll have her hands full here, with everything from the Dominion to the Tal'harton to contend with, but I think she'll do ok. Chief Smith is straightforward. I haven't spent a lot of time with him, but his file and his handshake tell me I'm gonna like him. As far as Ando Osaka, we hit it off right away. He's sharp and I think we'll be a good team.
At any rate, I'm late for a meeting in the conference room. Admiral Croft doesn't think too much of my office, or maybe he feels more secure away from the prying eyes of the Ops center. So, we're off! I've scheduled a meeting with my staff and we'll be getting into more introductions...for now....Computer, end recording. _________________

Station Log: SUPPLEMENTAL.
With Croft gone a load of technology and information went with him. It wasn't that we have a special place in our hearts for the androids, they're just automatons linked to the central computer, but it's the idea of the thing. Just like Maddux and his fleet cronies, Croft means something more..sinister than he lets on. The glory of the Federation would be served just fine if he would not interfere with us out here, and kept the technology where it belongs. It's a human failing, perhaps, to strip every resource from an area whenever we find it. Anyway, the Hartington and the Guardian both are preparing to depart, and we have a fledgling outpost to develop, with thousands of potential problems and wonders to discover.
The Ju'Tau are expected to arrive in a day or so, and we look forward to building our allies. Captain Brennon may be right about the Tal'harton, but I'm not taking any chances. According to the Ju'Tau leader - a man named Benl, we have not heard the last of them. These Myosian off-shoots have been assaulted by the Tal'harton for decades now, not to mention the Nekrali, and they seem genuinely interested in peaceful trade while needing our protection. I just hope it's not the first of many who need us more than we need them. _________________
