Since Qech mentioned her tat...I figured we could do a little show and tell.

I have two myself. My first is on my left forearm. It says "Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam" which is Latin that means "Either I will find a way or I will make one". I got it on my 21st birthday after an exceptionally hard year. It is there as a reminder to myself to always keep pushing to survive.

The second is on my right shoulder, above my shoulder blade. Its a big black X, signifying the broken cross, with the words "Crux Decussata" above it and "True belief, even in death" underneath it. It is about the story of St. Andrew from the Bible. He was offered a chance to save his own life..he only had to admit once that he didn't truly believe. He stood his ground and was crucified on a broken cross, an X. My name is Andrew and this story resonates with me. I've always been one of those people who does the right thing even when that is the harder path.

Number 3 has been planned for quite some time. Its just been a matter of getting up the money, and the courage, to do it. The only easily visible one I have now (#1) isn't so nerdy. My second one..is.

That is the rough design. Yes, that is the twitter fail while, a petunia, and then a famous quote from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It is going to go on my right forearm, down my arm. I designed it myself (actually, I designed all 3 myself but the others are just text) to show that Im truly a nerdy but also to symbolize that sometimes, no matter the odds, the unexpected happens.

Anyways folks, got body art? Got any planned? Share it up!

I posted mine in the "photos" thread before you started this one.

While you're at it, you might as well put a big '42' somewhere Very Happy

The 42 is too cliche. I went with the whale and petunias to sort out the posers who would see 42 and recognize it from the movies. You have to be a real fan to know the significance of the whale and petunias!

Im trying to fix the two pics that arent showing up but the internet here is MONDO slow

Edit: Fixed...now Im toddling off because the mondo slow internet has frustrated me!

How about "It can't see you, if you can't see it?" The 42 thing got old for me too, to be honest.

And the movies were cute and all, but... Nothing like the book. Zaphod was completely different, just to mention one. Douglas Adams, in my opinion was a little bit like a more modern day Lewis Carroll. Not in the "I'm totally nuts" kind of way, but he made sense with senselessness. Yeah, a lot of it was just British humor. But, I think the wit was missed in the movies.

Ya, it wasnt very true to the original work which is a shame because Douglas Adams was a genius.

Mos Def as Ford Prefect was very good though and while I think her an awful actress, Zooey Deschanel was lovely to stare at to take my mind off the pain of what they were doing to my beloved HGttG

Oh, she's way too monotone. It may be her natural way of speaking, but it just doesn't seem to work in film. Drives me bonkers. I don't have a problem with her as a person, just as an actress.

Nor do I. I've considered getting one a couple of times in the past, but I don't want one badly enough to, say, get hot, ink-stained needles stabbing into my skin. I think you have to be dedicated to the idea to put up with the aggravation of actually getting one. I'm too apathetic.

Tatoos aren't really something you can do on a whim. (At least not unless you're drunk. Very Happy )

Here's mine:

It is a bear paw on my right shoulder. A reminder to myself that a dear friend of mine (Dep. Timothy Graham, Pima County, AZ Sheriff's Dept) will always be behind me, pushing me to do my best (even when I don't neccecarily want to...)

Its a good feeling knowing someone is looking out for you...
