Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Bridge
The half human, half Bajoran man stood in the turbolift as it brought him to the bridge. Eyes closed, taking deep breaths. "This is a huge ship compared to my last one. How will the crew take to me? What will they know about me," Adams spoke to himself as the turbolift came to a halt and the door slid open.
Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams, with his dark blonde hair parted to the left with just the ever-so hint of gray in it, walked through and onto the the bridge of his new home -- the USS Guardian.
He glanced around the bridge. An Orion sitting in the command seat, junior officers manning their stations. It was quiet, except for the chirping of computer consoles and the gentle hum of the ship itself.
The Orion stood quickly. "Commander, welcome to the bridge."
Adams nodded. "Thank you ... Mr. Taarak, is it?"
The Orion smiled slightly and nodded, "Yes Sir, I see you've been doing your homework on us. Anything I can answer about the ship or her crew?"
Adams clasped his hands behind his back and slowly moved towards the Orion standing in the center of the bridge. He looked up at the the security console and nodded at the officer there and then moved closer to Taarak. "Nothing yet, Lieutenant. Just taking a tour of the ship to see what she has to offer. You still have the bridge, just go about doing your job, I'll just watch briefly."
Taarak was puzzled, he's on the bridge at the moment, but he wants me to remain in charge? Am I being evaluated? What did I do wrong? Finally the Orion nodded in acknowledgement and sat back down. "With us being docked, it's pretty boring up here right now, Sir. Just repairing any systems that may need to be repaired, upgrades of minor systems, just that sort of stuff. That's why there's only five of us on the bridge right now."
Adams nodded, "I'll let you get back to work then." Adams turned towards the viewscreen and looked out at the giant arm of Deep Space 27 that was holding the Guardian in place. "Just call if you need me." Adams turned and walked back into the turbolift. "Engineering." He gave th command to the computer as the doors to the turbolift closed and it jerked into the motion. _________________

Daniels looked over his shoulder, watching the entire event with curiousity. As Adams left he turned the other direction and looked toward Taarak with a raised eyebrow. I suppose we have to start somewhere, he thought. At least he's no Talbert.
The ensign still stung from the scolding he received from Talbert weeks ago, his ego refusing to let it go. Oh well, there are other fish to fry. He returned to his station and continued tweaking the comm relay they had put in place just outside the nebula. _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Bridge
Taarak chuckled at Daniel's raised eyebrow. "Pretending to be a Vulcan, Mr. Daniels? Don't let the Captain see ya, he may actually mistake you for one of his own."
The Orion walked up to where Daniels was working on the comm relay and glanced over his shoulder. "How is it coming together? Will we be able to phone home better?" Taarak said, doubting anyone would know where the line came from. He had that line stuck in his head after watching an old Earth movie in his quarters -- E.T. _________________

USS Guardian - Main Engineering

While it was anything but true, it seemed to Mehv as if the Guardian had fallen into disrepair over the last few weeks. Over half his crew had been working on the Station and so many of the standard maintenance tasks had to be sacrificed to accommodate the extra workload. The team was paying the price now as the Guardian prepared to leave. The system updates from Starfleet had to be implemented as well.
Speaking to all in Engineering, "I know we've worked you harder than usual for the past couple of weeks, but the end is in sight. Lets get the Guardian to top-notch performance, and I'll implement an extra off-duty shift for the whole crew to help you recuperate."
"Ensign Frederick, after you've finished updating the flow control program, make sure you realign and calibrate the injectors. The new program assume different settings on them. Have Mister Roe review them before you bring them online, we don't want to have an unconstrained reaction on our hands."
"Poussant, how has the new deflector been holding up?"
"Looks good, sir. Standard wear-in has occurred and a simple refocusing routine should be all we need."
"Excellent Lieutenant, that should put us ahead of schedule. Carry on."
Mehv took one last look at his crew hard at work and was about to head to his office and review the personnel changes when he noticed someone new had entered Engineering. _________________

Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Engineering
The tall new XO of the Guardian stood with his back up again the wall, still standing tall, with his arms crossed in front of him. He liked what the lieutenant in engineering had said to his crew. It's good for an officer to thank his crew for the work they're doing, shows they actually care.
Adams stepped forward as the engineering officer noticed him. The lieutenant commander extended his hand for a handshake. "Good job down here, Lieutenant. Engineering looks like it runs flawlessly under your leadership." _________________

Talbert laughed at Taarak's comment. Though he had no idea what he was talking about, phoning home had a nice ring to it.
"Well, in conjunction with the new Asteroid Relay Boxes Starfleet is putting in between here and the wormhole, we should be able to maintain sufficient contact for an almost instant response." He tapped some commands. "I'm just tightening up the jargon for the computer compatibility program. Alterran still chokes it up, but I think the systems will be able to adequately adjust." He glanced up at the Orion, "At least enough to make the call worthwhile." _________________

Mehv takes the compliment in stride. "Thank you sir, I have a great team." He leaves it at that as if that explains it all.
"Welcome to the Guardian, sir. We are slightly ahead of schedule and should be ready by the time we are set to depart." _________________
